Chapter 2: Meet the Characters

"Man, can you believe the government would say they accedently shot down a English satalite with a prototype laser gun?" Questioned Alex to Devin.

"No not really. Hey we should go see what Joe is up to. Ya never know with that kid," responded Devin.

So they left playing Guitar Hero at Devin's house to go down the street a few blocks to Joe's house. They knocked on the door, and Joe's father answered.

"What?" Asked Joe's father Rick.

"Is Joe around?" Replied Alex.

"No, he went to the rec. with Carmen." This statement was quickly followed by a slamming of the door. Rick never really liked any of Joe's friends. He always figured they were druggies. Or that they would lead him down a path away from his god. Deep down in his heart though, he knew Joe didn't believe in religion.

"Well, I think he's in a particularly good mood today." Said Devin to Alex.

"It's cause the Bronco's are winning against the Colts. If your favorite team could do that, you'd be in a good mood," Replied Alex.

"My team did. Remember last year 2 games from the play-offs winning 28 - 14?" Responded Devin being a smart-a**.

Alex didn't answer. Instead he started walking towards the recenter. Devin folowed behind. On the way they passed the generator that was hit by the satalite. Everything had been fixed in one night, and the satalite had been removed. Not only that, they had put up a electric fence, and had guards on duty at all times. Devin's father was one of the guards working today. Devin waved 'hi' to his dad as he walked pass, but his dad never saw the motion.

Eventually the arrive at the rec, pay their way in, and find Carmen and Joe playing Racket Ball. It was obvious Joe was letting Carmen win because he had yet to break a sweat. He also was walking around instead of running. Joe always tried to come off as the sweet passionate person around ladies, but when he was around his friends only, he was just like every other guy, in being the testosterone pumped jerk-off that would do something cause it sounded fun. No matter the consiqences. Carmen was about the opposite. She really didn't have any friends till she met Joe and his friends. She considers them friends, just as they consider her just another guy. Alex was the lazy one. He really never did much, but if he needed he could lay the smack down. Of curse, he's kinda late seeing when needed to lay some smack down. And Devin. Devin is a pretty layed back fellow also. He normally get's outside to excersize once a day. He also loves to lift weights, but is afraid to show his true power, fearing he well hurt someone. All four of them were entitled 'outcast' at there school for not acting like everyone else does. They weren't skaters, jocks, or pot smokers so they really didn't fit in anywhere.
