My Family Goes Camping

Have you ever gone somewhere with your family? I have before. It was in a place called Family Camp. It’s the most fun you will ever have at a camp. You can hunt for frogs, fish, and your whole family is there. I’m going to tell you about my time in Family Camp.

I jumped out of bed. “Oh my gosh! Today we go to Family Camp!” I said happily. My Mom had bought new boots for me. I use the boots when I look for frogs. “Today’s the big day!” I shouted. I packed up my boots and clothing. I packed my things into the car. My entire family jumped into the car. We drove for three hours until we finally got there. During the long trip there, I feel asleep in the car. I opened my eyes and asked how long I had been asleep. I looked out the car window to see my cousin, Justin. He ran up to the car door and slammed his face into the window. Justin said hi to me.

I quickly grabbed my things from the car, and brought them into my cabin. I ran outside to get my cousins. I found Caroline, Jagger, Jared, and William, they like hunting frogs too. I put on my new boots as we ran down to the creek. The creek is our special frog catching place. The reason why we catch frogs is because we open a petting zoo every year at Family Camp. We charge people money to see the animals and with the money we buy slushies. While we were looking for frogs, it started to rain. My cousins’ screamed that our day was ruined. William had an idea. He told everyone, “ It is easier to catch frogs in the rain! When the frogs hop away to hide, we can catch them before they get there.” We caught twenty frogs that day. It was so much fun!

On the second day of Family Camp we went fishing. My older sister Colleen, caught a puffer fish. My sister kept the fish as a pet. My oldest sister Kaitlin caught a catfish. She started screaming when the fish flopped around on the ground. She dropped the fishing pole and ran into the cabin. I picked up the catfish and put him back into the water. I didn’t catch anything that day, but it was the funniest day ever. My oldest sister was scared of a fish! Who is afraid of a fish?

My last day at Family Camp was so sad. It was time to pack up and say goodbye to all of my cousins. I asked my Mom if I could bring a frog from Family Camp with me. “Sure, as long as you take care of him.” My mom said as she packed her clothing. It didn’t seem so bad now. I would always have a memory of Family Camp with me, my pet frog.
