The truth about white tigers.
love animals a great deal, I want nothing but to work with them when I grow up. So yes, I am a conservationist. I love tigers as well, and I always thoug white tigers were awesome, but today I found some upsetting information on it. white tigers don't exist in nature. there is a reason for that. Tigers are a result of HUMANS. The first case of a white tigers happened as a result of two things: crossbreeding of tigers, and inbreeding. When two tigers were crossbred (I believe one was a bengal, the other a siberian) accidently in a zoo, one or both being a random carrier for the rare occuring mutation, a private collecter bought the normal colored cubs, one male and one female, and bred them. Both of them carrying the gene mutation, they produced a litter that had 1 or two white tigers. That is where white tigers that are in zoos came from. Here is the worst part. In order to continually produce the crowd pleasing "royal white bengal tiger" private breeders inbreed their white colored relatives brother to sister, father to daughter, mother to son, and so forth. 80% of those cubs die, and the survivng percentage usally have defects. In other words, they inbreed two white tigers for the pure purpose of getting pretty white ones, along the way killing many cubs, abandoning the defective ones with zoos (or who knows what else) , and selling the ones they were breeding for. They are harvesting a mutation in an animal that is endangered, and doing the recovery of these beautiful animals, no good, if not harming it. crying
