I've made an interesting observation over the many years of high school. During my junior and senior years I had two very different teachers. During my junior year, my AP US History teacher was an extreme right-winger. During my senior year, my government teacher was more center-left (not an extremist... just slightly liberal.)

My Republican teacher was always angry. He was always bashing the Democrats, saying how everything they did never, ever worked and there was nothing good a Democrat has ever done in the history of the United States. His speeches about politics were very hateful, he NEVER said how to correct a problem, or what the Republicans would do in the same situation. It was just bash, bash, bash, bash. Some point, you've got to put up or shut up.

My Democratic teacher was very smooth and intelligent. She never, ever, ever bashed a Republican, though she might have disagreed with their philosophies, it was more of a friendly disagreement than irrational hatred. She spoke of what the Democrats could to do make the world a better place, how certain policies would work, or would not work. Always looking toward the future, trying to better the world.

That was what I noticed between the two. Is it a coincidence? I really don't think so.
