The night before my birthday just happens to be the most chaotic storm I’ve see. It was as if God himself decided that he planned on flooding the world with massive rain showers. Rain pattered down on the stain-glass windows like the bullets of a machine gun magnified ten-fold. If the lightning was any brighter it would’ve blinded me even more than my right eye already was.
The current scene? Four male teenagers with shimmering blue eyes glued to a low budget, cheap crass Italian Soap Opera on the only television in the whole house while stuffing their faces with who-knows-how-old popcorn we had popped over a fire due to the broken stove we bought off of a bum on the streets of New York. And then there was me, invisibility queen, wondering why I was even here in the first place.
I slumped down into the loveseat I was sharing with Audan, the youngest of the four guys at age 13, and let my face fall, showing I was not pleased. He gave me a simple look of pity, but his bright sapphire eyes soon drifted back to the TV screen, which currently displayed an old lady covered in what a sane fellow would call clown makeup crying her beady little eyes out. I rolled my eyes at the screen but did not say a word. After I thought everyone sub-consciously died and I too felt like I was losing sight of sanity, the cheap lights above us flickered for a moment before burning out, like when a misled kid decided to step on a lightning bug.
Matthew (I call him Mattie to piss the crap out of his normally cheerful self), being the oldest of the age of a whopping 25 and yet somehow most mentally challenged one out of the 5 of us in total, made the best assumption anyone of us could’ve ever made since we assumed that the world was ending in 2012.
“I think the powers out.”
“Congratulations captain obvious...” Erik mumbled under his breath with a hint of irritation. Being the second youngest out of us and yet the most leveled headed, he and Mattie got into more fights than all the times that I’ve blinked before. Somehow, those two were the best of friends at the same time.
Mattie grinned over to the irritated light brunette, who was currently rolled his deep navy eyes, and reached to fix his black belt slung over his jeans. With a quick observation, I realized we all were wearing belts. Mine of course was more feminine.
Actually, the more that I observed the four of them, the more I noticed their hair and eye colors were all the same, but different tones. Could it be possible they were all related? Deep inside me, I knew that they couldn’t. after living with them for about a month, every single one of them was so different that they were all complete polar opposites. Mattie was the really loud, huggable drunkard who couldn’t read the atmosphere even if he had on the best reading glasses. Dane was considered an extremely average person compared the others, but did obsess over video games. Erik was by far the calmest, often daydreaming, but tended to be violent. He was the hardest to read out of all of them combined, Audan being the second. Audan was often being dragged everywhere and complained, but he did have a soft side.
And then there was me, the only girl, the only fully sane one at best. It was more than obvious that I didn’t belong with these people. Anyone with eyes could see that I looked nothing like them either. The quad of rowdy men were all topped with light haired streaks and different tones of blue for eyes. Me? I was so immensely boring that children would soon rather do their homework then even so much as to talk to me. Every inch of my locks were an ugly mud brown color, the type of color you try to avoid on your new white sneakers when trudging to school in the rain. My eyes were a deep emerald green, but that hardly made up for it. Mud brown hair and grass green eyes just made me look like my grandmothers garden.
“Hey, Anna?’ Dane called out to me from across the room. A habit of his was to talk as if someone stuffed his ears with earplugs. I looked up from the chocolate wood floor I was currently staring at, trying to calculate all the dust bunnies that lay below our feet. Because we were located at Erik’s monster of a home, it was pretty well kept and there wasn’t enough dust to please.
“What’s up?” I replied to Dane in a much more hushed tone. He flashed a smile and pulled a slip of paper out of his pocket. I couldn’t tell what it was from here, but the way he was handling it while suppressing a smile (and failing at it) showed me the paper was either some sort of practical joke, or much worse than that. Maybe it was both.
“Here,” Dane said with a grin beaming ear to ear slapped onto his face. He brushed his deep blond locks out of his indigo eyes and placed the paper slip into my hand, which was unconsciously out.
"Humph," I snapped at him, snatching the slip as quickly as possible. Unfolding it carefully as to not rip it with my clumsy hands, I began to read.
"Haunted House Tour!?" I shouted by mistake, causing several faces to look up in confusing. "B-but why!?" I screamed, turning clammy. Dane also obsessed over anything scary. Me? I stayed away from anything that isnt soft and inviting.
"I got it for you, Anna," he replied, flashing a grin. Damn him and his cute grin of doom. He always did this to me.
"Not this time Dane," I said sternly, waving my finger and shutting my eyes tightly. I had to hide his cuteness from my face.
"Awwwe," he pouted. I could hear his expression with his tonality. "Please? I'll be there the whooole time." Great. Now he sounds like Mattie. Curse him for being adorable.
"Just go," Audan piped up. I shot my eyes open. Dane was no longer tormenting me with his cuteness and was staring questionably at Audan, still smiling of course and prompting him to go on.
"Uhh," Audan mumbled, ruffling his light blond hair. "I'll be there too." He nodded, and then flashed a rare smile, making me feel lightheaded. Nodding, I got up and excused myself.

(NOT DONE AND ITS NOT A FANFICTION ITS RANDOM xD)
