The weather was somewhat stormy, rain drizzling down hard on worn down buildings, and the air lifting the foggy, yet salty smell of the sea's harbor into the city. Of course, this part of the city was supposed to be 'San Francisco' but since the city was running low on money and the other half of the city was destroyed in the old San Francisco Earthquake, they decided not to fix this part of town. This didn't stop mythical people from residing in it. Witches, the outcasts of the normal world had started to build in this part of town, they all ran their little businesses where man could not dare enter. To the normal human, this place looked like a ghetto, a place with the homeless, prostitutes and druggies. It was too much to restore this part of town so the humans decided to neglect it...
--
A man, tall, and with a slight build to him walked down the normal side of town into the barren wasteland the humans dare not enter. He was crazy to be wearing slacks, nice pointed dress shoes and a buttoned up long-sleeve half opened showing his somewhat ripped model's chest with a chain beating against it as he walked. He was making his way to his apartment until he decided to go back and buy a pet. Though not just any pet, just one to keep him company and talk back to him. This man seemed lonely as he put on the leather coat he had on and flipped the collar up to hide his face against the unfortunate creatures that dwelled here.
Swaying a little as he stepped, the man made his way into a barren pet shop and dripped the water he got from the outside in as it evaporated off his shoulders. Obviously there was some enchantment to the place as an old hag walked up to him and stroked his handsome young face. Smiling, the man slightly hugged the woman who greeted him looking around at the animals there. An array of guinea pigs who were once human, talking hamsters and some odd looking baby gargoyles. "Welcome dearie..." The old woman cooed tugging at his arm, "I heard that you wanted something to talk to? How about some dolls or some carrier owls I set up with vocal cords? Hmmmm?"
"No thanks..." the man said softly, "And please, call me Diego." He strode along the shop eying two odd wolf-like pups fighting over some meat and gazed around a bit checking his array of creatures to select from.
