Soo, has anyone here read Full Moon wo Sagashite? If you have you'll understand the meaning of this poem. =] I'm describing Mitsuki Kouyama's feelings toward Eichi mostly.
Anyways..
Locked Inside
The pieces of my heart Lay scattered Lost forever unto the depths The desolation of my weeping soul My masquerade Shields my wounds The wounds which I clutch I clasp I cling to as if for dear life Embracing my anguish Is my remedy Medicine to keep everything: My memories of you My love for you My promises to you Buried deep And locked inside

It's almost Christmas again, for those of us who celebrate it, but there are many who aren't very eager for the arrival of this jolly holiday. For example, people who live alone, or those who are less fortunate and can't afford gifts or even a good meal. That's why my high school runs a charitable organization every year, and it was founded and is run entirely by the school's many students. If you haven’t guessed the organization’s name by the subject yet, we call ourselves Santa’s Anonymous.
My first year participating was last year, as the puny, freshman ninth grader. My friends and I had heard about it through elementary and junior high school, since our school had a tree in the front lobby every December where you could donate gifts. We were all very excited when the first meeting came around in September, so a huge group of us bombarded the lecture theatre, along with a throng of students from every other grade. All of us listened intently as the head leaders introduced themselves, and explained to those that were new how the organization worked. They also informed everybody of how much work and dedication was needed. It took the entire lunch hour to go through all the different teams that existed, announcements for what team leaders they were in desperate need of, and the many different events which would be scheduled until packing day. Before the day we pack all the hampers, we have to collect donations first!
We do three major blitzes before packing day, otherwise known as going door to door asking for donations. It can be extremely frustrating, since some people can be plain rude. I mean, ok, so you hate soliciting with an undying passion. You could at least say, 'I'm sorry but I don't think I'll donate anything at this time,' but I've walked half way up a drive way and had someone yell from the door, "Who the hell are you?!" I responded politely by saying, "I'm from Santa's Anonymo--" and they'd interrupt and yell, "Get lost!" and slam their door.
There are many people that make things so easy though. People who have lived in the city for a long time know that we come around every year, and they have toys and food packed and just hand it out to us to pack into the truck. I love going to these houses, since the people are so cheerful and kind. It's a lot of fun regardless, going around town with your friends, singing Christmas carols and trudging through the piles of fresh snow on the street. This is only one of many events we do.
To collect money donations to purchase what we don't receive in blitzes, we do a Teddy Bear Toss! Does it sound lame? Well, a huge group of us which have signed up for the team, all go to a local hockey game and sell teddy bears which have been donated to Santa's. After the Baron's score their first goal, everybody who bought a teddy bear or brought their own, tosses them onto the ice. Then our huge group of people dashes onto the ice and collects the teddy bears! It's really fun, except one of my friends is a little too pushy and hyper.
So our organization can be noticed more by the community, we also submit a float in the Santa Claus parade. This is another separate event team which requires plenty of work and workers. Everybody submits their ideas to the leader, and then a meeting is held to decide the best theme. The whole team helps build and paint, then ride in the float! It can get a bit chilly, but our float is usually the most appealing besides Santa's Sleigh. Along with everyone on the team, people from other teams can also come out and walk alongside the float, while handing out candy to hyper little kids.
There are many other little events we do too, but those are the most interesting to talk about. You need to do a minimum of three events like the ones mentioned to take part in packing day. This filters out all the people who aren't entirely committed to our cause. If others really do still want to come and have good reasons to not make the required events, the head leaders allow them in.
After the gym set up, which is the most difficult event, packing day comes along a few days after. Simply explained, it's an organized chaos. An enjoyable organized chaos however. Each team is assigned a different area to pack, and empty hampers with family and packing information on the side and spread across the two gymnasiums in neat rows. It's actually a complicated process. All the food and toys are divided into neatly labelled sections, and people are constantly rushing up and down these rows, picking out what they need. One of the most enjoyable parts is wrapping the many gifts throughout the day, although the cheap, tissue paper thin wrapping paper can be very annoying. Christmas music is blaring the entire day, and it just gets you into an excited Christmas mood. This is definitely one of my favourite times of the year, and hopefully we make it the favourite time of year for other people too.
