How to get me to join your roleplay |

xxx Step one: Spell the title correctly If you've got a typo in the title of your roleplay thread, I'm not clicking on it. Simple as that.
xxx Step two: Don't put any of the following words in the title of your roleplay 'For boys' 'For girls' 'Yaoi' 'Yuri' 'Het' 'Fun' 'Drama' 'Love' 'Clique' 'No more boys' 'Vampire' 'Starlight Academy' (Seriously, if you have a school roleplay, do not choose this name. Hundreds of others already have.)
xxx Step three: Don't have a wall of text I do enough assigned reading at school. If you want to give your readers an in-depth view of the world your roleplay takes place in, that's great, but as the old saying goes, less is more. To a point. Two sentences generally isn't enough. Try to strike a balance between 'So...?' and 'TOO MANY WORDS'. As well, do your best to have good grammar and spell things correctly. The introduction is the last thing you write that will make or break my, and everyone else's, chances of joining your roleplay.
Step four: Be in my literacy range This isn't hard. I can mirror up to five or six paragraphs per post, and I'm comfortable with posts one or two paragraphs long. So long as what's written is good, I don't really care. People posting in all caps or forgetting that paragraphs are a nice way to break up a wall of text will indeed lower the chances or me joining your roleplay.
xxx If your roleplay has gotten this far, chances are I would join your roleplay. The rest is just gravy: I don't like slots, especially if they say what kind of personality my character should have, how old s/he should be, what color hair they should have... Jobs are fine, but don't get too into it.
Let me post my own profile. I'm mature enough to not say, 'Hee hee, I think I'll have my character be able to shoot fireballs now.' If there's a typo in the bio, I don't want to PM you saying, 'oopsie i forgot how to spell 'forgotten'. can u change it 4 me?'
Keep the roleplay organized. Put profiles in their own thread, keep OOC out of the RP thread, and for god's sake, don't send me on a wild goose chase to find the subject for the profile submission PM. What, you say that last example didn't belong there? Good job, you're on your way to being organized.
Really, it's not that hard to get me to join. I said nothing about stories, or setting, or age/race/ability limitations, or anything else that would instantly make your roleplay intrinsically unjoinable. I like joining new and different things, but those things that I listed off, those four steps? That's all it takes.
Happy trails, reader.
