In the misty summers I lie awake,
dreaming of tomorrow,
forgetting about yesterday.
Letting sleep fall over me,
just as a silken cloud.
The true dreams enter my mind,
slowly snaking into my subconcious,
a pillow for my mind to rest on,
a breeze for my body to breathe in.
A fantasy prairie stretches before me,
a world i have created and cannot control,
i play in the lush grass with the visions of my imagination.
A bright sky and cool sun are beacons of hope,
forever i could stay here,
but my mind has different thoughts.
Soon the night comes,
bringing forth clouds black as death,
and rain as piercing as a sword.
I take cover under the trees of my thoughts,
soon they float away in ash.
I stand in the prairie of my mind,
slowly dying in my mind.
I wake in a cold sweat,
still feeling the shadow of the rain on my arms,
still feeling the shadow of the pain.
