Musings of the Ootsutsuki
Greed's Revenge
Mammon was never the greatest individual. He was stubborn to a fault, loved to swindle people out of their possessions, and generally hated most of Humankind. At one point he had planned to overthrow the Devil. Most of the Underworld genuinely disliked him. It was only through sheer strength and cunning that he wasn't killed prior to his ascension to his place as Royal of Greed. And that was the reason why he was left to die.

The Exorcist faction had caught wind of his presence in London. They were tired of the wild goose chase that he had led them on throughout the entire planet. No longer would they entertain him and his desires. Brax and his party were sent to eliminate him. Greed had been in the middle of an important meeting with the CEO of Microsoft when they had ambushed him. In the chaos that transpired, the Demon had slipped away.

He had called the others for help. Lucifer, Leviathan, Behemoth, Asmodeus, Abbadon, and Gressil. He had tried to refrain from involving Astaroth in the conflict as he was currently under the radar. There was no way for him to locate the Sloth at that point in time. Plus, he had started having affection for Astaroth. One that eclipsed the crush he had had on Lust. Astaroth was better off staying as far away as possible.

And no one had answered him.

Part of him wanted to blame Lucifer. He was so prideful and set in his ways that it was plausible. They had never quite liked each other due to Satan's favoritism, Pride was the apple of his eye. Supposedly the best of the best in their generation. Greed wanted that role for himself. He was jealous of Pride and refused to cooperate under most circumstances. Pride returned that tenfold. It was only sensible that for him to assume that he was behind this.

Lucifer had the authority to overrule the others. Should the Devil's son decide he wanted to leave Greed's life to fate, the rest of the Royal Demons had no chose but to accept the fact. Leviathan would've surely answered his summons. He was by far the nicest of them and the most friendly. He would've arrived to help him in his time of need at any cost to himself. Not that the Royal of Greed would've left him to die in his place.

In spite of his rather distasteful traits, he genuinely cared for his comrades.

But that was not to be.

The other six had left him to die at the hands of the Exorcist faction. And they were dead to him.

He crouched beneath a dumpster and contemplated his options. He had lost his scroll in the middle of battle, stranding him in England for the time being. The first course of action would be to set up a headquarters. Although that was too bold a word for what he had in mind. Safehouse would better fit the description. He would need to find a safe location for that first. Then he could further plan out his revenge.

Where was safe from the Exorcists, however?

Greed wasn't stupid enough to remain in England. That was out of the question! Brax would no doubt think to search the country for him. And as prideful as he was in his abilities, he wasn't capable of hiding underneath the nose of the enemy. It was suicidal at best. The Underworld was certainly out of the question as well. Satan would no doubt trust the judgement of his oldest son and kill the disgraced Royal himself. Another suicidal thought.

The others were based in most of the main countries all over the Earth. They were out of the question as well. If he so much as made an appearance in their "territory", they would tattle on him to Lucifer. And he wasn't the unquestioned leader of the Royal faction for no reason. He was the strongest and would no doubt murder him in cold blood if he had the chance. Sloth might shelter him for a time. But they weren't on the best of terms.

He had tried to court his equal just a week prior. It had failed miserably.

Mammon nibbled on his lip as he racked his mind for what few options were left. Then it slowly dawned on him. No one in the Catholic religion would think to look for him in Jerusalem! It was considered neutral territory due to the Jewish faith that practically ran the settlement. And as much as he risked in going there, he would lose far more in going somewhere else.

And it was just his luck that he kept his host's passport on him in case of emergencies.

To Jerusalem it was.

In the darkness of the alleyway, Greed's eyes burned crimson.
