Yes, even while none of my character profiles are technically finished, I'm still making more... sweatdrop But this was a spontaneous idea that just had to be worked out, and wouldn'tcha know it, it's actually my first fully complete profile! Woohoo! blaugh I've always been more of a support person anyways so I believe, if this works out the way I think it will, I'm really going to enjoy this one.
Characters’ Names: Mia & Maya
Race: Shoulder Angel/Devil
Age: 4
Height: 4 inches
Weight: Fluctuating between 4 and 8 ounces.
Hair: Mia - Lower back-length, slightly curvy, full, and shining a heavenly gold. Maya - Lower back-length, straight, tied in a high pony-tail, and glimmering a strange reddish black.
Eyes: Mia - Bright, deep sapphire/sky blue. Maya - Bright, deep ruby/blood red.
Profile: Both are slim, toned, groomed, and well kempt. They display the standard features of white Europeans/Caucasians and could generally be considered quite beautiful. Mia - Softer, paleish white skin and smooth, rounded features. She adorns flowing white robes that appear to be of roman design, and upon her back are a pair of golden feathered wings that are fully natural and quite functional. A small golden halo also floats above her head. Maya - Dark, tropic-tanned skin and toned, well defined features. She adorns a full-suite black ninja outfit with red trim, and upon her back are a pair of black bat-like wings that are fully natural and quite functional. Two very small, black horns also protrude from her upper forehead at the hairline.
Weapons: None
Equipment: A golden laurels bracelet that adjusts itself to the size of the wrist it is placed upon. This strange device is the key to their power, similar in relation to a lamp and a genie. It binds them to whoever wears it, forcing them to serve the ‘master’ until the bond is broken. The bracelet itself is relatively weak, being made out of pure gold, and can be cracked, shattered, and melted more easily than most combat-hardened equipment; however, as damaged as it can become, there exists only one way to destroy it. Depending upon the damage, the bracelet can easily repair itself in a short amount of time, leaving it ready and waiting to establish a new bond. A catch? The supernatural pair can only manifest when the whole bracelet is fastened around the wrist of a living, humanoid being; therefore, they cannot function or interact with the world on their own.
Abilities: The pair operates off a system of alignment and their powers are activated by a system of ‘shouts’. Alignment points are accumulated during battle, a standard two each turn. At neutral alignment, the wielder gains one point to each side each turn; however, when he/she sways one way or another, both points go to that particular alignment. Each ‘shout’ activates a specific power from one of the two guardians and costs a set number of alignment points, as well as a double loss of points to the opposite alignment.
Mia: The shoulder angel and guardian of peace and goodness. She is sweet and good-natured, and so kind, righteous, and selfless acts will earn alignment with this little angel. Her powers are more defensive and indirect than her evil counterpart, but undoubtedly strong and helpful.
Mia “Not Yet!” - Activating the power of grace, this shout calls Mia forth to create a barrier of holy energy that can block nearly any attack, be it physical, magical, mental, or spiritual. This barrier only lasts for one second, however, and thus it only serves as a VERY short-term solution to an immediate problem. Cost: 2 light alignment points. “Second Chance!” - Activating the power of love, this shout calls Mia forth to heal and soothe the wounds of battle. Minor cuts, bruises, and trauma are healed almost instantly, while more severe wounds such as broken or lost limbs and fatal punctures take between one and four turns to heal. Cost: 4 light alignment points for minor injuries and 6 light alignment points for each major injury. “Shields Up!” - Activating the power of grace, this shout calls Mia forth to boost the stamina and defense of the user. Stamina and fatigue limits are doubled and a protective barrier is formed around the body, cutting the damage taken by half. Cost: 4 light alignment points to start and 1 for each turn maintained. Dark alignment points are only lost for the initial sacrifice; however, no light alignment points can be accumulated during this time. “Think Twice!” - Activating the power of wisdom, this shout calls Mia forth to boost the intelligence of the user. Mental arts, perception, mana, and magic powers are all doubled and holy magic is quadrupled in power and potency. Cost: 4 light alignment points to start and 1 for each turn maintained. Dark alignment points are only lost for the initial sacrifice; however, no light alignment points can be accumulated during this time. “Ray of Judgment!” - Activating the power of righteous fury, this shout calls Mia forth to deliver a powerful attack upon a wicked opponent. A beam of pure holy energy shoots from Mia’s hands and causes severe damage and heavy burns/incineration to anything with evil in it. Cost: 10 light alignment points. “Light, Guide My Soul!” - This shout is the user’s complete dedication to light. Maya is banished back to the bracelet and Mia doubles in size and power. She also becomes a physical entity, able to function on her own without the need for alignment points or shouts; however, this also means she is vulnerable to most forms of attacks. Cost: All light alignment points. Mia gains 50x the points sacrificed as energy and each spell costs 10x energy to points to cast. It also costs 10 energy a turn to maintain this form.
Maya: The shoulder devil and guardian of evil and chaos. She is mischievous and ill-tempered, and so underhanded, evil, and selfish acts will earn alignment with this little devil. Her powers and more offensive and direct than her holy counterpart, and pack quite a punch for the happy no-do-gooder.
Maya “Too Late!” - Activating the power of rage, this shout calls Maya forth to spout a stream of demonic flames at an enemy. This attack causes minor to moderate burns, dealing relatively low/little damage but unblockable by most armor, shields, weapons, and resistances, dealing damage directly to the being beneath the defenses. Cost: 2 dark alignment points. “Give Up!” - Activating the power of malice, this shout calls Maya forth to drain the very life force from an enemy. Fatigue, discomfort, and minor pains are almost instant, while major damage takes between one and four turns to inflict. Cost: 4 dark alignment points for minor injuries and 1 point for each additional turn to inflict greater harm. “Give Me Strength!” - Activating the power of pride, this shout calls Maya forth to increase the strength and power of the user. Strength and attack power are doubled, greatly increasing the damage capabilities. Cost: 4 dark alignment points to start and 1 for each turn maintained. Light alignment points are only lost for the initial sacrifice; however, no dark alignment points can be accumulated during this time. “Too Slow!” - Activating the power of pride, this shout calls Maya forth to greatly increase the speed and agility of the user. Speed and agility are doubled, significantly increasing movement capabilities. Cost: 4 dark alignment points to start and 1 for each turn maintained. Light alignment points are only lost for the initial sacrifice; however, no dark alignment points can be accumulated during this time. “Veil of Thorns!” - Activating the power of malice, this shout calls Maya forth to form a veil of demonic thorns around the user. This veil slightly reduces the power of most magical attacks due to its natural absorption and significantly reduces the effectiveness of physical attacks due to the hampering thorny vines. Each thorn also contains a potent level of neurotoxins that are injected into anything they puncture, scrape, or cut, attacking the victim’s nervous system and causing illness, numbness, convulsions, and eventual paralysis follow quickly by death. Cost: 10 dark alignment points for 3 turns and 2 points for each additional turn. Light alignment points are only lost for the initial sacrifice; however, no dark alignment points can be accumulated during this time. “Darkness, Guide My Spirit!” - This shout is the user’s complete dedication to darkness. Mia is banished back to the bracelet and Maya doubles in size and power. She also becomes a physical entity, able to function on her own without the need for alignment points or shouts; however, this also means she is vulnerable to most forms of attacks. A Brief History: Proprietors of emotion and desire, keepers of conscience and will, these little shoulder guardians are an enigma to even the greatest of minds. As an extremely rare “race”, their existence is very little known and even less studied. They are born when the will and conscience of a tremendously powerful being are so intensely conflicting that they split from the original spirit and become their own separate entities. This process gives the being an enlightenment of neutrality that can be considered the closest thing any living creature has ever come to being the “perfect observer”. In the realm of magic there has always been a race to ascension, and this process has always been divided into two paths: enlightenment by knowledge, and enlightenment by power. Most choose knowledge for, while it is the longer and more tedious path, power more often leads to insanity. However, those that can overcome or control the corruption are truly frightening. Our story begins with one such person: an ancient witch obsessed with the thought of ultimate power. The old hag’s many delvings eventually led her to become interested in rare anomalies such as shoulder guardians, and so the experiments began. Mia and Maya were born from the spirit of a great Sage who had been led into a terrible trap and was ultimately forced to decide whether or not to save her lover at the cost of countless innocent lives. Even with her newfound enlightenment, however, the decision still proved too great for the Sage and in the end she was driven into madness and consumed by her own knowledge and power. Of course, the old witch was there to reap her ‘harvest’, entrapping the newly birthed twins in a golden bracelet. For years they were examined, probed, tested, and experimented upon in hopes of discovering and unlocking their power, but something was missing. Yes, the witch had abandoned her ‘balance’ long ago and therefore could not grasp the true power and purpose of the little guardians. As a last desperate attempt, the witch decided to put the pair out into general circulation and observe how they were used and how they developed while fulfilling their intended purpose. Thus they became “Shoulder Angels for Hire.”
