Each reunion is a twist of the knife.
The joy is ephemeral; it leaves fear in its wake...
A fear that all too soon the time will come when you must bid farewell again.
Yet you cannot help but long for the next encounter.
Humanity's great frailty...
We prefer past happiness to future uncertainty.
This room; this small dungeon chamber altered the very course of history, twisting mankind; removing the shroud to reveal the ugliest side of human nature which set into motion. The true events that would bring about darkness; consuming the light. The Paladin had become a prisoner to the Sky lands shortly as he washed up on the shores. No pity given for his wounds or medicine provided, but they did make sure that the male was kept alive. For him to die now would be a loss for them. The Earth Kingdom cost them a King and so, they sought to get any information from the soldier that they could. No matter the cost or price. The week that followed was nothing short of darkness. Caelum was locked away in a room, underneath the Castle with little food and water given to him. Any source of light had come from a candle which lasted only for a few hours before being snuffed out. But none of these things had bothered the man, no, because he had larger fears. Convinced of the knowledge to be extracted from the man, the Sky Wardens discarded their humanity; placing Caelum deep within the castle; in the bowels of the dungeons. This would become a treacherous place Caelum wishes he could wipe from his memory. The tortures he endured here are unspeakable; torments of both a mental and physical nature. Caelum was assaulted, often to death, but a psychic type was kept for Caelum' cell; making it easy to continue torture immediately after his body had healed. And when his body could withstand no more, the attack on his mind would begin. Sky Warden pokemon are manipulative and illusionary in place of combative. With most heinous trickery; the wicked chameleons created false images; twisting Cael' perception of reality; pushing his mind to the brink. Every night had come to the beginning of nightmares and every morning continued with a tantrum of screaming once he awoke.
Yet, the Paladin did not break when it seemed his sanity left him a long time ago.
The Psychic attacks were personal and private whenever they stepped into his cell and started their attempts. The visions that were experienced were unknown to all but him, as the creatures were trying to use his own psyche to turn against him in order to pull out the information they needed. People that only Caelum knew would come to haunt him in these times and his blood went cold each time he saw them. The Prince of the Earth Kingdom would appear, sometimes of different ages depending upon what Cael felt made him feel more guilty, and he would scream at him. "Murderer! It's all your fault, Caelum! The real reason my mother left the castle was because you convinced her to do it! Murderer! You were the one!" The raw rage in his voice made the Paladin focus only more as he could not believe how realistic it sounded. For a boy that he knew from such a young age, to speak to him in such a manner, and the worst fact being that it sounded all too realistic as well was- "I..never intended.." Excuses came to him naturally as he was in denial of the guilt himself. Deep inside, Caelum knew that a part of him had convinced the Queen of the Earth to take for the journey that she set out to do. "I trusted you! She trusted you! Give her back! Give her back to me!" Caelum desperately wanted to above everything. The ability to turn back time and redo the mistakes he made in his life was all too a tempting a thought, but he knew that it was also impossible. Aata was dead and- "How could you, Caelum?" Every fiber in the knight's body suddenly tensed as he heard the mature tone of his closest friend and liege, the King of the Earth, Dimitar. Unlike his son, Dimitar only spoke calmly, albeit so cold that it frosted Caelum's heart to know that his friend discovered the possible truth. "When everyone around you did not wish for you to be a knight, I trusted in you. Because I felt you were honorable, and now this...? You wound me more deeper than anyone else could." In truth, Caelum spent his entire life in service to the King because of the guilt he faced. The fact that the man lost someone so precious to him made Cael feel responsible for him. In becoming his Lord's shadow, Caelum wished to make up for his sins, but they mere accumulated in his heart. Dimitar's friendship was bittersweet for him in the end. For as close as the two became, Cael could never give back the King's happiness to him in which he took. Caelum could do nothing for Dimitar. "I...beg of you...forgive me..." The request was born from the deepest part in his heart. The Paladin made a mistake and it hurt him to know he was the cause of Dimitar's pain, but as a friend, he did not wish to lose him. He prayed for forgiveness. "I could never forgive you, Caelum. Never. I should have never trusted you." After Dimitar said that, the looming silence that followed was only met by the sounds of Caelum's soul breaking at the seams. In one last desperate attempt to beg, but instead saw the meek mage that was always buried in a book, but now she had none in her hands. She stared at him with the utmost fury and revulsion that Cael never thought her face could make, for Lavendel never expressed more emotion in her life than she did right now. Her words were straight to the point and hit hard, "You're from the Darkness Kingdom." Caelum could not help but notice her small balled fists trembling as she was squeezing her fingers so hard that he was surprised she did not draw blood. "This entire time you've been lying to everybody. You don't belong here! You're the enemy! You're worse than the enemy because you kill your own people! You like it!" Caelum shook his head wildly, his long and messy hair having been scattered across his face as it no longer had its beautiful gleam anymore. "You're wrong! I wanted to protect you all! I-I don't enjoy fighting!" She bared her teeth at him like he just said the worst thing to her. "Liar! You're a goddamn liar! I've seen you! Everyone has seen you! You love the fighting! You want more of it! You're exactly like those disgusting Darkness soldiers that killed everyone I cared about! You're a goddamn murderer and you love it!" She was spouting curses at him now. Unforgiving and enraged, Lavendel became the representation of everything nobody could forgive him for being: a darkblood. "How can anyone trust a person that kills his own race! And then love it?! You're the most despicable person! I...I hate you..." She was crying now, breaking down herself as she fell to her knees and he was left unable to move from his position, restrained by chains and his own lack of understanding. To give her comforting words now would just be a large affront to her and so, he watched the small mage cry and felt nothing from it. But silently, his heart weeped with her. Caelum merely bowed his head in silent resignation.
Silence followed soon after and Caelum knew that that this small break was merely a change of structure for the psychic attack that was to come after. If guilt and heartbreak wasn't going to make him talk, then seduction and temptation was the next try they would do.
