Gaia.
Of late, many of us have come to see this place as a world in which to thrive as something we wish we could be in life. Many of us re-evaluate the meaning of Gaia, and it's place in our lives. What it represents, and why it is that we love it so. Is it more than a forum? More than a map? More than the stores and items and homes in the towns we had travelled so complacently? To many of us, yes. And then the Zurg came, bringing unrest and malcontent with them. Our people are divided, split right down the center. Torn. Between a world forever changed by the Zurg, and a world that once was. Time brings change, and change is constant. But when are we justified in fighting that change? When someone is injured? When a home is destroyed? When a life is lost? Or is the Zurg presence alone such an affront that we need declare war? To many, it is.
War.
A war in the digital world that reflects ourselves in life. The Zurg invaded our home, assimilated countless impressionable Gaians with their putrescent energy drink, they defiled our Christmas with their botched adbuction attempt which left the mind of our beloved Santa Claus trapped in the body of a cow. And worse, defeating him at the Christmas event by such a margin as to cause me great sorrow. And now, with the stargate, the infamous stargate as drafted in the notorious schematic intercepted by the Rebellion, installed on our land, the Zurg are ready to initiate their next assault on our way of life. How is it even possible that more people don't realize the horror in this? What if this had occured in the physical world? What if the homes we live in, the family we live with, we put in jeopardy by foreign invaders with no regard for what they've done? Who would fight, and who would submit? I would fight. Yet... there are so many who profess to choose a better way.
Peace.
A peace between the Zurg and Gaia. Through diplomacy and non-violence. I'm sorry, but there has already been violence. More than anyone can imagine, and the differences between the Zurg and Gaians are insurmountable. As two people so despared from each other, there can never be peace. So long as the Zurg taint this beautiful land of Gaia, there will be open and unrelenting opposition to their evil. Yes, I say evil in earnest. As it was revealed by a servant pf the Zurg Mother herself, that her designs for Gaia are for conquest. And now, those of us who choose to fight, do so because we too know that peace is not possible between us. Our mandate is to drive the Zurg from this land, to force them back from wence they came. If through the stargate, or through the cold strike of war and death, the Zurg will be forced away from us.
THEN, there shall be peace.
I saw the world in a Lotus, that floated serenely on Bass'Ken Lake. It was this beauty that moved me to solemnly vow, for its honour, that Gaia shall not fall. War can only destroy for so long. The grass that was burned shall grow again, the waters that fell shall rise again with the healing rain, and the Lotus will return, its colours and spirit more vibrant than was ever seen or felt. If by my life or death I can defend Gaia to this end, I will.
