-Inkii’s ear twitched with the annoying beeping noise that seemed to be in rhythm with her heart beat. Slowly she opened her eyes. At first the room was a blur of white, then after a few moments she realized she had been looking at the ceiling. The beeping continued to make her right ear twitch. Slowly she reached up and pinched her ear, ceasing the twitch. A sharp pain ran threw her. “Ouch.” She groaned. Yep, she was awake and this wasn’t a dream.
-With a heavy sigh Inkii sat up and began to look at her surroundings. To her right sat the god awful machine that was making the beeping noise. Inkii cringed recognizing it to be a heart monitor and sighed because she sat in a hospital bed. Looking to her left she saw a small table covered with flowers, get well balloons tied to the legs, and get well cards sat up right on the table with a few small gifts here and there. Behind the table was a window with a view of the harbor.
-‘Why do all, hospitals have windows on the left side of the patients bed?’ Inkii asked herself as she kicked the blanket off and hobbled out of the bed to go look out the window.
-At the window Inkii pressed her hand against the glass to stabilize her self. The glass was colder then ice, she quickly pulled her hand back in surprise. Backing away she watched as the room began to darken around her. The window began to coat itself in a thin layer of ice, except for where she had placed her hand leaving a faint hand print.
-“You where all ways the easy one to surprise, Inkii.” A cold dark voice came from behind her.
-Inkii spun around to see a hooded figure sitting upon the end of the hospital bed she had just gotten out of, only to her shock she was still laying upon the bed. Looking down at her hands she found them to be covered in a white fur. She looked to the dark figure, to her self in the medical bed, and back to her velvet hands. She let out a small chuckle that seemed to echo as the thought ‘Astral Projection,’ ran threw her head.
-“Relieved Inkii, odd you’re the first to be relieved at my presence.” The dark voice said from deep within the hood.
-“And just who are you?” Inkii asked her voice echoing out as if she was standing in a tunnel, as she examined the clothing she wore.
-Inkii’s clothing consisted of a dark blue turtleneck, black bellbottoms, black belt with a silver buckle, and knee high combat boots. She smiled happy she wasn’t wearing a hospital gown.
-“I am saddened that you do not recognize your old friend Wulf.” The dark voice said in a hurt tone as the figure placed a skeletal hand to its chest with a sigh.
-“Sorry I don’t know you.” Inkii replied wide eyed as she starred at the figures hand.
-The dark figure sighed again and turned to look at Inkii, having spent this whole time looking over her body on the medical bed, a pair of bright yellow eyes starred out at her. “I think you do remember me, you just choose not too.” The dark figure said its voice changing for the creepy tone to that of an old friend.
-Inkii’s eyes widened even more as she recognizing his eyes and voice that belonged to a friend she thought to be gone. “Marcus?” she gasped. “Marcus, I thought you where dead.” She uttered in surprise.
-“I knew you’d remember me sooner then later.” Marcus said pulling down his hood to reveal his wolven self.
-Marcus’ fur was solid black as was his unruly hair, and his yellow eyes shinned in the darkness of the room as if it was fully lit. Inkii smiled faintly remembering Marcus as the boy next door and her best friend. At least he had been her best friend until one late November they had an argument causing Inkii to run away from into the street. She would have been died then if it hadn’t been for Marcus running after her and pushing her out of the way of an on coming truck. Marcus didn’t make it, but his death weighed heavy on her guilty concise.
-“Marcus, how can you be here?” Inkii asked stepping back a bit, and knocking over a gift card on the table behind her.
-“I don’t really know,” Marcus shrugged with a smile. “I do know that I am here –and I am to take you back with me.”
-“Take me where?” she asked, picking up the card to see that had been drawn and signed by all her siblings.
-“To the underworld, Inkii, where else would I take you?” Marcus asked standing up. “Its time we joined one another there.”
-Inkii sighed and placed the card back on the table upright. “I can’t go with you Marcus. It’s not my time yet.”
-“Yes it is why else would I have been sent by the Higher Powers to come and collect you?” he asked becoming slightly edgy.
-“Marcus, I’m currently being wanted in the underworld by another not just the Higher Powers.” Inkii explained placing her hands on Marcus’ arms. “Do you understand? I’ve fought them in the material realm all ready. That’s why my body has ended up here.” Marcus pulled away from Inkii and walked to the opposite side of the bed. “Marcus, please understand what I’m trying to tell you.”
-With a frown Marcus pulled up his hood with one hand as a crooked shaped staff appeared in the other. “I understand perfectly my dear.” He said, his voice becoming dark again. “You belong in the underworld.” He lifted the staff a scythe blade appearing at the end, and then he swung at her.
-Before Inkii realized what was going on a crude version of a chef knife appeared with in her hand and she was using it to block the scythe. Grunting Marcus put more of his strength into pushing the blade toward her, but Inkii stood strong no sign of stress as she held his blade away from her. “Go back Marcus, I’m out of your league and they know it. This is why they sent you.” Inkii tried to explain as gently as she could, not wanting to hurt him. “They wanted me to destroy you and follow a darker path.”
-“NO!” He said pulling his scythe away from her. “I need you to come back with me Inkii.”
-“I know Marcus and I’m sorry, but I can’t.”
-“Fine, but I will collect you Inkii and we will be together once more.”
-‘One day Marcus, one day.’ Inkii thought as the door to the room opened and Marcus vanished.
-Inkii sighed and looked over to the door to see two familiar faces entering into the room.
