A while ago, in the frost bitten cold
My feet paraded down, through the bickering snow
A hole in my heart, where you should have been
Had been left unfilled, like a person made of tin
You had not a face, for we had never shared,
A heart-warming moment, a chance to be ensnared
So I painted a picture, an invisible you
And I kept the image in my thoughts, of a person so true
My friends encouraged me, saying I’d be able to embrace
A wondrous soul, a person to keep me safe
And then, not looking where I was going, I bumped into you
And I found my self staring into the deepest blue
Your eyes electrified and conducted in my heart
My breathing stopped short, the world shredded apart
My lips parted to speak, but my mouth became dry
The words couldn't form, not even a cry
Your hair was robust, as gallant as the skies
And the hole in my heart began to vigorously fly
Without warning, a ghost of a smile,
Manifested on your porcelain face, perfect and undefiled
Your lips remained curved, your eyes remained fixated
As the rhythm of my heart dramatically escalated
Then, without a word, you slipped away
Your eyes broke contact and your body gracefully swayed
My pupils dilated, and meticulously followed your actions
I nearly missed your penetrating eyes by a fraction
In slow motion, I watched as you walked down the path
And the meddling cold struck me like a glacial bath
An apology was still sharp on my tongue
But the words left me, deflated, like a punctured lung
You drifted farther into the winter's arms
My hands furiously reached out, eyes wide in alarm
Yet, my mouth betrayed me, in its treacherous ways
My thoughts crumbled and all words became enslaved
My eyes sealed from shame, and the world disappeared
Silently they opened; it was as I feared;
Without a shadow of a doubt; you had disappeared…
I collapsed into the snow, welcoming the punishment
In my tin, hollow heart, all screws twisted out of placement
I glanced into the winter sky; a realization brought to light
The thought alone, in my heart, brought dilemmas and plight
The breathtaking encounter between you and me…
It never was and never will be
My feet paraded down, through the bickering snow
A hole in my heart, where you should have been
Had been left unfilled, like a person made of tin
You had not a face, for we had never shared,
