I don't deal with shmucks!
My First Concert
I woke up at 9:30am. Recorded Anastasia's A Journey to the Past, with HARMONIES for "In Harmony" Round 2! I rushed towards the end because I only had 30 minutes to submit and 1 hour to get ready for the concert!
Didn't matter. Deadline was extended, and I was going to be late anyways.
Mom was upset already from me staying home to record instead of going to clean the house with her. She wasn't just upset. She was pissed, and held that anger the whole way on the trip. She kept complaining about it taking 42 minutes instead of 21 minutes like the map said. We became totally and utterly lost. Along the way, we asked several people for directions, some not helping at all. Mom was ******** loosing it. Balling/sobbing, cursing like the dickens, shouting at the top of her lungs. It was awful because I didn't even have my headphones for my iPod. At one point, we were going to be traveling down a really long interstate that would take us like 1000 miles out. Nope. Mom made an illegal U-turn and we asked for directions from a gas stop guy that wasn't even from the area. Turns out he's the one that helped us the most by saying where he saw a Russian-esque building down the way called Salt Air.
Let me tell you. By the time we left, I wasn't worried about being too late. By 7:30, I was like "******** it" let's just turn back. By 8pm while we were out in country farm land I REALLY couldn't have cared less and was ready to go home and sob in the closet for the rest of the night then repress everything. But after we passed through all of the beautiful mountains, that I SWEAR could have been from a show on the travel channel, and The Great Salt Lake, and the beautiful clouds after the rain and annnd... I just felt at ease even though we were an hour late, and mom was already on a mental break down. I surprised myself with how in control of my emotions I was. seeing the shimmering lake and the reddish-orange sunset to my right, and beautiful steamy cloud-ridden mountains to my immediate left was simply... worth the whole trip. I was ready to turn back then feeling fulfilled. But nope. We found the place! We had to park, walk down a road only to find out our car is in danger of getting towed, park again, and start walking towards the concert building that sat right beside the lake. As we approached, I could hear a female voice singing and the crowd going wild. IT WAS KIMBRA!!!! Guess what. Just as we arrived, Kimbra had already performed and left the building. Blah. :C Plus, the whole place was PACKED, and mom and I are short. I sighed with a smile as Mayor Hawthorne played, knowing I missed my chance to see Kimbra. We finally eased to the right where there was more open space, but still really tall people. I ended up staying there most of the night. After Hawthorne was done, mom and I were getting ready to leave. I went to take pictures of the GORGEOUS sunset by the lake. Many people were relaxing out there. I saw two girls with turquoise Kimbra dots on their face like in her music video "I Look to You" and complimented them, turns out they missed out on Kimbra too. Luckily before we left, mom asked a worker why people weren't clearing out yet. FOSTER THE PEOPLE WAS PLAYING NEXT HOT DAMN WE ALMOST LEFT BEFORE THAT!!! XD I rushed back into my pretty okay spot. Besides, the middle pit was so damn hot people were passing out... and I was wearing a sweater. ^^; They threw water bottles and water-gunned the audience a few times though. Foster The People live, is pretty damn awesome. I'll remember it for the rest of my life... what I COULD see anyways~ I saw Mark Foster's lovable smile, that just shouted "I FOOKING LOVE WHAT I'M DOING I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!" and his bass player's awesome hair cut. And the wonderful lights~ I was so PUMPED when they played "I Would Do Anything For You". I scream, sang along, clapped, etc~ THAT made me REALLY happy. <3 So many of their songs got stuck in my head. I should have been better prepared and memorized more of their lyrics. xP Welp, the show was coming to an end... And just like I hoped -- Kimbra came back in her rainbow poncho and purple dress to sing "Warrior" with Mark. MY LIFE WAS ******** MADE AT THAT MOMENT! She has such an awesome stage presence!! I, of course, screamed, shouted, hooted & hollered, fangirled, squeed, jumped up and down, clapped so damn hard and loud, and did something that can actually be considered a dance! I got so hot and sweaty!! 4laugh I think Mark looked over and smiled at me for being so enthusiastic! Or not. I dunno~ :B I was happy. I actually prayed to God on the trip over that in the end everything would be alright. And it was. It really, really was just fine. ; v;
Foster ended the concert with a smooth song. And before people could clear out, (it was 10:50pm) they shouted encore, because of course, they had yet to play their most popular song, Pumped Up Kicks -- can't leave before then!! Mark came back out and oh how the crowd CHEERED! They played the song. It got a little bit techno/dance pop at the end there which was awesome. Everyone sang along/shouted along at the chorus. Jumped up and down. I even jumped up and down singing, and smiling, and just having a really good time~ Right on beat, CONFETTI exploded into the crowd and they went wild! God. I was just ******** happy! XD
Well it was time to go. I got a few more pictures in. Soaked in my time there as people were smushing together to get out, and we headed for the car waaaaaay on the other side of the lot. (Oh that reminds me one of the "waiting" songs they played between bands was a Gorrillaz song. ^^)
We found the car, panicked as we inched our way across the lot, hoping we wouldn't crash into others who were trying to get out the horridly packed place. Got onto the main high way and it was smooth sailing from there. I could actually see stars. And the moon was shining bright albeit it through some thick clouds. .........We could have taken a very simple and quick and straight highway route to that darn place it turns out... good to know for next time. - w-; (lolmumford&sons?)
I covered my face with my hands and began to silently cry in the backseat, because I was so happy. I wanted to cry tears of joy and I did. T vT I had just been to my first concert, with the AMAZING Foster the People, Mayor Hawthorne AND KIMBRA no less, and I loved it. Didn't need kava kava for that right there. > w> And to think, I was ready to give up and go back several times, while my mom was throwing her fits and refusing to stop trying. I have her to thank for my wonderfully absurd yet absolutely brilliant first concert tonight (last night, lul).
I'll be much better prepared next time. It's a good thing, in a way, that I didn't see/hear Kimbra at the beginning, because she's headline back here in Salt Lake October 2nd! THAT'S when I'll enjoy a real good Kimbra concert, and her songs will be like new! x3
Aaahhh. Good night. Yes. Indeed.

Oh, and third place technically for this round of In Harmony. Whoah~ Made new friends pretty much, since everyone there is so like-minded. We talked about our journey experiences over a skype call, so you KNOW it's the start of a wonderful and weird friendship. whee https://www.box.com/s/12a801b8f39dd9e5368e, https://www.box.com/s/f162c4ff5760b6ab5cd7
And Amanda finally got back to me with 3 complete drawings for my Lunchlady Land timeline photo idea~ Awesomeness. Total awesomeness.
I need to send out Dev's present TOMORROW. No more excuses or delays.
And last night, while we were driving home, I decided I need to go to college for my life to progress anywhere in any direction. So my plan WAS to apply for fafsa and do a college search before I got distracted by Skype. ^^;;; Now it's 4:17am, and I really should hit the hay. Gonna check on my Reddit buddy first though. :B

Life. It's what... you make it? Durrr I dunno. Go ta sleep. xd
