Drunken haze with some red tape
Lets go and see
Lets drink with glee
With the stars shining like diamonds
And the moon high above thriving
Made of glass and so it showing and shining
In the dead cold of December
There is nothing that can be better
With twenty degrees below
There is no better time for a stroll
So put on five layers or more
If you don’t you’ll regret it
Take a double shot to keep your self warm
And don’t for get it
Now we head off
So after you
Feeling cold feeling great
It’s the dead of night and I feel safe
With no one around just my friend and me
We walk to the park and a bit tipsy
We get there the playground is bare
We jump around just like kids
I climb the rock wall
Hoping to god I don’t fall
We sit and joke and reminisce
remembering the summer
And the good times we miss
We walk along the path
Still having a blast
Hopped the fence
And cross a yard
Went to the park across the street
There we climbed the playground
That is too small for both you and me
I had a thought so we climbed a tree
You helped me up, I used your knee
We sat there in the tree
Talking about everything
I jumped to the ground
And showed you what I found
A stick I made in to a cane
It was the right height
You said that’s all about insane
Feeling good feeling great
But wanting some more
Another beer would be great
So we walked to the store
In the middle of the road
But it was closed
That was unfortunate you know
But we had plenty of time to kill
So we walked to the other side of the neighborhood
To see if the other store was open
So we walked in the cold
In the middle of the road
Down my street and past my place
But when we got there to the store
The lights where on but no one was home
So we walked back to my house
In the December cold
We had some time to kill
So I said lets go to the house being built on my road
Just a skeleton of a home
Just beams of ply wood and wires
We walked through the garage
With my phone at hand
Giving off the only light you can see
Looked out the back door
All muddy and bare
Named all the rooms in the house
When we where in them
Hallways , bedroom’s and the kitchen
There was a fire place in the living room
But it wasn’t finished
Looking for the stairs that go to the basement
There in the garage we finally found them
So we descended in the unknown
Trespassing this un-built home
But I saw some red tape
As I went down the stairs
Down there it was dark and warm
I put away my phone
And there we stood in the dark
Saying nothing
A car passed with the head light faint
I said they have no idea any one is down here
We still where in a bit of a drunken state
But we had to go it was 11:02
So I said after you
Then I said I know this is not me
But I want to steel something
you said that was just the alcohol talking
But I showed you the red tape when we went down
So you grabbed it on our way back up
And showed me on the street
I laughed and said that’s totally sweet
We walked down the road
In the middle of the street
I had my stick and you had the tape
This night may be cold but it is great
So back to my place we went
With the moon set high
And not a cloud in the sky
But for sure
This night was fun
