Heavy Hold
I hang onto the side of the cliff.
Wanting so hard to let go.
But, my heart and mind screams, "No!"
I clench hard onto my shirt.
Death is being such a flirt.
The edge tries to shake me off.
Prying at my fingers.
Yet, I continue to dig my nails into the cliff.
Take a sniff of the ocean.
The salt stinging my throat
as the ocean calls for my vote.
Just waiting to engulf me in its waves,
I let out one last holler.
This time it was a different one.
As if it was long note,
life is what I sought.
Never have I felt so much energy.
I want to keep pushing,
but death kept shushing.
It just knows where it hurts,
and where it burns.
Collecting all of our ashes into its personalized urns.
