Two days ago, a fox attacked my dog. It actually chased her to the house, and waited outside after we got the dog inside. It was a red fox, and had unusual hair loss at the base of its tail.
Yesterday, my dog and I had to get rabies vaccines. My dog was up to date on her vaccines, so she only needed a booster shot, but I had to get eight shots. Those rabies vaccines are not pleasant. Also, my dog is now under quarantine.
Today, animal control contacted us, saying that they had found a dead fox matching our description. We saw it, and think that it was the same animal. Because it seemed otherwise healthy, it probably did have rabies. Now the rest of my family need vaccines, too. Oh, and also...

Now I don't have to walk my dog while carrying a baseball bat.
