It has been awhile since I last ranted, I know. I ran out of material to rant about. However, lately, I have had much to rant about. I'll get my others up her as soon as possible, or as soon as I feel like it. Just bear with me.
I have become aware of the disrespect given to this wonderful country by the citizens. I am aware of the corruption of the government and such, but what government does not have some corruption? People, however, seem to be too absorbed in the bad to take a glimpse of the good. I live by the Mexican border and have dealt with this disrespect for a long time. It was just the past few years that I've become aware and upset about it. Hell, I've been ridiculed about my race for all too long. And I'm tired of wearing a Star of David and being asked if the symbol of my heritage is the upside-down star of Satan. That pisses me off to no end. Just the other day, I was given a quick-write (about six sentences) inquiring out idea of whether we shoul or should not salute the flag each morning. My response was if you were to salute and not mean it, it would just be insulting and degrading to all this country stands for. When the teacher asked for our replies to this trivial matter, I raised my hand and voiced my opinion to the class. I even said, "If you do not like it, get out." There was a bit of an uproar in which I was dubbed "racist". How is this racist? If one leaves their home country to come to America, the Land of Opportunities, would it not be common sense to at least respect the other native-born citizens? Or at least not come in here and endeavor to make a mockery of what this country stands for? My ancestors immigrated here from Prussia (which probably does not exist as a country anymore) to start a new life. We have not left here since. This family respects this country that took us in so long ago. Why can't others do the same?
