hey guys, as of may 29, im outta skool for the summer!! so as a gift to myself and others, here's the new chapter!
Chapter 32: Assembly of Neravien
The next morning, I rose at about 10:30. It was great to be able to wake on my own for a while. I sat up and I looked around the room that was still dark and flipped on the dim bedside lamp to get some light in my small area.
I did my morning routine as I would continue to do this week. Just as I finished, Ashley woke up. “Morning, Dy,” she yawned wiping the sleep out of her eyes.
“Hey!” I replied sitting on the bed. Star was sleeping peacefully in the other king sized bed. Ashley and I decided to share a bed. These hotel rooms were huge and they had everything you could ever want! There was even a balcony since our rooms were on the fifth floor of the building.
I tip-toed out and found the day to be hot and mildly humid. It was the perfect day for swimming or just chilling out. There was series of sudden knocks on the door and Ashley ran to answer it as quietly as she could. She opened the door and there stood Anthony! She held in her scream and hugged him tight.
“You actually missed me?” he asked with some degree of sarcasm in his voice.
“Of course I did!” Ashley whispered. “And there’s only one other person who missed you more, you know!” she added.
Anthony peeked past into semi-dark room and saw a figure in a bed. “That him?”
“Oh no! That’s Star!” she answered.
“Who?”
“We picked her up in the plains. She’s from Neravien too! And she has a big crush on Dy~!” she sang.
“….I see,” he said with a little nod.
“Is it that easy to tell?” Star whispered. She’d just woken up and overheard the conversation. There was a large blush across her face. You couldn’t see it in the dim light though.
Ashley giggled and said, “Yeah it is! Anyone could tell by the way you look at him and talk to him and stuff! By the way, this is our alternate, Anthony. He’s Dyron’s cousin!”
“Oh. Well, nice to meet you, Anthony,” Star greeted politely. She wasn’t usually this nice in the morning.
He bowed a little and said, “Hello.” He looked past both of them now, seeing no trace of me. “Where is my cousin?” he asked. He entered the room regardless of the answer he’d receive or of the room’s condition. He turned on some more lamps. He now caught sight of the open door that lead to the balcony and he snuck through it. He found me leaning over the railing in the morning sun.
“Yo loser!” he called pointing at me.
“I smiled at the familiar voice and turned slowly turned. “Loser? You ******** blind dude?” I said with tiredness still on my face and in my voice. We bumped fists and locked our hands together. We’d never been so happy to see each other in our lives. We just weren’t the type of guys who hugged each other or touch for prolonged periods of time.
“Nice job, dude! Hit the Lamians right where it hurts!” he congratulated,
“Where, in the jaw?” I cracked and we shared a laugh. We both knew that he meant their pride. Lamis won so much because they always managed to win the head start 2/3 of the time. The spar was new way to determine that. The old way was just random selection.
Ashley and Star walked out onto the balcony with us, squinting from the transition from a dark room to the bright outside. I was silent as I turned again and stared at three of them. “So you’ve met Star?” I asked.
“Yeah, but he doesn’t know everything,” Star explained.
It was Anthony’s turn give us all an inquisitive stare. “Everything? What’s everything?” he finally asked.
Star just didn’t miss a beat! “I am from Vermendis, The Lost Race. I’ve agreed to go back to Neravien with you and prove we are not extinct! We survived-no thrived in the horrible situation we were thrown in. Your people fear us, and therefore shun us. We shall return with pride still in tact!”
It filled me with joy to see her in such high spirits and to see her show her strength. I found that it made my heart yearn for this woman all the more. We took ourselves back inside and watched TV for some hours and then traveled the building later that day in search of food.
We dined in the restaurant on the third floor and Lamis, and then Kratias joined us for lunch. We all treated each other as if there was no rivalry between us because there really was none at the time. They separated us by gender at different tables. There was still tension at the boys’ table. All from Tyler. His face was swollen as if he’d been to the dentist and he tried to give me the evil eye the whole time but it was painful for him to do so. After lunch, we all decided to go to the bath house in the resort this evening.
