Tiena perched high in the wooden bones of the rafters, scuttling from slat to slat reaching higher into the darkened corners of her rooms vaulted ceilings.
"Beggel! Beggel!" she called down to the small boy below whose large eyes were like the deep foggy more to the west. They tugged at her until she called defeat and came tumbling down to meet him. he wasn't much for climbing and yet she was still aching to mouse her way back.
"Beggel, the dust was more than a Tuffet thick this time!" Tiena smiled soot faced and yet still beaming with pride at her find. she hoped that might rouse him for a game of horse flies, but it only tickled a sigh from the boys lips.
"Tiena, you know your mother doesn't want us to meet anymore. my father either." he said between sighs. Tiena merely shrugged him away a tinge of disappointment putting a stitch in her brow. she hated hearing about this. Why her parents had decided she must stop playing childish games and settle down into school work and house work. about how Beggel was to start his own training and needn't the childish fanciness of her own creation distracting him. She needed to mature. needed to be a woman, and one that when both Beggel and her studies concluded, could make a good wife for Beggel and he a good husband to her.
"ah toadspuff" she smiled and looked to Beggle the stitch smoothing from her brow as she dawned her usual happy demeanor. "common Beggel....tell me you aren't the least bit excited."
he looked at her and smiled, she never let anything get to her for too long, and though it worried him that she might cause more trouble he couldn't stay mad at her.
"a whole Tuffet?"
The laugh that erupted from her rang to the top most piers in the great vaulted ceilings. as they raced again to the rafters tumbling and tickling one another to the top.
they could spend the rest of their lives like this...even if its only these moments Tiena thought. i'd rather it be this way for as long as it can....
