Well, I just thought I'd let my friends that are actually following me here on Gaia know what all happened. On Thursday, around 12:45pm, while I was in the middle of playing Borderlands on the PS3, my grandmother called me out to the dinning room. Hearing much of this, I thought it was nothing, so I paused the game and went out to ask what was wrong. She said there was smoke coming out of the window from downstairs where the dryer was. My grandfather was currently downstairs at the time and doing laundry, so naturally the dryer was running. It smelled very odd, not like the steam pretty fresh clean smell you smell from a dryer. No. It was smoke. So, in a hurry, I ran downstairs and told my grandfather something was wrong. He didn't hear me, and I could see smoke coming out of the dryer while it was still closed and running, so I said: The dryer is on fire. I hoped to god I was wrong, but when he opened the door, a rush of flames burst out. Our dryer caught on fire. I panicked, he panicked, we didn't know what to do, but quickly, I dashed back upstairs and started grabbing whatever could carry water, pitchers, a water pitcher out of the fridge, anything at all that could hold water. My dad was out at his bank, and had come home just in time, smoke was pouring out of the basement, and I was feeling lightheaded, I couldn't breath from all the smoke, let alone see, so I went outside, my dad grabbed a soaking pan for your feet, filled it with water and put out the remaining fire and called 911. The response was fast, a fire rescue man was on the scene fast and soon after that a firetruck was sitting in front of our drive way. Out of the total there, there were 8 firetrucks that showed up, 2 fire rescue cars, 2 squad Washington Township Police cars, and 1 Ambulance parked an a neighbors drive way. We had to clear out of the house, cats and all, while they cleared out the smoke. The Carbon Monoxide was terrible, there was a mass amount on the base level of the house, 200 to be exact, and 350 in the basement. We were lucky we got out when we did. After all the firetrucks and all were gone, it had taken a good two hours before we were allowed back in the house. The damage: I lost all of my work clothes, a brae, two pairs of underwear, and three shirts. Yes three. Lauren, I'm sorry, but that Anime Freak shirt you got me was one of them, there was nothing left. I lost my prized Dir en grey tour shirt as well, I wanted to cry, but at least we were okay. And my second Dir en grey shirt was also in there, gone. Poof. I realized how close we all were to losing everything, and how close I was to losing my family if I had been gone. I'm just glad those things weren't our lives that we lost that day. We were able to live another day, thankfully. I can always replace them, it's not a problem, but everyone was alright, even my two cats. That's all that really matters anyway. <3
