Ah, creative streaks. To many writers they are a blessing, but myself, as creativity courses through my head it is on EVERY subject besides the story I want to write.
A while ago I made a journal entry labelled Hiatus. I refer to that journal entry now.
When I read that entry, and its comments, it occurred to me that the commenters were all girls... and the characters they played, all connected to mine in a romantic way. It never struck me before in quite that way, how often my characters 'get the girl' so to speak.
Currently, Kestrel Marx has (in private conversation, in PMs, but still officially) convinced Crys to take his last name, which in that setting is the equivalent of getting married on the spot. People might hear him calling her Puma a few times. That's the 'Marx' firstname chosen for her...
In 'Aint Got Spirit', Lewis 'Lucky Lulay' Langly, put a pretty little ring on Valora Crow's fingers after a night with her n his arms.
In the plotless fantasy RP, Benjamin 'Sketch' Lee is leading Tyra Aerde south to both marry her and introduce her to his mother.
In the medieval RP, after a night of VERY close relations, Hebi and Arn are expecting a child.
In a private roleplay, Alonzo Revrienta, my vampire character, is wooing the elf Leira, trying to find in her some hope, where he hasn't had hope before. She is reciprocating his feelings quite beautifully.
Maybe it's because my characters reflect the hopeless romantic in me. It seems that even the characters I didn't at first intend to fall in love with others, end up spending the night cuddled up in a cupboard-sized room on a burnished leather swivel chair. Maybe it's that all the girls I've roleplayed with like the hopeless romantic they see in my characters... maybe I'm just outrageously sexy. Maybe my awesome leaks into my internets. Maybe I'm just very lucky.
...I'm a digital pimp.
Anyway. Finally, after much deliberation, I intend to start up some old, dull fires. I want to rejoin and reengage some of those old roleplays. I don't know if the girls will have me back, but I'll gladly roleplay those characters.
First up is Sketch. He's an idealist on a mission, to use his artifact which brings his drawings into reality, in combination with the fabled lifeblood ink, to give his born-cripple friend a chance at walking. His artifact is the golden quill, and its only limit is the imagination, and that it cannot create living things.
Then Arn Leese, a half-elf traveller, intent on seeing every fabled or gossiped-of landmark. He has a magic born into him, the Cry, which effects the minds of those who hear it. Arn has a chronic fear of water and drowning.
Third is Lulay. He is a troubled young man, a gunner in a western steampunk setting, his dark long coat hides a massive excess of firepower. He is obscenely lucky, thus the nickname Lucky Lulay, and takes every shot blind. He has no skill with guns, if he concentrates on his shot, he misses. He has proven, however, that when he leaves it to luck he is nearly invincible. He had nothing to protect and a whole lot to avenge. His past is one tinted with death, he is perhaps the darkest of my characters... and the one thing he really wants to do in life... is write.
Finally, Kestrel Marx. Born Panther Marx, son of Lemur and Tigress. The Marx family always take feline names, even women who marry in. He was dissatisfied with both options presented to him, he didn't want to live a life someone else set for him, so on completing his own ship, built by hand (the Leige Grande) he set out into the skies on the tiny airship, and took a new name: Kestrel "Like the bird, free." He is the lightest-backgrounded character I've ever had, perhaps a reflection that my recent life is happy. Kestrel has no death, no fear, no trauma, virtually nothing negative in his past. Kestrel is privy to a magic called the Rainden Gaze, which works like Arn's Cry, effecting the mind when eye contact is made, and also granting his eyes the power to change colour like a mood ring. The strangest colour in them yet has been pink.
These are the fruits of my constant imaginings... oh oh, I almost forgot Alonzo...
This 619 year old vampire had a rough start, changed by a girl he was in love with, he killed her straight afterward for what she did, and became little more than an animal for almost three hundred years. He discovered Christianity after he regained some of his humanity, and ever since, he has never killed an innocent, only rapists and murderers, only those who did evil with intent. For a long time, he was even a pastor at a church in his home in Lanzarote, Italy. Father Alonzo Revrienta left Italy in the early 20th century, and moved to America, where there were many more crimes, and so more criminals. Every night, instead of sleeping, a habit he left with humanity, he prays that when death finally finds him, he can be forgiven and pitied for what was done to him, before he reaches the gates of heaven. He has never had a chance to have hope for anything but death until now.
Ehem...
These are the fruits of my constant imaginings. Characters I'm proud to have created and played. Some of them in my own settings, some in others'. All of them interesting people in their own right.
As of this month, I've quit all MMORPGs. I am a full time roleplayer yet again.
