Once again is Christmas in Gaia and if you thought it was great last year, this year was even better. Let's start with the map decorations, Barton and Gambino are the same, only that Barton don't have a tree in the middle this time and Durem is new for everyone as well as the fields:
(Please excuse the huge pictures)
Let's not forget the NPCs, neat costumes even though they look similar:
Some of you may seem familiar to you from last year but take a closer look at the backgrounds and you will notice differences in the decorations. (Watch December 2003 for this)
There were new Christmas costumes released to the stores like the penguin suit and such. whee Now let's move to the events that obviously Gaia had in store for us, first we got the Carolling event from the 21st to Christmas Eve were we could go to the stores and sing to the NPCs, we had to wait 10 minutes between every song, if we tried to sing earlier we got messages like this:
And if we could sing but tried to sing to the same NPC again we got messages like this:
We couldn't carol to old man Logan (owner of the fishing store) he said that ''Carolling and fishing doesn't match''. xp
We knew when to sing because we saw this icon:
After carolling to 5 NPCs we got a present from the last NPC we sang to:
There are 3 of each color, green are from Barton town, blue are from Isle de Gambino and brown are from Durem. Presents from Ian, Leon, Agatha, Vanessa, Moira, Edmund, Meredith, Sasha and Ruby and Peyo. Try to calculate the time spent in collecting them all, is 50 minutes per present multiplied by 9 presents in total = 450 minutes. eek No sweat, I got them all plus extras. blaugh
In Christmas Day they opened an we got Spirited items, and also the Carolling event got extended because of several users complaining about the hours, some could not carol because of school and work. We could only carol from 12pm-12am GST (Gaia Standard Time) after those hours we had to wait, it was 12 Gaia hours and 6 hours in real life.
After the Carolling a day later the donation letters opened holding an OMFG Hat or new version of the OMG Hat from November 2003 and a Fire Gauntlet, I prefer the hat. xp
Also there was a kissing event were we could kiss other gaians whenever we saw a mistletoe over our avatar head and click on the avatar we wanted to kiss. The result was a lovely one:
The word ''Kissed!'' appeared, you could also get kissed if someone clicked you. I remember the amount of kissing threads in the Chatterbox by this time. stare The kissing continued from the 25th to the 31st and no items were rewarded. (Finally an event for our pleasure and no pressure of being online all the time getting items) biggrin
Yes, there was list of the top 10 kissers or kissed, never made it to those lists. sad
Now the most important part of the event, Gambino's story continues, after the Mansion disaster we were left in suspense about what would happen to him or his son Gino, who is still missing. Here is the link to the story:
Story
But just in case I will post it here for you, enjoy ^_^:
This is Cindy Donovinh reporting for GAIA 9 Action News.
This holiday, we present to you a story of a different nature. Johnny K. Gambino was once the richest, most powerful man in GAIA. However, after the bizarre incident on Halloween that left his mansion in ruin and his son Gino missing, Mr. Gambino can now be considered GAIA's most powerless man. How can a man once revered for his power and influence now be reduced to a homeless, wandering soul, with no family or friends? Our prayers go out to you Mr. Gambino!
Also, from now til New Years is the annual Mistletoe Madness event! You can follow that here with us!
Isle De Gambino - The Quest Begins
A GAIA Christmas Story by VO, L0cke & Ling
I sit here on this crate in a crater that was once my home. It's been 55 days since that night. My greatest achievement and my biggest mistake.
This photograph is all that I have left. My mansion... in ruin. My riches... gone. My son, my dearest son ... missing. And to top it all off, it's Christmas day.
But what is this I see?! A glimmer of hope. Gino could still be alive! He must be. He's crafty like his old man.
I embark on a quest inspired with hope! Afterall, it IS Christmas day! It is a time for miracles. Bah, I make MY OWN miracles.
Port of Gambino - Oh what fun it is to ride...
I make my way south and what do I see? Sasha and Moira, off to some party. These young girls make me sick.
They think of nothing but fun, of self-enjoyment and carelessness. Do they not know what it means to have lost something special in their lives? Do they even care that, while they are having a blast, others are suffering and are in need? *sigh* I wish I could go too, but I am determined to find my son!
Bass'ken Lake - An empty whole.
Ah, tis old man Logan fishing away. Bass'ken lake is iced over yet he is still determined to catch something. Here is a man so dedicated in his craft that he shuns everything else. An admirable way of life, though a lonely one. Is this what lies in store for me? Am I also fated to be alone?
Ah, at least I can take solace in knowing that I'm not the only one alone on Christmas day. Perhaps I can join Logan here and help him catch a fish or two. ^^
Nevermind.
Barton West - Can't buy me love.
It's so cold outside, even the green of Barton West is frosted over with white. Though despite the cold, there are people who brave it in order to spend their money. I was once the richest man in GAIA. I could've bought anything I wanted. And now look at me. What does money and physical things mean when there is no one to share those things with? I wonder if anyone got me a gift this year? I suppose not.
Durem - A friend in need is a friend indeed.
In times of need, you can always count on friends. Edmund, is one of those men. Honorable and kind, yet strict and controlled.
He is one of the only men in this world who I would call "friend." He's on THE LEVEL.
But sometimes friends have obligations. -_-;; *ring ring* "What's up, V? Oh, ok I'll be right over."
And it's times like these that remind you that friends are only temporary. Family is forever. "You understand right, man?"
"Yeah, I understand."
Barton Town - The breaking point.
It's been such a long day. I've searched all of the land and yet Gino is nowhere to be found.
A voice of a child! GINO!? Could that be you?
No, not him but another child. I believe this little one is named Peyo. He is Ruby's child. Ruby... they look so happy. So warm and content. They may not have much, but they have it all.
I CANNOT TAKE THIS ANY LONGER!
Durem Reclamation Facility - Miracles CAN happen.
This facility represents my soul. A barren wasteland scorched by ice. A craggy, dangerous place where all the waste in GAIA sleeps. No one wants what is kept here.
I am numb. I won't feel a thing. Though at this moment, when nothing is left for me, I can actually feel something. Something holding me back. It's too late for me though. I have nothing. I am GAIA's most powerless man.
The only thing that could save me now is gone. Gino, my son. I never got the chance to tell you...
"Don't do it!!" The voice called out. At the moment of my near demise, a miracle happened. Gino's voice! I am saved!
It really WAS him. Gino, my son. I embraced my son like I never had the time to do before. Though, there was something in his eyes... the same soul, but something different. I then knew what it was when he uttered one question...
"Who are you?"
THE END?!?!
We hope you enjoyed this Christmas story! Stay tuned on GAIA to find out what happens next!
~ VO, L0cke, & Ling
What a conclusion, what will happen now? Will Gino get back his memory? Guess we will have to wait and see in the future. 3nodding
Just today when I made this entry I forgot to say that the Fish Exchange is now opened, get 100 of one fish type for it's cap or 10 of the rare types. Better get our rods ready. 3nodding
Great year in Gaia, here we go 2005! xd
