If I've referred you here, it is likely because you have displayed interest in my project and offered services as a writer. Now, I am always flattered when people offer as it shows a willingness to be part of something bigger. But because of the nature of this project, I need those with a flare for what they do. In this case writers, I need to see creativity and a good literal skill. With this I propose a test!
The test is simple in nature but requires a little time and effort to complete well. Those that show they don't fall at this hurdle will go on to greatness (and get to know the project in it's entirety.
The Challenge:
I'll give you a list of races, you pick one and write a little about that race. Your options are:
-Human Warrior Clans
-Lunaic Elves (some times called 'night elves')
-Water Elementals
-Redcaps
-Merfolk
The four categories are:
-Physical Appearance
-Habitat
-Racial traits and abilities
-Social structure.
The rules:
1) These fantasy species originate from fantasy worlds thus no real name of a place, people, god or religion can be used. If you plan on having a name your description (for example the Lunaic Elves originate from Derulai) please put 'WORLDNAME' or 'CITYNAME' as a place holder as I will tell you later where races come from.
2) Though the rule above states that you cannot use real-world names or references in your descriptions, you may (and I advise you do) research the fairytale or fantasy fiction in which these fantasy species are mentioned, this will give you a head start and will ensure you and I are on the same wavelength.
3) Do not copy passages of text from one place to your description, other than it just being a poor representation of what you can do creatively. I have probably already read the information and will spot it a mile off.
4) Though not a an actual final dead-line I would like the description sent to me via PM within a couple days of declaring your wish to participate, this is not because I am impatient but simply because I would like the project to move along.
The rules are simple, the test pretty easy for those with a creative spark. Have fun.
