TLLF: Chapter 6 Part 3

Passing Time

His blue eyes fluttered open. He found himself in a dim, white room. The ceiling was cracked down the middle and a single light bulb dangled above the center. His skin felt strangely tight, so he tried to move. When he did, the wounds reopened and the blood showed though the bandages. W-what? He thought. Just then a memory flashed in his head. He was in the forest, walking with Tobi on the way back to the hideout when there was an ambush. He saw his body being stabbed and cut up, after that he didn’t remember. Deidara groaned and rubbed his head with his better arm. Then he felt something slightly cold holding his other hand. He looked over and saw Sasori lying in the bed next to him. Sasori’s bandaged fingers held on loosely to his. He had fallen asleep with is head turned in Deidara’s direction and Deidara could see a dried tear stain on his left cheek. His eyes slanted in sadness. He had promised Sasori that he wouldn’t get hurt, but the vision didn’t make any sense. It just came out of no where, totally random but he didn’t think much on it. Deidara tightened his grip slightly on Sasori, gently stroking the top of Sasori’s hand. He sat and watched him for a moment before trying to get up again. He moved his right leg and the pain shot up to his hips. Deidara bit his lip trying to hold back the pain though out the whole process. He managed to sit up, but the blood soaked through the bandages, soaking the sheets.
“ Damn it.” Deidara cursed. Sasori stirred. He looked over at him and watched slightly worried. Sasori’s eyes opened. His gray eyes spotted Deidara’s blood and they widened greatly.
“ Deidara!?” Sasori cried but has silenced by Deidara’s finger on his lips.
“ Shhh… It’s ok Danna, un.” Deidara reassured. Sasori’s eyes were still wide as he looked over Deidara’s bandaged and bleeding body.
“ But…you shouldn’t be up.” Sasori said when Deidara removed his finger from his lips. Deidara waved his hand to the side.
“ Yeah, yeah. I’m not hurt that badly. You don’t have to worry about me Sasori, un.” Deidara said. His words didn’t sink in before Sasori tried to get up as well. Deidara’s eyes widened and he held down Sasori’s shoulder that was next to him. “ Hey! Don’t you try getting up! Your still a lot more injured then I am, un.” Deidara said. Sasori looked away.
“ Fine. I won’t get up, but your not going to either.” Sasori said.
“ Sasori-Danna. I don’t want to sleep in a different bed, un.” Deidara pouted. Sasori looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
“ Just what are you suggesting?” He asked, though he already knew the answer. Deidara smiled and giggled a bit.
“ Well Danna. You haven’t changed a bit. Your still so impatient, un.” Deidara stalled. Sasori rolled his eyes.
“ I already have a pretty good idea, just wanted to know if it was correct.” He sighed. Deidara smiled, grabbed the side of Sasori’s bed and pulled closer till it was edge to edge with his. He removed Sasori’s sheets to revile Sasori wrapped up like a mummy in bandages. Sasori felt so ashamed of it, and he tried to pull the sheets back up, but Deidara tore the sheets right off. Sasori laid there, slightly embarrassed. Deidara undid some f his bandages and tied the beds together, making sure they wouldn’t move. He then crawled over to Sasori, holding his sheets to cover them both. Sasori blushed and smiled softly. He managed to turn on his side facing Deidara. His bandaged fingers found their way to Deidara cheek and he ran them over the cut on the blonde’s cheek tenderly. The white blanket came down like a soft mist on top of them. Deidara stroked Sasori’s chest gently. The pain didn’t hurt so much now.
“ Here… Let me heal you Master Sasori, un.” Deidara suggested. He leaned down and gave Sasori a wet kiss. Sasori laughed a bit and went along. It tasted so sweet to Sasori, kinda like, strawberries. When it ended, they were both gasping for air. Deidara reached for a herbal medicine that was by Sasori’s bed side table, then laid Sasori down on his back.
“ W-what are you doing?” Sasori asked when Deidara started to undo his bandages.
“ I told you Sasori. I’m going to heal you.” Deidara said. He unraveled Sasori’s neck bandages and was working on the chest when Sasori’s hand stopped him.
“ Please, Don’t. It looks horrible.” Sasori said. Deidara looked at Sasori then kissed him again.
“ Danna, un. I won’t think your ugly, I want to see your condition. I want to know if your healing properly, and I want to help.” Deidara said. Sasori looked in Deidara’s blue eyes uncertain. His hand quivered when he let Deidara’s hand go, allowing him to go on. Deidara stroked Sasori cheek, then continued unwrapping. Once he was finished, he saw the burns in the middle of healing. Sasori’s body was pale and had dark, red, rash-like markings all over him. There were purple colored circles all over his chest where the bolts hit him, and patches of skin missing were it had dissolved. Deidara starred for a moment at Sasori’s body.
“ Oh Sasori-Danna. You condition isn’t much better, un.” Deidara said sadly. Sasori’s eyes drooped and he looked to the side. Deidara noticed Sasori’s feelings, and he turned Sasori’s head back and looked in his eyes. “ It’s all going to be ok Sasori. I will heal you.” Deidara whispered. Sasori looked at him and nodded.
“ Ok, Deidara.” Sasori said. Deidara nodded and opened the jar of clear, herbal medicine. It smelled strongly of leaves and plants, obviously. He poured a bit in his hand and gently rubbed it on Sasori’s chest. Sasori shuddered at the chill, but once it settled in and his skin soaked it up, it was refreshing. Deidara kept putting it on. His eyes were sad looking when he looked at the injured body of his lover more and more. How could this happen so fast to Sasori? Deidara had no idea how long Sasori was suffering, and he didn’t want to find out. He began to feel guilty. Maybe, if I had come sooner, Sasori wouldn’t have suffered so much. He thought. He just couldn’t understand why this happened. Everything was going so well until this. Why did it all of a sudden fall apart? Sasori felt Deidara’s mood change and he understood why. He reached up and caressed Deidara’s cheek.
“ Deidara…Please don’t be sad. It wasn’t your fault.” He said soothingly. Deidara let a tear fall from his eyes as he looked at Sasori. Sasori skimmed his hand down Deidara’s cheek, to his neck then to his chest. He fingered Deidara’s bandages and gently pulled them off. Deidara was shocked at first, but Sasori laid a finger on his lips. Sasori gently turned Deidara on his back and took the medicine from him. Deidara’s body still bled a little, but it wasn’t much. He poured some medicine in his hand returned the favor to Deidara. Its clear substance made their skin shine like water. Deidara watched Sasori though out the whole process. He gently smiled at him, letting the clear liquid soak into his fair skin. Sasori didn’t see Deidara smile, he was to busy looking at the damage on the blonde’s body. Deidara’s chest, side and stomach were full of deep stab wounds and clean cuts that made it look like the process was slow and careful. It puzzled him. If Deidara were attacked, the wounds would be slightly jagged and not as deep. Sasori’s eyebrows wrinkled in concentration. When if Deidara wasn’t attacked by an ambush? When if this had something to do with Pein? Sasori thought about it. No, Pein wouldn’t hurt Deidara. Would he? Sasori remembered Pein talking to him about being a father and how he would do things that would be the best for him. Maybe, and this was just a hunch, maybe Pein had hurt Deidara to get him with him during his time of suffering. Maybe he wanted Deidara to suffer with him. Sasori considered it. The intentions were good, but he had to admit it was a bit off. Deidara watched Sasori think, wondering what was going on in his mind.
“ Danna, un?” he asked quietly. Sasori’s mind snapped back.
“ Yes Deidara?” he answered. Deidara eyed him for a moment.
‘ Is something wrong? What are you thinking about, un?” he asked. Sasori didn’t know how to answer.
“ Well…I was thinking about…how you got injured. Do you remember anything?” Sasori counter asked. Deidara thought back.
“ Yeah, un. It’s sketchy though.” He started. “ I was walking back with Tobi and there was an ambush, un. I think I remember being tortured, after that its all black.” He said. Sasori sighed. If that’s what Deidara remembered, it was proudly true. But then he said that’s what he thinks he remembered, doesn’t mean he knew. Deidara was still thinking back. “ That’s what comes to mind, un. But you know Sasori, it doesn’t really makes sense to me, un.” Deidara said, his eyes on Sasori’s. Sasori looked back shocked and he agreed.
“ Your right, these wounds are to deep and clean. As if someone was taking their time.” He said, his eyes in serious thought. Deidara nodded, then his face got concerned.
“ Sasori-Danna, un. Who do you think, did this to me?” He asked, his eyes a bit wide like a small child’s. Sasori looked at him and placed a gentle finger under Deidara’s chin.
“ Don’t worry. I’ll find out.” He assured, kissing Deidara gently on the lips. Deidara closed his eyes into it. When it finally ended, Sasori found fresh bandages and wrapped up Deidara, being careful to not reopen the wounds. When he was done, he slowly got off of Deidara, and gently placed his own injured body down on what was now his and Deidara’s bed. Once down, Deidara took his hand, gently moving his thumb over the edges of the bandages. Sasori looked over at him and smiled. It was nice having this time together, he wished he could be with Deidara like this all the time. Both of them, lying together, with their hands entwined with the others. Deidara smiled to himself and moved his head and laid it gently on Sasori’s shoulder, his lips smiling softly. Sasori smiled tenderly then laid his head on Deidara’s. A few minutes pasted and they had both fallen asleep. The light dimmed and the door opened a crack. On the other side, Pein watched. His eyes wavering between anger and mercy. Anger because he believed love made a person weak and mercy because of his promise to Sasori. He took a breath, and went with mercy. He decided to let them be together, as long as it didn’t interfere with their missions. Just one chance, one mess up and they are though. He would tell Sasori when he was healed, but for now he just decided to watch. The door closed and the lights turned off, allowing the darkness to fill the room and engulf the two bodies left inside. It was quiet.
