The steam from the Hogwarts Express covered the platfrom 9 3/4. Students appeared with bags, parents, siblings, and fellow classmates, eager to begin their journey to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger came running onto the platform, pushing their trunks ahead of them. The rest of the Weasleys quickly followed.
"Well, get a move on now, before they leave without you!" Mrs. Weasley said, ushering Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny towards the train.
The gang all piled onto the train and ran to the nearest window to stick their heads out and say their last good-byes.
"See you soon, Mum!" Ron said, waving.
"Take care, Ron, and watch out for Ginny, won't you?" his mother called back.
"I think it should be Ginny watching out for Ron, Mum," Fred said, standing by his brother and straightening his dragon-skin jacket.
The train blew its whistle for the last call.
"Thanks for your help Mrs. Weasley!" Hermione called.
"Write soon!" Harry yelled as the train began to roll forward.
All of a sudden, a 16 year old girl ran onto the platform followed by six other people clearly too old to be going to Hogwarts.
"DAMMIT! WE MISSED THE TRAIN!" the girl yelled. She walked to the tallest boy with her and hit him on the head. "You idiot! Next time make sure the clock is set right!"
"OH MY GOD!"
Another girl had just come throught the barrier. A piece of her dark, shoulder-length hair was covering part of her face. She brushed it out of the way, and stared after the train as it rounded the corner.
"I MISSED THE STUPID TRAIN!" Following this remark was a rather long string of curses as she began digging through her trunk. "Holy crap! Where'd it go?!"
Thinking back to earlier that morning, she had remembered her dad taking her Firebolt, saying she would get it back when she got to school... if she made it on time this year.
There was a loud crash behind her, signalling the arrival of her best friend, Gore. He was lying on the floor of the platform, breathing heavily from running, and buried under his trunk and owl's cage.
"Tepeu," he said, "please, for the love of God, don't tell me we missed the train."
"Fine. I won't tell you," she said, picking up his sunglasses and tossing them to him. "Just get your Nimbus 2001 out..."
A few minutes later, they had their trunks and owls' cages tied onto the broom.
"Look, T, it can't hold this much weight..." Gore said as Tepeu climbed on behind him.
"Just shut up and go, already. Dad'll kill me if we're late again."
Gore kicked off of the ground. They fell over almost immediately, the broom being unable to get more than two feet off the ground.
"DAMMIT!"
