Empires built on stilts
Fall down
Merry-go-rounds in wind
Spin 'round
I see the waves to quench the flames
coming over the cliffs
I see the air to snuff the embers
coming from the sea
The wood is splintering, jagged peaks
tumbling round the houses
Blackened coals are red hot eyes
stumbling to find a life
Ocean air and water salt mix on the tongue
I taste the sweet remains
of an empire built
so precariously
on stilts
Golden curls and amethyst eyes
Upon a jeweled horse
the gales come from above they say
to make it spin around
the gusts come from below they say
to make it spin so fast
Flashing manes and tails and hooves
never to be trampled
Ride out upon the ocean airs
Away, and to, away
The waves came washing much too late
to save the silver palace
Clouds look down, move on, come back
Much to late
To ride the stilted horses
Fall down
Merry-go-rounds in wind
Spin 'round
I see the waves to quench the flames
coming over the cliffs
I see the air to snuff the embers
coming from the sea
The wood is splintering, jagged peaks
tumbling round the houses
Blackened coals are red hot eyes
stumbling to find a life
