Cirian Academy Elite Class As Observed by Gades Rubiss
Note: Although the Magic Academies have established the acceptance of any willing race for students over a century ago, the average statistics point that the majority of students, approximately 75% of the student body, is actually human. About 5 % are high elves, which are more likely to be enrolled in the 3rd Year and up "Elite Class" Honors. Also, 10% is supposed to be made up of the Mythrian Race, beings with jewels on their foreheads, and flexible muscle tissue nearly as resilient as diamond. I guess out of the remaining 10% “other” category, us psychic Mitalins are about a third of that. By the way, if I haven’t mentioned a student’s Race, they’re most likely to be human. Although, I’m starting to have my suspicions about one of them...
1. Rose Twiline Head of the class and a powerful elven mage, which allows Proffessor Hunt to gloat openly about her. Miss Rose is both my student mentor and best friend. She's a mature, compassionate individual so she tends to take care of the rest of us like an older sister. This makes her very reliable. Other than than, her strong sense of justice and her idealist ways make her a little on the naive side, so James and I worry about her at times. She's a good teacher, a great friend, and an ideal partner to me. We're just not as close as what others think, although it's odd about how many other relationships people seem to believe I'm in. Anyway, her specialty is lightening spells, but she can use incredibly powerful spells with the other elements. Also, she's actually the same age as the rest of us, which is 10 years.
2. Gades Rubiss (Me)
Yeah, this is yours truly. I know I look like an innocent little boy in my picture, but the only thing that's true here is that I'm short. Other than that, I admit that I have a bit of a "sinister streak" in me. I tend to be the cunning, calculating one amongst my fellow peers, but as an unusal contradiction, I'm usually honest as well. Go figure. Well, my black hair and ruby eyes have lead people to believe I'm a vampire and demon, among other unfortunate things. It makes me wonder what kind of things my mother dealth with. In this school, people see me as either reliable, demented, or some casual playboy. For the record: I don't enjoy flirting with girls. It's not my fault a few of the most "beautiful" girls in this school have taken notice of me! Getting the attention of cute girls makes me nervous! It gets worse when Professor Hunt gives me assignments which somehow involve the protecting and/or saving of some cute girl. Playing the hero bothers me at times, and my actions sometimes rewards me with... "over affection". Before I get too carried away, My speciality is fire magic, although ice/water spells come to a close second. Some people think my affinity is wind, but that's only because that was my Father's specialty, of which he spent a good amount of time turtoring me on. I admit that I'm pretty powerful compared to the other mages of the academy, but I preffer stressing restraint. I value control among other things.
3. Annis Reinheld
This crazy girl is my so-called "rival", and a short, conceited, narcasisstic b***h. Yes, I called her a b***h, and it's pretty rare of me to swear like this, but that's about how bad she is. Ever since I showed her up took her spot as 2nd best of class, she's had a personal vendetta against me. Truth is, she was competing against Miss Rose for the top spot until I came along, so now she's just trying to make my life a living hell. She's one of the many reasons I despise aristrocrats, but she's just horrible. She'll do anything to try to make me look bad by whatever means. Luckily for me, I'm able to outsmart her at every turn. Even more convenient is that I can manipulate her will, whenever I find the chance to make her angry. It's quite fun, actually! In our magical duels, she's never defeated me, nor made it worth so much of my time. Sure, she can give me a little struggle every now and then, but I rarely resort to utilizing my full power. So, she isn't really much of a rival to me, is she? Well, her specialty is ice magic, which is conveniently the opposite of my element, and she favors crushing her oponents at full strength. Her predicatable approach disapoints me, just a little.
4. Serena Alestecia
What is there to say about her? She has a really long full name, and her mindset's a little vague. She sorta reminds me of my Mother, but she smiles way more often, with that semi-calm look on her face. She's a fellow Mitalin, but she's lived in the city much longer than I have, so our lifestyles are different, too. I guess that the closest relationship we have going is most comparable like distant cousins. We're okay. I just go to her whenever I need some extra notes for a lesson, and Miss Rose and Master James don't happen to be availible to me. Overall, she's a decent nice girl. Her affinity is ice magic, but I have never seen her in action, so I can't confirm her power level, or her approach with magic.
5. Sighalen Elliwood
He's another high elf, like Miss Rose. Unfortunatley, he's more of the stereotypical high elf, which mean's he's an arrogant intellectual type. He's the kind of person that relies solely on logic, that logic is the key to anything. This simple approach makes him a formidable opponent, and a very studious mage, but I enjoy testing his belief from time to time. It's not that I disagree with him. I actually understand his way of thinking, it's just that I see how flawed his methodology can be, and I really love teaching him a lesson about that. He can make the most out of casting earth-based spells.
6. Ketrinaguam Amore
Meet the aloof prettyboy of the bunch. He perplexes me, to be honest. Usually, it's types like him that end up being the top of the class, with their inexplicable drive to be the best, but in this case, I don't think he actually gives a care. He's mid-tier among our class, but he's still pretty powerful. As an interesting note, he's a calculating character among us as well, and at times, I feel like we share the exact same thoughts at time. Why would I think like this guy? That's creepy! Anyway, it seems that a lot of girls have taken notice in him. Good for him, but I don't think he's really interested. He has no elemental affinity as far as anyone can tell, so he's equally profficient in any spell type.
7. Scarlet Valentine
She's an interesting little lady, I admit. Scarlet's an active, sociable tomboy who's caught the attention of most of the guys in the academy. For some reason, she's taken special interest in me, which sparks some unneeded jealousy in the process. She tends to be forward with me, moreso than others, and approaches me with her most engaging smile, but I'm more skeptical than anything. Whenever I ask her about her behavior towards me, she just says I'm "very interesting". I don't know how to respond to this, as she still talks openly with all the the other guys. I suppose the most distinguishing trait about Scarelt is that she's "developing" earlier than the other girls, which would further explain her popularity. Because she appreciates "burning passion", Scarlet is a fire specialist like myself, but preffers to be agressive at close range. Her favorite spell summons forth a flaming sword, which she is perfectly capable of using, when I think about the last few duels I've had with her. She can be tough, and she excels at putting pressure on her foes. As a side note, she also has a younger sister attending. Personality wise, she's almost the exact opposite of her sister, but she's cute and likeable, nonetheless.
8. Nina Springfield
She scares me. Not because she has a bad aura or anything. She just.... seems unstable at times. By "unstable", I mean "violent mood swings". Some would believe it has something to with approaching adolescence, but nobody else in our class is experiencing her "temperament". She can be really happy at one moment, then really angry the next, and then she just would just be extremly relaxed. What really makes her overzealous is when someone brings up the topic of medicinal herbs, because she happens to know a lot about those. This book lover wants to become a nurse when she grows up, and she wants to further delve into her love of herbology so that she can make her own contributions to the world of medicine. It's amazing how serious and focus she gets when she reads about this kind of thing, but other than that, she can be unpredicable. I... almost had to resort to self-defense on the occasion when she looked like she would hurt people. Thankfully, she's a very reliable friend when it counts, but I'm not exactly one of her best friends. At the very least, she likes me, so we're okay with eachother. She specializes in earth magic, and prefers a defnsive stradegy, which works well with earth spells. Unfortunatley for her, I can exploit defensive weakpoints rather easily.
9. Sherri Langley
I call her "Cherry", because she's kinda sweet like that. Anyway, Cherry is probably one of the smartest people in our class, but she's quiet and not very confident in herself. It's a bit of a shame she's like this, but it actually makes her cuter. Anyway, I can see just how much potential she has, so she's definitely worthy of being one of the elites. Professor Hunt is considering having me tutor her for a little while, and I'll be perfectly happy to take that opportunity, if it arises. I don't know how she retains that constant blushing, but it isn't detracting any of her cuteness. Man, she's adorable. Anyway, her specialty is wind magic, which she can cast beautifully. Again, she's one of the numerous girls I'm not really a couple with. I know how I've been talking about her, but I see her as the little sister I enjoy doting on. Being the youngest boy in a family can do unusual things to you at times.
10. Marco Volphied
He amuses me. He is just a pure soure of enjoyment. Why? He has a faux horsehead on a stick which he rides around on like some witch's broom. It's really funny when you see the cheerful, fuzzy horse head flying in the sky. The truth of the matter is, Volphied's hobby horse is a mystical object called the Mare Staff, which greatly enhances lightening and speed-based spells, and is ideally incorporated into his tactics. Volphied himself is a headstrong hero type, who prefers charging in and using straightforward tactics to overwhelm his enemies. Interestingly, he's also a noble who enjoys wearing his long feathered hat and his nobleman's outfit on his off-time. He refers to himself as the "Magic Knight" as he flies around like a goofball on his Mare staff. Out of all the students in our class, I would say he's the most predictable fellow ever. Despite that, he's pretty good. He just needs to work on his stradegy, and he'll be just fine against the more tricky people in this world. I've read in some of the history books that it's his type that become some of the great heroes of their times, and his hidden potential supports this possibility. I mean, his potential is amazing! He could actually grow to match some of the toughest wizards if he can realize it! For now, I'll just have to hope that his stubborn ways won't be his downfall. In the mean time, I'll just have to keep putting pressure on him in our duels. He's learning a little with each encounter, but for now, I can still outdo him quite easily. His specialty his lightening and speed-based spells, like I said earlier. I find it interesting that he's rivals with Nina. Good luck with that!
11. Mills Mendell
For an Elite, he doesn't stand out to me. He feels relatively bland compared to the other students, but I understand the reason. Like Volphied, his potentiel is largely unrealized. Sadly, this is to such an extreme level, because he lacks dueling experience. He's quiet, he's earnest, and amazingly naive. I really know his type. Actually, I guess I can sympathize with him, if only on the surface. You know, except for the "naive" part. I'm not much for being naive. Anyway, he's an all around nice guy, kinda like Master James, just not as much of an upstanding nerd. I guess he's the kind of person that you can either like or hate. I'm sure you can tell where I stand on this already. Without a dominant preference, he doesn't have an afinity. That's okay, as it will give him an equal chance at experimenting with the elements. The Mare Staff boy Volphield is his best friend and partner. Perhaps the two of them might grow stronger together as heroes-in-the-making.
12. Jerimiah Greenvale
Everybody in this calls him "Jimmy" in our class. He isn't much in the way of offensive magic, actually. What got him in the Elite class in the first place is mostly his book knowledge. He's our class' history buff, so he's pretty handy in that regard. Jimmy can make a fairly precise analysis on all of us, but he can never use that to his advantage in duel. It's quite a shame, really. Also, he happens to be the shortest person in our class. He's shorter than me, and even shorter than Annis, which is a feat. He's even nerdier than James, who's practically the consumate nerd. Just don't tell him I said any of this, because he's my friend.
