An Unfortunate Event

The life that I had was blissful
Until that one day that I lost it all.
The weather was beautiful
Bright and sunny, it was wonderful.

I was taking a stroll under the midday sun
Along with my wonderful friends.
Then a knight so fierce challenged me to a duel
That was when my nightmares really began.

All my friends ran away in fright
Fearing that they may die.
I used all my courage to defeat the knight
But in the end the knight had won the fight.

The knight returned to his home with my body
His friends looked at him admiringly.
To them the knight seemed gallant
But to me he was a ruthless fiend.

He set my body down on some wood
Looking at me as if I was no good.
He picked up his noble sword
And held it to my shivering neck.

The blade smiled at me evilly
The knight swung the sword with all his might
And then the darkness started to engulf me.

What happened next I cannot say
As the details are too gruesome to explain.
The destiny of my life had never been veiled
As everyone knows that this was
A Chicken’s Tale.
