Come in, come in, would you care for a sandwich?
I have turkey?
My friend, I tell you, he is strange, he is odd.
Some even say he’s quirky.
We’ll have some biscuits.
We’ll have some tea.
The Dr. should be here around quarter to three.
He’s usually late but don’t be surprised
when he shows up wearing his usual disguise.
Tidy the dishes and sweep the floor.
Surely he should be here, it’s almost four!
Here he comes!
Open the door and give him a hug.
His outside is hard but his inside is soft, just like a little bug.
“Sorry I’m late. Those roads, they are trouble.
The time it took was almost double.
I got turned around so I took a back road.
I picked up a hitch hiker who had a pet toad!”
“Who’s this? A guest? Ahh...the name is Dr. J”
“You’re from where? I see.
I’ll have to come see you when I come up your way.
“Hello my friend! It’s been over three years
and I can’t tell you how many tears.
There are stories to tell and photos to share.
Be my guest and take the big chair.
“I’ve fallen in love with such a sweet dear.
We’ve been together for almost a year.
How do you like your coffee, black?
Let me run to the kitchen, I’ll be right back.
“Here try this, isn’t it good?
I think that fire could use some more wood.”
Don’t drink too fast, my coffee is strong.
It might keep you up all night long.
Oh now you’ve done it! You drank too fast!
I’m sorry I don’t know how long it will last.
I’ve spiked your coffee, you’re going for a ride,
but don’t worry my friend, I’ll be by your side.
