The life and death gods became insane, as life was celebrated by some, and others hated life to the point of insanity for the life god same for the death god, some rejoised the passing of others, were as others cursed death it-self, and the two went completely insane for eight centuries until they learned that emotion was imposible to have if they wanted to be gods of their elements, so they learned not to show any emotion what so ever.
