Today was a great day all around.
I got to take my horse on a "field trip" to a local park, and see how she acts away from teh barn. Since she was awesome, I believe that I will enjoy all outings in the future with her.
I half expected that she was going to go nuts with all of the commotion around, (kids playing soccer in the field next door, wind rustling trees, the thunder that was booming overhead, *no lightning*, etc), but she was calm and cool.
SHe was a bit hard to turn in her canter, though, and that worries me. We have put her through two bit changes since I bought her, and I worry that she will need harder and harder bits simply to be controlled. Hopefully I can stop that in it's tracks by working harder on having her "give her head", and stop faster.
We also took my neighbor's horse on the trip, and he was wonderful as well. Normally, in the indoor arena that we have, we cannot get him to move without using spurrs over and over again. Outside, he will canter from teh walk and the jog, and without any hesitation. Now to get him to give his head more....(he flings it up in the air as high as it will go when cantering)
I also got to talk to my boyfriend MANY times, and have enjoyed having him "around". Since we don't live in the same state, *YET!*, we hav to get by with convos on the internet, (I'm not much of a phone person), and having him on the internet lots really goes a long way towards getting through the "separation".
