Tiers of Expectations
You and them.
Them and you.
Pile the expectations up high
until my body and soul give out and die.
Pile them onto my arms like books.
I cannot meet them all at once.
Yet, if I did or come close to it,
You among many do not see it fit.
I am climbing
to the point of crawling, even.
But, the tiers won't stop adding.
The pyramid won't stop growing.
The stairs won't stop swirling.
Please stop.
Just answer me.
Am I enough?
Won't I just be for once enough?
My cries enter through deaf ears.
For years and years,
they complain about me not listening.
That is it.
Is it not?
It is all about you.
It has been so since day one and through.
One day,
just one day.
When all those tiers fall on my head,
When all those pyramid blocks crumble on top of my conscious body,
When all those stairs collapse underneath my feet,
is when you among them are concerned.
For your information and concern,
I am fine.
With a deep bloody gash on my head,
when was I of your concern?
