Situation: Running into Tristan after she fled from her friends in tears.
"I'm just," Kai struggled to grasp the words while trying to control her emotions. "going through a depressive phase," she said finally, letting the breath out slowly. It was only now that she remained stationary, could she feel the pain. Her legs were burning, her lungs were burning, her eyes were burning. It felt like her entire body was beset by millions of tiny fire ants, biting her skin. She coughed once, twice, three times before settling to lean against Tristan. Her eyes closed and she whispered, "Thank you for saving them. I couldn't have even if I tried." I feel so weak. Why do I always have to go running for help. Running to find someone who will take care of my problems for me, she thought. More irratated with herself then anything else.
