"I am Jubilee. Queen of color and protector of life eternal. I have sensed grave danger in the days ahead and have sent forth my disciples to collect warriors from across the world. These warriors will become my champions in my fight for peace and beauty. I have sent down Whit to discover my first warrior. The scout. I wonder how he fairs on his quest. Let's look into the rainbow and see."
CHAPTER 1: Whitney
Whitney was at the city library looking through books in the kids section. "Have it, have it, read, have it, hate it, have it," Her fingers walked across the titles of children's books. Although she was growing up she never lost her love for children's stories. "Never heard of it." She removed a white book from the shelf and read the title curiously. "Imaginary invasion?" She opened the book to see nothing but white pages. "It's blank?"
"White ink." Said a voice behind her.
"Why?" She asked, not removing her eyes from the book.
"Cuz that's how I wrote it." Said the voice.
"Why would you write in white..." She couldn't finish the sentence. She was to astounded by what she saw. It was a little white bird boy.
"Because it's not so much a story you read." He took the book from her. "As much as you imagine the story." He smirked and with a twitch of his hands he made the book disappear into a small rainbow. He puts his hand out and smiled. "I'm Whit."
Whitney looked at the creature. "What are you?"
"No." The creature laughed, "Whit am I."
Whitney was dumbfounded. She looked around and noticed none of the other readers were acknowledging the presence of this strange, pure white creature.
"They can't see me." Whit said going behind her. "I'm imaginary." And he reached beneath her arms and formed a rainbow in front of her. Whitney smiled and realized she had most likely become the star in her own story.
"You are the scout." Whit whispered, "There is a war coming and the champions of that war must assemble. Only you can see them. Only you can bring them together. Can you do it?"
With a smile she nodded and a rainbow swirled around her as her skin turned white.
CHAPTER 2: Robby
Robby was busy at work in his auto repair garage. He slid underneath the car and began to crank things in and out of place. "Wrench." He said and he reached out his hand. A wrench levitated to his open hand and he returned to work. When he was done Robby rolled out from under the car and admired it. "Nice."
"It is an acceptable automotive piece of transport." Came a robotic voice. Robby looked to his side a high-fived a red robot.
"We make one hell of a team Roberto."
"Indeed sir." The robot replied.
Robby was born into a family of auto-mechanics. They were always busy when he was little so Robby had no choice but to create his own imaginary friend. Roberto the robot was born. His whole life Robby and Roberto were partners. Robby was a mechanic at his fathers garage and went to school during the week. He aced auto shop. The car Robby was working on had been his pride and joy. A special project of his. A red Musculero with flames.
The bell over the door jingled, indicating someone had entered. Robby looked to see who it was but was blinded by a rainbow like light. He blinked and rubbed his eyes. "Are you ok?" asked the customer. She sounded concerned.
"Trick of the light I guess." Robby said opening his eyes and looking at the girl. "Can I help you miss?" She reached out a gloved hand and smiled.
"I'm Whitney." She announced.
"Robby." He wiped off his hand and shook hers.
Roberto wheeled out from behind him and declare, "Greetings. I am Roberto." Robby smirked at Roberto trying to interact with a real person.
"Hello Roberto." Whitney said as she crouched down and flicked his light bulb. Robby stopped smirking.
"You can see him?" Robby asked.
"Can you see me?" A white bird boy hovered upside down next to Robby.
"Wha?" Robby fell in shock.
"There." The bird boy said as he straightened himself. "Now things aren't so weird."
"Greetings Whit." Roberto said wheeling towards the bird. "How are you?"
"Hey Roberto." Whit replied. "It's time."
"Well then." Roberto turned to Robby. "Let's begin the upgrade." He charged Robby who flinched. With his eyes closed Robby heard Roberto's voice in his ears. "There is a war coming and the champions of that war must assemble. You are needed Robby. This girl is the only one who can help us seek out the others. In the times ahead she may need your skills. She may need a mechanic. Will you help her?"
When Robby opened his eyes, Whitney was looking down at him curiously. Robby then realized her skin was pure white. "What happened to you?" He asked.
"What happened to me?" She retorted, "What happened to you?"
"Wha?" Robby looked at his hands and saw they were bright red. He got up and ran to the mirror. He admired himself and whispered, "Nice."
