People will use the lamest excuses in an attempt to justify the prohibition of drugs.
A common one is the claim that drugs are harmful. This is a lie, of course, but let's just ignore that. By harmful people usually mean detrimental to one's health. My first thought is: So what? What is it to you? Should we also ban McD? How about we inform people of the potential dangers and let them have some personal responsibility? I.e. let's treat adults like adults.
Another concern is that addiction will harm a person's relations to family, friends and, most importantly, workplace. To which I can only say: And your solution is to lock them up, ruin their lives and render them unemployable? Here, have some more kool-aid, dimwit.
Another moronic excuse is that drugs are usually sold by criminals, who use the money to support their unlawful ways. This is a good point, actually. If only people would stop buying alcohol from the mob, it would effectively undermine the power of said mob. Oh wait, people don't buy alcohol from criminals anymore
because alcohol is legal. Funny how that works, eh?
Anyway, I really shouldn't have to argue for legalization. It should be the idiots who should be forced to justify their "right to oppress", to take away my personal responsibility and to criminalize me for no good reason. They have, so far, utterly failed to do this.
Another random thought: While examining the idea of drugs being harmful I decided to go to the roots of the matter: To make a blanket statement like that you must think that there is something all drugs have in common. So what is that thing? It's not that they are detrimental to your health, because not all drugs are. It's not that they are addictive, because, again, not all drugs are. So what is it? The answer is obvious, of course: The one thing all drugs have in common is that they can be used to enjoy yourself. So if I were to assume that those who are in favour of prohibition have actually made an informed, rational decision on the matter, I can only come to the conclusion that they are puritan tyrans who hate the idea of others having fun.
Personally, I am of the opinion that such people can go ******** themselves (in as unpleasant a manner as possible, of course. Not that they would have it any other way).
Ratreoz: God, why do people not worship Me?
God: People are stupid. You know that.
Ratreoz: Yes. I just don't see it as a valid excuse.
