The Brave Legend

This is pretty much a summary of a novel I plan on writing.

It's about the Three Kingdoms era of ancient China but with a twist. All the soldiers, generals, lords and such use powerful mecha called Legend Frames. And pretty much the first few chapters will cover some parts about the actual history of China.
Like the first few chapters will deal with the Yellow Turban Rebellion. Then comes the battle against Dong Zhuo at Hu Lao gate and even the chase to hunt down the infamous Lu Bu. But after that it will be my own thing. Pretty much while the Three kingdoms of Shu, Wu and Wei are battling for supremacy a sorcerer is preparing to summon five powerful demons to wreak havoc in the world.

Now of course i'm following some rules for this story.
1. NO LASERS! Ballistas and cannons are okay as long as the shots are solid.
2. Weapons must be COOL. For example, for Xiahou Dun i'm giving him a sort of long punching blade that can also become a whip sword. And for Ma Chao i'm giving him a spear and a sword that can combine with parts of his armor to create an even stronger weapon.

Also here's what i'm doing in terms of names. I'm using the Japanese pronunciation for the pilots and the traditional pronunciations for the Legend Frames.

As for some weapons I had these ideas for some of the Legend Frames

Meng Huo's: Fists
Xiahou Yuan: A large crossbow/mace
Sun Ce: Shoulder armor that becomes a pair of Tonfas but can also combine into a massive pillar like weapon
Xu Huang: Twin axes that can combine into a double bladed axe and his armor can combine to become a large cannon.
