The future is looking grim... |

I was watching this movie called Idiocracy and it got me thinking... In the movie, we all turn out to be mindless idiots in the future and . Honestly, I'm worried that the generations that are in their late teens and younger... may end up being exactly like the people in the movie... Or perhaps their children will be. Everything is being dumbed down for all of them. I rarely ever see an adult telling their child they lost, or they're doing something wrong or anything negative! Maybe it is mean but that's how a child learns how to deal with it!
If my future children lose, then they lose. They're not winners for trying or whatever dumb thing parents come up with today, they lost! Try harder and win next time! Some of the children today are such dramatic little shits. When something goes wrong, Oh My God How horrible it is! Oh My God my life is just falling apart! It's ridiculous!
I'm not pinning all of the children's emotional, mental, and behavioural problems on parents and teachers and doctors... I also blame Television and the Internet. Have you seen some of the ads out there lately? Whether they're trying to make you feel like s**t in one way or another or they're so stupid that it acually pains you to watch them, kids are learning off them. And most of it isn't good! My little brother actually believed Axe would attract the ladies like that... Both girls and boys get self conscious with the imagery they have out there for what the perfect human body is supposed to look like. Which for girls is an anorextic woman and boys some super ripped man. Nothing out there really tells you to be yourself anymore... Even within the clothing! I don't know much about mens clothes because I can't say I wear mens clothes... but with women's wear, they have a set build for girls they base their clothing off. Which is Plus sizes and Slender. Anyone who falls in the middle will not be able to wear them to their full potential. I have this problem as well because I'm not in the plus sizes at all but I'm too voluptuous to be able to wear anything slender without it looking odd. It's annoying to me, I can't imagine what it's making the younger kids think.
Have you seen picture people take of themselves? The ones in the mirror or facing the camera at themselves? The guys with the "I'm-too-cool-for-anything" pose and the girls "I'm-so-sexy" pose? It's stupid. It's a cry for attention which they all seem to need so desperately. Do you know why they need it? Because they're lonely. We live in the most superficial world today. Nothing is really real anymore and coming across real people seems to be near impossible now. Yes, you meet friends in school but how long do they last? You can be popular in school and the ones you call friends aren't. I'd say 1-3 of them actually like you for you. The rest are there because they get some spotlight. And now, you can claim you're popular due to all the friends you have on the computer/phone. The whole, "I have over five hundred friends on __________" bit... We have eliminated the worry for people not being social... But at the same time we haven't. You can have millions of "friends" online. Talk to anyone... But unless you really know them, it's not real. Saying, "Oh I talk to them all the time, I've known them for years!" means nothing. You DON'T know who they are so there is no REAL connection. And I think that in our minds we know that, it's whether we choose to listen to it or not. Either way it leads to people feeling lonely. This goes for online dating. I don't care what the belief is now. If you tell me you're dating someone online and you've met them once or twice in person and continue to "date" them online... I will not agree with you if you say you're boyfriend and girlfriend. It's not real. It isn't real and never will be, simply because you don't know them. If you met them online, met them in person and dated them in person. Yes, I'll agree. I had a friend who "dated" someone online for about 4 years. She kept telling me how he's the nicest boy ever and blah blah blah... In the end, they said they'd meet and he never showed up. It turned out pretty much everything he said was a lie and he lived in his parent's shed in the back yard. Another one gave a man, who sent her millions of fake pictures, over $10,000 because he kept promising things to her and she believed it. So don't be stupid like her and know you do not and will never fully know a person online. I'm not saying people can't be fake in person. I'm just saying it's way easier for someone to play you online than in person. As for the poses... No one appears to know anything about themselves anymore. It's becoming harder and harder to come across one who Truly believes everything they hear or say about themselves.Them posing like that... is a sign of their low self esteem not confidence. They pose hoping people will comment on their looks which will temporarily raises their self esteem. There's a huge difference between those pictures that were taken as a picture and those as a Please Look At Me picture and you can tell. So I say to them... You look stupid, stop it!
Another thing that bugs me and makes me worry for our future generations is the grammar on the young ones these days... I read a review a few days back, written by someone maybe 4 years younger than me, on a game, and they were using words like sumthing, u, cuz, wud, l8r... How the ******** lazy are you that you can't just type out a whole word? Or say it for that matter!! People can't even say full words now! It has nothing to do with speed. You shouldn't be in a hurry in the first place! If you are then don't bother with talking! In the movie, people were talking like that as if it were the proper way to talk! And they made fun of the character in the movie who talked properly... Because he sounded faggy as they said.
Seriously, I encourage every one to watch this movie. Watch how fast it makes you think you need to read about a million books and start taking things seriously.
I've based everything I've said off of my brother and his friends... I watch him and think dear god, I hope it isn't going to get worse.
I do not care what you think while reading this. If you think I'm being too harsh then suck it up or you're not going to make it much anywhere in your adult life.
Children who are little, must be taught that they can't have it all and that it will not always go their way. Teens have to realize no one is perfect and to be yourself! Don't make it a goal to be a popular one because that's all they will have for themselves in the future. I've never met a popular person who went far after school ended. If you really are having trouble handling life, go see a professional psychologist/psychiatrist or even your school counsellor. I don't care if you think it's lame or people will judge. Stop being stupid! It will help you, I swear. You have to be ready and willing to hear their words though. Sometimes it won't be something you want to hear. And stop being so lazy with words! I don't want to be an old woman in the future reading billboards that read "If u no whuts gud 4 u, u wud buy this!"
I will wreak havoc on the world should it ever come to that! Even if I'm an old lady. I'll take you all out with my walker!
