Love and it's Directions
Chapter 1 The News
"Dead." I thought my heart stopped. "Dead?" I repeated. "Decised."
So here I was at the hospatol to find out if my best friend Kara had lived.
We were Sixteen, had our lisences, her friend was driving. Not only driving, but driving under the influnce. A.K.A., Drunk Driving
Marie, my friends mom, started bauling instantly. I sat motenless. Kara was my best friend. Even since pre-k. If only she hadn't been out. Kara was smart enough to not drink. She knew every law and not to commit crimes.
The driver, I am so mad at the driver. Somehow, he lived. He was a tall guy, blond hair, mussles. And he smelled like rotten eggs. Know why? Methanphetimine. A.K.A, Meth. Also, he was a sex offender. Why Kara was with him. We have no idea.
"Jacie." A cold hand touched my shoulder. "Jacie, honey, we have to go." My mom said. Still, I couldn't move. I must have fallen asleep or something because the next thing I know I'm am in the back seat of my mom's Cherry red '69 Chevelle.
"DAMN IT! WHAT WAS KARA GOING WITH THAT LOSER!" I screamed. "Jacie. Don't. Not now."
Chapter 2 The friend
The next day, Monday, I went to school as usual. Word spred around about what happened. Everyone was telling me "It's OK." Eachtime, I would run away. Finally I sat down and cryed. People got the point I wanted to be alone. Well except for one person. He was my best friend Alex. He was really cute and I liked him. I guess we are good friends because he likes me back but is to afraid to ask me out.
He sat down next to me and said "Jacie. C'mon. It is not the end of the world. Were going out for ice cream after school. He made a funny face. I half smiled. "Hey I know but.... She was gone that quick. The last word she said to me were 'You'll know when it happens.' It was off topic of what we where talking about. Now I know." I started to cry again. Alex pulled me up and said "C'mon. We'll be late for class." He carried my books and everything. We even sat next to each other like a BF and GF couple would.

Chapter 3 The Fealing
If I only had trusted the fact that I could never hold on for long. My heart was mixed emotions right now.. I kept thinking about what happened and it came as a reoccuring dream. I just remember waking up hoping what had happened was a dream and when I found out it wasn't, tears came. I could hold it back much longer. Today, was a day, that was going to change my life forever.
Again at school, Alex carried my books. While we where walking to third period, on the other side of the school, I asked Alex, "Do you like me?".
A look that I have never seen in his eyes came. "I will tell you at lunch. Ok?"
Third period was right before lunch so everything was ok. I kept wondering about the answer until three minutes before the bell rang alex passed me a note. On the front it said 'Don't open until the bell rings.'
Chapter 4 The Note
Yeah I do like you....Alot.... I read. I think I stared to long because Jeica, My enemy said, "Your drooling...Geek..." Alex walked up behind them and said "Hello Losers..." And I think he bumped them away. I looked toward Alex. Then Like a Train, It hit me. Well The signs at least. The fealing of likeing him grew... It exploded with warmth on the outside and some how nerviousness on the inside. Was I afraid if we broke up it wouldn't we wouldn't be friends? I didn't really Pay attention to my internal conflict... I just went on as usual.

Magical Dreams
Chapter 1: A New Day
He said to her, “It doesn’t matter about me. As long as you’re happy, I’m happy. If you ask for a shooting star, I’ll give you the entire night sky…”
I finished the chapter of my story, clicked off my light, and fell asleep. That night, I dreamed a weird dream. Well, my dreams are usually weird. But the way it happened, and on the night it happened, that’s what’s weird.
I remember it was the day before eighth grade and that day I had a huge, gigantic water fight with my friends. My dream started out, well unexplainable. I was in my pool and all of a sudden, I was pulled under by a whirlpool. My friends where laughing thinking it was a joke. The only person who was worried was Hal, my boyfriend. My friends thought that he was a complete retard trying to save me. But, the second he touched my hand, we disappeared into an underground chamber. Keep in mind this was all from a pool. I was really scared in the dream, and in truth, my mind. I knew it was a dream but there was this worried feeling in my gut.
When I woke up that morning, I took a deep breath and shook it off. Little did I know, my dream was about to become a reality.
I went to school as usual, hoping to gain popularity at Riator Jr. High, like I had during my seventh grade year. I made a reunion with my friends and Hal. I just about cried. I had really missed my friends, more then I thought. Jenny had gone to camp, twice. Kylie and Hailey both went on vacation. Hal was the only one to talk to. Not that that’s a bad thing.
I looked over my new schedule. I had P.E. first. I knew we where starting swimming first so I had brought my swimsuit. We where the only school that did P.E. on the first day.
As I lowered myself into the pool, I let the coolness wash over me. Hal, Jenny, and Kylie where in my class. That never happens. I was talking to them while I was squeezing my eyes shut trying not to scream. Mrs.Gladfether let us do an open swim for the first day. I swam out to the 12 foot deep end.
Just floating there felt great. Then I felt something tugging at my foot. There was nothing beneath me, yet, it kept pulling. My entire body kept sinking. I bobbed. I finally couldn’t get back up. It was a whirlpool, just like in my dream. Next thing I knew, Hal was swimming down to save me. Then, he touched my hand and we where in an undersea cave.
“Hey Jen, W…where are we?” He asked.
“Luchia… it’s a… a…” I stuttered.
“A what?”
“A mermaid cave. It’s from my dream. I can’t believe it…”
“Wait, mermaid cave? From your dream? Are you sure the drowning didn’t go to your head?” Hal laughed.
“It’s an exact replica from my dream. I don’t know how it became reality.” I said worried.
“Ok, suppose this is your dream. What happened?”
A took another look around trying to remember.
“I started to cry and then you comforted me and I…” Then I started crying. Then as I predicted, he comforted me.
Chapter 2: Inside the dream
“Do you know where Jennifer Kline and Hal Thorson are?” Mrs. Gladfether asked Jenny, my best friend. Yeah we had the same name but different nicknames. Jenny and Jenna.
“Um No, sorry. I wish I knew…” Jenny said calmly. I was still in the cave trying to explain to Hal what was going on.
“Any minute now, Jenny will come and save us… That’s what happened in my dream.”
“Jenny? You mean one of your best friends? Her?”
“Yeah. I know it sounds kind of weird but it will happen. I know it.” I fiddled with my blonde hair, twisting it around my finger and untwisting it.”
“Hey Jenny!” Kylie called. “Guess what? Derrick asked me out! Isn’t that great?” And with Kylie’s inability to stop she pushed Jenny into the pool. No one came to save her because she was gone.
“Where am I? And why do I feel like I am a… an angel?” Jenny said. She looked around and saw Hal and me.
“Welcome to Luchia.” I said. “The land from my dream.”
“Jenna? Hal? What’s going on here?” Hal simply shrugged and pointed toward me.
“Well, it is my dream. It all came from my dream. But, it is real life… I just know that you are a living angel. You’re here to save us.”
“Angel? What are you talking about? I can’t be an angel.” Jenny gasped.

The Desert Sunset
Written By Caitlin Moats
The train ride there was less then exciting. In the dessert, there was just sand, sand and more sand. The only thing worth seeing out there was the horses. They where so beautiful. I am a tiny horse fan. I have wanted one but that’s about it.
Well, I guess my story really begins at the train station. I got off and collected my luggage. I was in Utah trying to get to my grandfathers… on my own. My mom died when I was seven, she had leukemia. Then a few months ago, my dad died in a plane crash. He was a pilot and the landing gear had been ripped off during take off. When he tried to land the entire cockpit had caught on fire. My family fought for months to figure out where to put me. Finally, they decided on good old Grandpa.
I am not saying Grandpa is bad. He just forgets things easily. I knew he wasn’t going to be at the station, but I thought he would remember I was coming. Well I am getting a head of myself. Let us start at the station.
Chapter 1: From Train to Limo
“Next stop Milford train station!” Charlie the Conductor shouted. I gathered up my gear and waited until the train stopped, then Charlie helped me with my bags and set me off on my way. We had become friends on the train so he was very kind to me.
As the train pulled away from the station, I stood there dumbfounded. I looked around and waddled inside to the man who seemed to be helping people.
“Hello,” I said. “Do you work here?”
“Yes, I think I do.” He said pointing to his work ID badge. “What could I help you with?”
“I am on my way to my grandfather’s house and there is supposed to be a Taxi outside waiting for me.”
“Oh... I had heard about you. You’re train came in a bit early. You are going to have to wait for about fifteen minutes.” He motioned toward a wooden bench. “You should sit there.”
I nodded a thanks and I made my way over to the seat. As the time passed, more people sat down. I finally stood up to let a bouncy little boy sit next to his father. He reminded my of my little brother who had died in an accident my dad was in. He was kind though hyper. I didn’t think much of it but I stood.
“Alicia Monroe?” A man said to me. “I am your limo driver Robert.” He kindly introduced himself.
I shook his hand. It took a minute before I rendered the word Limo.
“L…Limo? I was told I was taking a taxi?” I stuttered.
“I have been serving your Grandfather for twelve years. I thought you knew…” He trailed off.
“Knew what?”
“Oh… You’ll find out soon enough.” He said warmly. “I hope you don’t mind, my son is also moving in with your Grandfather. He lives with my ex-wife and she is kicking him out. My apartment is too small for him. I think he is about your age.”
Great... I wondered. A thirteen year old boy running around the place. I am going to wake up with honey on my face. I hope my room has a lock at least.
Robert helped me with my bags only making me take my book bag with my laptop in it.
“You’ll be glad to know, this area has great wireless connection.” Robert said noticing it.
I smiled and I climbed into the limo. Inside, there was a thirteen year old boy with dark blonde hair. His eyes where opal colored. They could have left you speechless.
“Hey… I am Kenneth.” He said kindly. “Please, call me Kenny. I take it you are the girl I heard was going to be living with me?”
“Well I heard you where going to be living with me. Oh, by the way, I am Alicia. Very nice to meet you.”
The way he looked compared to what I looked like made me feel like a dingbat. His hair was perfectly styled into small spikes, his jeans where very clean and his shirt has so white with Hollister Seagulls on it.
My blonde hair was frazzled because of the humidity change, my jeans that I had worn now day two where faded with dirt spots on them, and I wore a slightly dirty shirt.
Nice way to make an impression, Huh?
“Oh well Alicia, I think we will be O.K. together… Don’t worry I am not the kind of guy who pulls tricks on people. I just tend to have a mouth.” Kenny rambled.
Chapter 2: The House and the Horse
As we rode in the limo there, I learned a lot about Kenny. I learned he really liked sports especially baseball. He knew a lot about computers and was a straight B student. Well those history classes are kind of hard.
After an hour and a half of driving we rolled up to my grandfather’s place. I gasped in awe at its vast size and great beauty. It was four stories and it was made of a red brick. The door was an ivory color that matched the trim. Vines started to creep up with front of the mansion making it look rustic.
“Beautiful isn’t it?” Robert said as he caught me almost drooling. I just… I thought I had been to his house! Was it his summer house that I went to? It didn’t matter, this was my new home.
I stepped out of the limo with Kenny and I started to fall down. Luckily, Kenny caught me.
“Are you O.K., Alicia?” He asked me. I stood up as fast as I could and I blushed.
“I am sorry. I almost fainted. I have never ever seen this house before!”
I smiled and walked up to the door and reached out to open it. The knob was even amazing. It looked like it was solid gold engraved with vines. I slowly opened the door to see a waiter, or a butler, I don’t know, standing right there in front of me.
“Miss Monroe, Pleasure to meet you. Your things will have been brought up to your room and you are free to explore. In case you can’t find your way back just start shouting.” He said it in such a way it was hard to understand. I pick it up and went to explore. I went into the sitting room where my grandfather was.
“Grandfather, hey I am here.”
“Well I can very well see that Karen.” He said. “I don’t know why you are here though.”
“No, Grandfather, I am Alicia. Kenny and I are living with you as of today.”
“No, No. That is next month. Isn’t it? I thought just Kenny was coming. Oh well anyway, come give your Grandpa a hug.” He opened his arms wide.
I went up to him and hugged him with a giant bear hug, well one that wouldn’t break his back. I smiled, “Nice to see you Grandfather. You never told me you where Rich!”
“Those oil rigs I was able to buy with my lottery money paid of nicely.” My grandfather stood up.
“Alicia, I have a surprise for you. Follow me.” He started walk away toward the backyard.
How does he remember my surprise if he didn’t remember I was coming? I decided to disregard it. He lead me back to the stables he said where freshly built, and he showed me an American Quarter Horse. Chestnut color, he seemed very, very strong, and about thirteen hands.
“Alicia, this is your new horse, Maraschino. He rides both English and Western so I hope you enjoy. You have saddles and helmets, blankets and boots. Reigns and bits, bridles a stirrups. Anything else you might need?”
I smiled as I petted Maraschino. He was very calm and didn’t frighten easily. “Could I ride him now?” I finally had my own horse. After thirteen years of wanting, I finally got it.
“Of course you may. For the time being, please stay on the property. That shouldn’t be hard. We have a mile of trail riding trails, a coral with barrels, jumps and poles, and we finally have an open field so that you can run.”
I nodded and I started to saddle up Maraschino. He let me put on the saddle blanket, the reigns, and everything without a problem. The hard part was getting him to do what I wanted him to do. I was riding western and I nudged him to go forward. “Oh come on… Please Maraschino?” He still wouldn’t move.
Finally I jabbed him sharply as I shook the reigns. He took of like a lightening bolt. I didn’t even try stopping him. I stood up and we went through the riding trails. We saw squirrels and chipmunks, birds and foxes. It was so much fun. We kept riding deeper and deeper.
That day, I actually fell off of Maraschino. We where jumping over a long and I was standing up. I hit my head against a thin branch, though it was enough to knock me off. I was fine but it was very, very painful.
We continued riding until we came up to a stream. Maraschino knew we weren’t supposed the leave the property. I turned him around but he wouldn’t go. “Come on, Mara… You know you can do it…” Well finally he went but he wasn’t too happy about it.
Chapter 3: Destroy and Conquer (Guitar Battle One)
The night, Maraschino and I finally returned. It wasn’t like nine-ish. More like six-ish. I took everything off of him and put him in the stable. I walked back to the house and I saw Kenny there.
“Where have you been? I haven’t seen you all day! None of us have!” Kenny scolded me.
“Sorry,” I said, “I was just out riding Maraschino. I didn’t think you guys would worry too much.”
“It’s out first day here, Alicia. We barely know our way around the place. And you’re already getting lost? Please tell me, what’s coming up in my future?” He said with sort of a moan.
“O.k. This is too weird. You should like hate me or something. That what most guys would do.”
“I am not most guys, Alicia. I actually like girls when I meet them.” Kenny said with a half blush.
I simply turned around and started walking away from him. “What’s wrong with him? Is he just expecting me to fall into his arms and we live happily ever after? He should know, life isn’t a fairytale.”
I opened my door to my room. Inside was the most beautiful room I had ever seen. It was huge. It had a queen size bed with lilac walls. They where decorated with deep purple butterflies. There was a purple veil surrounding the bed and it was so teched out. I saw a computer, a plasma T.V, a work desk, and my fender. My precious child.
“Well maybe my life is a fairytale…” The only thing is, it was a joint room. Through the door was Kenny’s room. He also had a guitar, but it was a Les Paul.
“Oh No… No, No, No, No, No!” I shouted once I saw it. I thought in my mind that I would beat him in a competition no matter how good he was. For all I knew, he could have been a Jimi Hendrix. Heh, right like I could even believe that.
“You play too huh?” Kenny asked walking in. “Only a Fender. I have a Les Paul.”
“Yeah, I saw it dumb crap. How’d you get it?”
“My father got it for me; he makes a hefty wage off of your Grandpa.” He looked around. “Not much of a room.”
“You know I can play better then you. There is no way you could ever pick up that thing.” I said mocking his skills. I felt good and bad about it but I did anyway.
“You’re on… Tomorrow at three o’ clock. Play your best song and see if it can out match my awesome skills.” Kenny said so close to my face he could have kissed me.
That night, I practiced so hard my fingers bled. I couldn’t think of a better song to play then Ac/Dc’s song “It’s a long way to the top”. I heard what song he picked. Ozzy Osborne’s “Bark at the moon”. He played it horribly. I laughed at his missed notes. I couldn’t help myself. It was hilarious.
In the morning, my stomach grumbled because the day before I hadn’t had lunch or dinner. I went down stairs and I was treated to pancakes and bacon. Oh boy was it good. I couldn’t remember having pancakes and bacon at all. I saw Kenny coming down the stairs in his Pjs.
“Bark at the moon? Are you serious?” I asked him with a smile on my face.
“Who said that was my song? I could have been doing that just to throw you off.” He said also smiling.
Oh Crap. What if it is just to throw me off? I know he wouldn’t have accepted my challenge if he couldn’t play. What is he trying to pull here?
I sat up straight and took a bite of bacon. “Well, I know one thing; I know I am going to kick your butt.”
I went up stairs and practiced until two fifty five. Then I knocked on Kenny’s door. “Hey loser? You ready yet?”
He opened the door. “How about we make a little wager? Loser has to do whatever the winner wants. And I mean whatever.”
I thought for a moment. “O.k. You’re on.”
I went first. I played my song perfectly. Not a single missed note. Unfortunately, he played his song three thousand percent better.
“But… How did you? Yesterday you where… and know you are…” I stuttered.
“Know what, I threw you off. Oh well. You have to do whatever I want. Know what I want.”
I closed my eyes and expected for the worst. “I want you to let me take you to dinner and a movie.”
My eye lids flew open. “Wait what? You aren’t going to make me do your chores or anything?”
“I told you, I am not a bad guy… I want to take a pretty girl out to dinner and a movie. This is a free country still. Right?”
Chapter 4: Dress and Dine
“Be at my room at seven.” I said blushing. I felt so flustered I couldn’t think right. I finally sat down on my bed. “So tonight I have a date with, Kenny. I would have never guessed.”
I kept thinking until it was six thirty. I went through my new clothes trying to figure out what to wear. I finally decided on a really dressy tee shirt and a pair of clean jeans. “Well for dinner and a movie…” I said.
Make-up was the hard part. I never really wore any except for big occasions. I figured this was one.
At exactly seven o clock, I heard a knock on my door. “Hold on a minute.” I said putting the finishing touches on my hair. I opened the door and there he was. Kenny’s hair was perfectly done, again, and he reminded me of an angel. Exaggerating much? I felt actually happy that I had lost. Sure he seemed like a complete jerk. (Or maybe he didn’t…) but he was really a nice guy.
“My, don’t you look pretty. Big date tonight?” Kenny asked me jokingly.
I blushed and said “Ha, ha… Very funny. So what are we going to see tonight?”
“I was thinking Pirates of the Caribbean?”
“Well, isn’t exactly what I had in mind, but I have wanted to see the one for like, ever…”
I smiled and he took my hand and we walked down stairs. I couldn’t help but turn ten shades or red. Grandfather saw us on the way down.
“Well, you two look awfully nice. Where are you headed?” He asked with a chuckle.
“We are going to see a movie and go to dinner, sir.” Kenny said very, very politely.
“Well, just make sure your back by twelve.” He said turning around with a smile on his face. I knew what he was thinking. And he was right. We where on a date.
Kenny led me to the limo and I quietly stepped in. I grabbed a small glass and got some Pepsi out of the Mini Fridge. I filled the glass and then sat next to Kenny sipping it.
I finished the soda pop quickly and threw it away. Soon, closed my eyes and smiled.
“Alicia, are you really that tired?” Kenny asked me seeing my face.
“Yeah, I stayed up practically all night last night so I could practice. I got only one or two hours of sleep.” I said with a yawn.
“I could let you sleep and wake up once we got to the diner. It’s going to be about a half hour. We are going to one on the outskirts of town…”
“No, that would be rude…” I said my voice trailing off.
“Alicia, just lie down and fall asleep. You really need it.” He said.
“Well… maybe for a little while…” I said practically falling over on this seat. I guess I curled up into a ball and was quickly out. I did have the weirdest dream though. And it was in third person… It was like, I was watching a movie…
“Morning, Honey!” Alicia said to Kenny as she grabbed some toast.
“Why are you so happy? Oh right! You got that promotion down at the center! Heh, I really hope you have a good day being the scientist in charge of the Volcano section. You didn’t go to collage for eight year to become some minor Volcanologist!” He said to her kissing her on the cheek. Alicia blushed and turned around and grabbed her briefcase. This morning, she wore jeans and a tee shirt with a jacket. Even though she didn’t have too, she loved doing field work because one, she could dress casually, and two, it was just fun, being out there in the face of danger. Today, she and her crew where going to Mount Saint Helens because some activity had stirred up recently. “Well, have a good day. And, please, stay out of the lava dome. We don’t need to treat you again for second degree burns.” Kenny said to her as she walked out the door.
“Alicia… wake up… we are here…” Kenny said softly shaking me. I promptly sat up and checked my mascara and stood up.
“Um, reservation for Kenneth Jacobs?“ He said to the server.
“Aah, right his way. We have a nice spot for you in the corner.” The server said leading us to a nice table.
“Thanks…” I said scooting in.
Kenny passed me a menu and I looked at it deciding what I wanted. I finally decided on Prime Rib and I set the menu down.
“Well, Alicia, have you decided?” I nodded and smiled.
“Yes I have… I just kind of surprised you asked me out.”
