Sitting in a hospital chair, the time seemed to tick by ever so slowly. Silence filled the room as Garrett stared at the various tangling tubes running down from the plastic bags hanging by metal hooks. A feeding tube, one that regulated a human's water supply, and a cord that measured pulse, blood pressure and all the body's iron, calcium and supplement balances... The lines seemed endless as the boy stared at the machine that told him the person laying there was in stable condition. Heatbeat even, the beeping made an even pace along with the flashing green line on the making a steep turn up and down evening, and another steep up and down then turning flat again.

A peaceful sleep, he thought as he caressed the other's cheek softly. A sigh erupted from his lips as he looked at the time ticking along the wall with the TV closed. '5:00pm' it said as the second hand kept moving it's way around the clock. How long had it been? Two weeks? No, more than that. The time was stretched longer and it seemed longer than two weeks as Garrett thought. In actuality it was a couple of months. Another soft sigh erupted from his lips as he moved his hand away straightening within his chair. The doctors told him it would be longer or less, even if the person within the bed would awake, there always was the mention of impaired trauma inflicted upon the other's brain. Memory loss, brain damage or the slight case the person within the bed would stay in a come for life.

All his fault. Guilt ran across Garrett's mind as he cupped his face in his hands. He knew if he would be much more responsible this person would be much more healthy and not in the state he was in. A quiver spread throughout his body as if he was terribly upset, completely overtaken by the life he could've taken from this other male. He was drinking and they were at his own birthday party. He took it overboard and brought this person with him in a car and he sped, no, basically hurled both of them to be in death beds but utter luck or a miracle occurred and while he was alive with nothing more than a broken arm which had healed, he brought this person into a coma. The most truama happened on this person's right temple; a sensitive spot in which affects a human's memory. Swelling, brain pressure, this person was a mess. Yet, it was Garrett who did this to him, it was Garrett who possibly stripped this person away from their past life. The most likely thing to happen of him now is to never remember who he was and become utterly lost in this world he lives in now.

Tears now trickled down Garrett's cheeks as his hands captured them. He always felt this regret and shame every time he stopped by to visit, always crying with no one else to comfort him like he used to, and always hoping this person, the love of his life would awake and meet his eyes again. This was only a mere wish, a complex wish too considering it had been long since he heard his lover's voice or felt hands embrace him back. His last deep sigh concluded his weeping as he straightened up again trying to regain his composure. "I'm sorry, it's all my fault... I did this to you..."

-------------

Noises...Where were all these noises coming from? There were quiet beeps, footsteps...and a quiet voice nearby. Who's voice? Why couldn't he open his eyes? The dark oblivion surrounding him seemed endless. Rievun slowly turns in circles. There was no lights... What had happened to the lights? Had they all gone out? And that voice... Where was it coming from? He had listened to it every day for...Well, he didn't know. Time was just as endless as the darkness around him. How he wish he could escape. How he wish he could burst into the light...

What if he followed that voice? Maybe it was his savior. His guiding star. Slowly, he starts taking one step at a time towards the voice. At least, in the direction he thought the voice was coming from. He hoped could find his way. Inside he was beginning to feel cold...empty... Warmth...Rievun needed warmth. He begins moving faster, stumbling slightly as his legs seem to want to stay locked in place. He had to move. Otherwise he would be trapped here forever...

Lying in the hospital bed, his fingers barely twitch. Most wouldn't notice the movement. Not from a patient who has been in a coma for months. After months most would have given up. As his fingers twitch again, a nurse comes in to trade out the IV bag. She glances Garrett's way with a sympathetic smile. "Just keep praying, dear. It won't be too long.."

--------------------

Swallowing down hard, Garrett smiles faintly back at the woman keeping track of the time as he glances again at the clock. Not much time has passed and he almost thought it was the end of visiting hours. A breath of relief comes out from his lips and gives her another smile. "Thanks... You almost scared me there, thought it was the end of visiting hours." Adjusting himself on the seat again Garrett never realized how long he has spent sitting there and waiting. The realization struck when his bottom was completely asleep. "Oof... Parts of me are already sleeping." He chuckled lightly.

Folding his arms into his lap he smiled a bit casually to mask his concern and sadness he really felt. Watching the nurse come to change the IV bag for what seemed to be the millionth time since he has been visiting there, he placed his elbow by the side of the armrest and tilted his head a bit to scratch at the back of his head a bit with his right hand. Nearly forgetting his left was in a splint and almost to be fully recovered in a couple of more weeks.

The male took a deep breath to clear his head a bit looking haggard. Doing these past few months he felt lonely, restless, and basically ate himself up in his sorrow. He often imagined Rieven well already or sometimes dreamt of the event happening. Yawning a little, Garrett took another look at the clock. He skipped lunch waiting, watched various TV shows the hospitals could only allow him to watch and often talked to himself over to Rieven out loud hoping the one in a coma could hear him. He head that somewhere, you can wake a person up from a coma by talking to them atleast a little bit everyday. Not minding the nurse Garrett almost forgot what day it was.

"Hey... Rieven..." Garrett said slowly, "Can you guess what today is?" He asked not minding if the nurse would answer. "Today's our two year anniversary... Heh... Isn't it weird? How time can move by fast?" He wanted to go on but his voice trailed off choking a bit. He wanted to cry but he almost felt too tired to or there wasn't anymore tears to cry out. "I love you babe... I know you might not hear me, but I hope you get better. I hope you could wake up just for me... I really miss you. Heh... Even our dog Ted misses you. He hates me, I mean, I never feed him any scraps like you do and he's always growling at me to get you back. It's just not the same without you..."

----------------------

There was the voice again. Where the hell was it coming from? Determined and scared stiff, Rievun begins running, forcing his lead legs to move. Although it seems like he's going no where, he keeps his legs pumping. There is no sound as his feet hit the ground. It was like this abyss was absorbing every part of him. He didn't want to go. He wanted to escape. Why wasn't the person behind that voice showing themself? He heard a name in the mix...Rievun? Was that the voice's name? Or was that supposed to be his? He didn't know. He could always find out if he managed to get out. Suddenly, tripping over nothing, he falls face first into the ground. All the oxygen wooshes out of his lungs and he lays there trying to breathe again. Slowly, he pushes himself up onto his feet, swaying as he walks again.

The nurse pats Garrett lightly on the shoulder, still giving him a sympathetic look. She knew it was highly unlikely the boy would come out of this state if it had been over two months already, but she wasn't about to dash Garrett's hopes. Not after he had spent so much time in this place. She hated the fact the doctor was planning to come in within the next hour or two to discuss the possibility of pulling the plug. Her gaze trails back to Rievun's emaciated frame laying in the hospital bed. The poor dear... The nurse blinks a couple of times as she watches his fingers. Had they just moved? It was possible, but that didn't necassarily mean anything. She wasn't about to get this boy's hopes up. "Just page me if you need anything, dear.
With that said, she exits the room to leave the couple alone.

Rievun nearly stops walking when he sees a door in front of him. Multiple voices and sounds were behind it. That had to be the exit! If only he could get it open. He places both hands on the bar holding it closed. Inhaling and exhaling a deep breathe he closes his eyes tightly.

Three...Two...One...PULL!!

As he pulls with all the strength he has left, the door bursts open to shine a brilliant white light on him. He shields his eyes with his hands to keep it from hurting his eyes anymore. Back in the hospital room the EKG machine starts beeping as his heart rate and plus climbs, setting off all the warnings that something is wrong.

---------------------------

Swallowing down hard again, Garrett bites down on his lip to stop himself from mourning. Watching the nurse finally change the bag and leave he chokes a little rubbing at his tired and red puffy eyes. He'd have to sit there forever to get Rievun back again. If it meant spending the rest of his life or even ten years like the other cases of comas, he would. He loved Rievun too much to let go, so much had happened in those two years and so much had built up for him just to let go. He coughed a bit and then sighs for what seemed to be the millionth time.

Garrett gets up, slightly weak from sitting far too long. He moves a bit in a stretch to make his back crack a bit and picks up the sling part for his left arm attaching it to rest the recovering appendage. Making his way over to Rievun, he leans in closer to the hospital bed and smiles a bit as if he was looking at a corpse of a newly departed soul. Quivering a little, Garrett touches Rievun's bony arm sliding his fingers up the pale figure. He gulps again feeling his heart break because of how dead he seems, a cadaver of his lover laying before him.

Taking a small glance at the heart beat, he quivers a little more moving his right hand towards Rievun's face again. He strokes it gently with his thumb looking closely at the tubes regulating his system. Suddenly the machines started clicking out of control, Garrett curses under his breath. "Nurse! Nurse!!" Quickly drawing away, he bellows a bit heading to the door, "Nurse! Help! I think there's something wrong!"

Stupidly, he dashes towards the head of Rievun's bed and remembers the 'help' button for the service of hospital nurses. He accidentally crushes his left hand that had fallen out of his sling and presses the button repetitively buzzing it again and again. "Hang in there babe..." Garrett said slightly with panic.

-----------------------

The nurse comes dashing back in with Rievun's doctor in tow. "He's going into V-Tech! Grab the paddles!" She hurriedly grabs the CPR paddles, getting them ready to use. Before she turns around to assist more she gently takes Garrett's arm. "Sir, please step outside. We'll take care of him." As she was going to lead him out of the room when she hears the doctor gasp. Turning to see what else was wrong, her eyes widen and she nearly faints when she sees Rievun's eyes are open. "Oh my God...He's awake!"

Rievun tries moving his arms so he can sit up, but since his body has been withering away without physical excercise he couldn't move. His eyes dart panicedly around to everyone in the room. Where am I?! I can't move! Help!" The doctor tries calming him down the best he can. "Rievun? Can you hear me? I need you to listen if you can. You're in the hospital. You were in a car accident. You're safe. Garrett's been here the whole time." Garrett? Who was Garrett? At least he now knew his name was Rievun.

Speaking in a hoarse whisper he continues to struggle with moving his arms, "I d-don't...know you...I h-have...to escape!" The doctor whispers to the nurse for her to get a relaxant to help calm him down. She fills a syringue and injects it into the IV line. The next thing Rievun knew was he was slipping back towards the oblivion. His terror filled eyes look at Garrett as he tries to stay conscious. He barely mouths, "H-Help...I d-don't...want...to g-go...back..." when his eyes slide closed. The doctor looks at the nurse, still in shock that the guy had pulled out. He then watches the heart monitor as everything returns back to normal.

"Now we'll wait for the relaxant to wear off before we try talking to him. I have no doubt he'll be joining us again soon. Congratulations, Mr. Garrett. Some wishes do come true." The doctor then turns and walks out of the room after telling the nurse to stay with Garrett just in case Rievun woke back up. The nurse looks at Garrett, shock still apparent on her face. "I've never seen anything like it...You must be so happy."

-------------------

Being pushed out of the room, Garrett refuses to leave. "I can't! I don't want to!" Frantic, almost seeing things in a daze, Garrett feels like he should be here to watch this all happen instead of leave his own lover's side. After hearing the Nurse's scream, he scrambles, almost feeling his heart ache from the excitement. "What? Where...?"

Maneuvering himself to a corner he stands to watch carefully. A small twinge of happiness subsides into him once he hears Rievun call out. But... He doesn't remember? Garrett frowns a bit confused. He knew he was supposed to expect this but... Just hearing the boy in the bed cry out in confusion takes him by surprise. After all these two moths of waiting and hearing something about not knowing where he was takes Garrett aside almost feeling his heart sink. "Babe.." He laughs a little to himself seeing his waiting has paid off, "Babe!"

Escape? "I-I'm right here, babe!" Garrett cries a little shaken. He moves close near the bed but tries not to get in the way of the doctor. "Babe, just listen to me, things are going to be alright, I promise." Feeling the tears well up in Garrett's eyes he watches as his lover is sedated and the slowly put back to rest so his condition would stabilize. Small tears tickle down his cheek as he's stuck with a bit of a sad smile. Back to sleep again, Garrett just stands by watching as things go back to what they were.

Shaken, Garrett takes a seat and frowns a bit. He feels a little disheartened and split between happiness and sorrow. Should he be happy the person he loves is awake again, or should he be depressed that his lover is awake but he might not remember everything and has to take maybe his whole life to gain his old life back? Sighing Garrett cups his face into his hands and crumbles up a bit in his seat. "I really don't know... I really don't know how to answer that." It was like Rievun was reborn but wasn't the person he used to be, Should Garrett accept that?

------------------------

"Give him time. It could be from just waking up." The nurse gently pats his shoulder then departs. As time crawls by, Rievun slowly opens his eyes a few hours later. It was dark, but it wasn't the oblivion he had been in. Had he escaped? Was he safe now? He remembered people had been here. Were they here because of him? He raises his hand slowly to look at it. His eyes follow the IV line in it all the way up to the heart monitor. What was this place? Had he just been sleeping? Was that dismal abyss just a nightmare? He allows his hand to drop and turns his head slightly, groaning softly at the stiffness in his.

His eyes land on Garrett sitting off to the side. Who was this person? Was he one of the people who had been here earlier? He had no way of telling. He had barely broken through the door before he had gone under again. He does his best to sit up in the bed, and when finally achieving it he starts breathing heavily. After no movement for over two months his muscles had lost their strength and no longer wanted to contract as needed. His voice is a barely audible whisper as he speaks to the room, "Where am I...? Who am I...?"

Hadn't someone early called him Rievun? Not once, but twice? He would have to trust that. For all he knew they could have been talking to the male dozing in the chair, but he would borrow the name. Just for now. Just until he could find his true identity. After his breathing returns to normal he slowly untangles himself from the bed sheets. He turns so his legs are over the edge of the bed, but has to stop once more because it takes almost all of his energy.

--------------------------------

"Thanks.." Garrett says softly and watches the nurse leave again. A small yawn comes out from his lips as looks back at his sleeping Rievun. Stretching out his invalid arm along with the one that still worked he folds them into his lap too tired to watch any television. Slowly, sleep takes him within thirty minutes and then he breathes evenly tilting his head to the side. Being a heavy sleeper, Garrett doesn't notice the groan or the bed next to him moving in the slightest.

Moving a little in his sleep to get comfortable, he smacks his lips a little and talks a bit in his sleep giving off a light laugh. "Rievun... No, don't feed Ted that.. He'll get fat." taking a deep breath in his sleep, he readjusts himself again and slowly begins to wake up hearing Riven's questions. "Rievun, babe, is that you?" He asks in a groggy state. Yawning, Garrett sits up a bit and slowly tries to shake off the exhaustion. He still feels tired considering resting in a chair is the most uncomfortable thing he had to teach himself to do after two months.

Slowly recovering from his cat nap, Garrett gazes over to Rievun's bed. A small smile grows on his lips as he slowly starts grinning and laughing to himself. "Morning, sleeping beauty. You finally awake to say hi to your prince charming?" It was a cheesy joke, but Garrett knew that even though he said it Rievun might not understand considering the condition he was in.

------------------

"Prince...charming...? My name is Rievun then?" Rievun blinks confusedly at Garrett. This man must know him. That meant he would be able to help, right? He slowly slides out of the bed, but immediately collapses as his legs give out beneath him, tearing the IV out of his hand as the stand to it falls over with a loud crash. His eyes widen as he watches blood start running out of the back of his hand. What was this? None of this was back in that place. He raises his gaze to look at Garrett. His hand wasn't hurting the least bit, but instinct told him that the blood coming from it wasn't good.

"If I...am Rievun...Who are you?" He asks quietly. He bows his head, puzzled by everything surrounding him. Confused by this person's presence, and further confused by the red stuff now starting to stain his gown. It was making him dizzy looking at it, and all the smells...What were all these smells? He bows his head with his eyes closed, but instantly opens them when they remind him of the dark oblivion. He needed help. He needed guidance. He needed to find himself in this strange new world.

Sighing softly, he slowly pulls his knees to his just, hugging them as tightly as he can with his arms. It was taking all of his energy just to breathe...It hadn't been like that before, but his body was a lot more emaciated than he remembered. He was weaker than he remembered...or had he been like that and had just managed to lose even more of his strength?

---------------

"You're Rievun." Garrett confirmed watching his feeble attempts at getting up. Once he falls Garrett gets up from his seat giving off a little clicking noise in his mouth as if Rievun really shouldn't have done that. He picks Rievun up off the floor and places him to sit on his hospital bed noting the loss of blood starting to happen. "s**t.." Garrett cursed under his breath as he sees the mess trail on the floor.

"You wait here." Taking out his pager he pages the nurse and stands the metal IV bag holder up again placing the needle away to drip on the floor. He fixes the bag a bit and takes hold of Rievun's hand to place it to bleed on his lap. "You shouldn't try getting up.. You've been sleeping for two months and you really don't have that much strength to do things on your own.."

Standing in front of Rievun he touches the side of Rievun's face and frowns a bit, crouching so he can get in eye level with the other boy. "You really don't remember anything, do you?" Garrett says a little sadly shaking his head. A small smile spreads across his face as if he could just deny it, but the realization struck home. In a shaky voice he continues looking into Rievun's blank eyes, "Look alright... You're right, you're Rievun. I'm Garrett. This is a hospital where people sick or really hurt go to to get better. The reason why you're here is because you were in an accident, alright?" He nods a little to get Rievun to understand, "You hit your head really hard and now you can't remember anything. Though before that you were sleeping a really long time so then your body could recover itself."

------------------------------

"How was I supposed to be recovering in that dark place..?" Rievun watches as the nurse comes in and redoes his IV. He still didn't understand. Garrett seemed sad that he didn't remember anything. Were they close? "Garrett..are we friends?" He raises his gaze to meet Garrett's, seeing a flicker of emotions going through those eyes. He raises his hand to his head, feeling around until he finds the bandage. What type of accident? How did it cause him to lose his memory? He sighs softly again. "Will you help me? I don't want to go back..."

Rievun's pale blue eyes brim with tears. He felt so helpless. What had done this to him? Would he get his memory back? He buries his face against Garrett's chest, sobbing silently until his energy is once more completely drained. What was wrong with him? He lets his eyes slide closed, taking deep breaths so he won't panic at the blackness of it all. This was going to take a while...

------------------------------

"Well..." He sighed a little realizing he'd have to explain a lot of things to Rievun now. "Your body needs to rest so you go to sleep, sometimes it's not dark and you have dreams to occupy your thoughts so you don't see dark. So it should be a bit normal for that to happen..." He pauses a bit, frowning when Rievun called them nothing more than friends. Garrett knew he had no right to object, Rievun of course didn't know who he was and Garrett had to hold back on telling him he was more than that for simplicity. "Er... Yes, we're friends... We're actually really good friends, best friends." he laughed a bit with a note of awkwardness. "And of course I'll help you.

With the sudden cry Rievun exerts against Garrett's chest, he gets drawn back a bit but lets Rievun cry. Holding the other male close, Garrett breathes softly embracing him a bit and comforting him by stroking his back and petting a spot of Rievun's head not affected by the accident. "Shh... shh.." He soothes holding him closer and closes his eyes, "It's going to be alright, okay? I'm always going to be right here next to you, so nothing bad could happen..." Keeping his voice soft but strong, Garrett hoped that Rievun could trust him. Kissing the top of Rievun's head and trying to coax him, Garrett wondered how life would be from now on considering the state Rievun was in.

------------------------------

"Will you hold me while I sleep? I don't want to sleep alone.." Rievun had no clue if he had the right to ask that question, but he went ahead and asked anyway. He didn't want to be alone. It was that simple. Plus, Garrett had said he was his friend, right? That meant he should be able to trust him. Whether they were the talking type or not didn't matter. Slowly, he shifts to try and lay back down, his back protesting violently at the fact he had been sitting up for so long. Maybe if he slept with the other male he would dream, just like Garrett had said. If he did that meant no darkness. That meant he could change things. Right? When he finally manages to lay back down he waits for Garrett's answer.

The other had said this was a hospital for sick people. He knew that he had been in an accident based on what Garrett had told him, but did that make him sick? Besides the fact he felt weak from laying down for so long he couldn't think of what else might be wrong with him. Your memory... A small voice said in his head. Well, his voice. He wasn't quit out of it enough to think phantom's were talking to him. That would just be utterly ridiculous. Those phantoms didn't reside here. They were back in the abyss. A place he never intended on going to again.

------------------------------

Garrett softly stifles a yawn and helps Rievun lay back down again to rest. Pulling up his chair off the side he brings it closer to Rievun's hospital bed and holds the other's hand with a small grip but not too much to hurt him. "Sure... But there's not much room for me on your bed. Mind if I just hold your hand until you fall asleep? I promise I'll be here for you when you wake up and feel uncomfy alright?"

Glancing back at the ticking clock, another yawn comes out of Garrett's mouth. He realizes that visiting hours would be finished in another 40 or so minutes as he slinks down in his chair a bit exhausted. Stroking Rievun's hand as he holds it he hums a bit to himself wondering if he could bring Rievun home or if he'd have to stay within the confounds of the hospital to recooperate. Closing his eyes for a bit he lets his left arm which was housed in the splint rest on his lap a bit.

------------------------------

As the hours pass, the nurse walks in the next morning to find Rievun sleeping in the bed and Garrett sleeping in the chair next to it. She had decided to let him stay instead of kicking him out like she was supposed to. She felt bad for the poor guy. He had been here day in and day out waiting for his love to wake up and now that he had he couldn't remember a thing. It was a painful sight to see and she couldn't imagine going through it herself. She walks over and shakes Garrett's shoulder lightly. "Sir, I've completed the paper work for you. Whenever he wakes up you may leave. I have a sheet that'll tell you all the therapy exercises you need to help him do to gain his strength back."

She gently lays it by his hand, noticing it's holding the other's. If he hadn't heard her then when he woke up he would see the note on the sheet she was talking about. She wasn't going to just shake him awake. Lord knew that he hadn't gotten a lot of sleep in a while. Silently, she makes her way back out of the room as Rievun begins to stir. Rievun slowly opens his eyes, blinking dazedly. Light...Sunlight... It was such a beautiful sight to see after so long. Even if it was blinding him right now. It was a good blindness. He lets his eyes slide closed again, taking in the red tint the light makes when it shines through the eyelids. It reminded him of the blood that had been coming from his hand the night before.

"Silly goose! Time to get uuup!" Rievun says in a sing song voice. "Wakey wakey! Eggs and bacey!"
"What time is it? Eight o'clock?! You are nuts, dear!"
"You love me all the same!" Rievun's laughter rings sweetly like bells.

Rievun opens his eyes once more, trying to mentally grab at the voices he just heard. He recognized his. The other...Was it Garrett's? He wasn't sure. If it wasn't he didn't want to ask the other about it. He just wished he knew what it had been. Maybe a dream like Garrett had told him about.

------------------------------

Feeling the nurse shake his shoulder a bit, Garrett stiffens a bit making a slight groan as if he was too tired to get up. His eyes wouldn't open even if he tried to get up himself. He gives up, letting a few more moments to go by before he decides to wake up or atleast get a bit more rest until he was able to open his eyes.

Drifting in and out of short moments of sleep, Garrett could hear bits of the nurse walking here or there to check on Rievun or sign pieces of paper. He was having one of those lucid dreams where you thought you were awake but was dreaming about everything going on right around you. Footsteps in the hallways, the beeping of the machines, the ticking of the clock and even the droplets of the IV was magnified in Garrett's head. Wincing each time the noises traveled through his ears, he could feel his body sleepily fix itself on the seat almost like he was awake but soon went back to sleep.

Slowly, the traumas of the accident resurfaced in Garrett's mind.
"Don't worry love... I got this."
"Garrett look out...!" a scream and then the screeching of the car was followed by a huge crash.
Waking Garret could feel a cluster of the door caving into his left arm. It broke his arm into five different places. The hot, steaming sensation of a part of his right leg in a almost third degree burn from the engine fluids heating up inside of the car, and when he turned to his right to see if Rievun was alright he could feel himself almost wanting to vomit. Rievun's head was just about completely split open, a portion of his pink brain showing from the fragments of skull trying to conceal it. He was bloodied with parts of his body cut from the glass. Crying, Garrett could hear sirens and the policemen coming by...

"No... No..." He called, finally waking up. Garrett choked and whimpered a bit stirring in his wake. He inhaled deeply closing his eyes tight trying to forget that picture of Rievun he had stuck in his head and wiped a hand to his face. "Ah.." He straightened up his back a little feeling incredibly stiff from sitting and tried to fix his neck from hurting. Swallowing hard, he kept back his tears as he wiped at his eyes to squint at the sunshine outside of the hospital window. Was it morning? Yawning and stretching, he got up and looked around scratching at his head with good arm.

Narrowing his eyes and seeing a piece of paper on Rievun's bed, he reads the note and the looks about it, something about treating a patient who is recovering from a coma and all the physical therapy exercises needed to help them do daily things once more. Looking over at Rievun he smiles a bit seeing he's awake. "Mnn... Good morning, sunshine. Awake I see..." Garrett greets masking the sadness he really felt from his trauma, "It says here that you can get home with me as soon as possible, would you like that?"

------------------------------

Rievun nods slightly. He wasn't sure where home was, but he didn't want to stay in this...hospital? Was that what Garrett called it? Anymore. "Wakey wakey, eggs and bacey." He murmurs quietly, recalling back the auditory hallucination he had just a few moments ago. He sits up with a little bit of help and rubs the sleep out of his eyes like a little kid, him using the side of his hand to rub against his eye instead of using his fingers. His raven black hair is a tangled mess and the hospital gown is twisted around his emaciated frame. His skin nearly as transparent as a ghost so his veins are easily seen.

Emitting a small yawn, he leans his head against Garrett's stomach. His eyes slide closed once more. He wasn't particularly liking how all of his energy was getting spent after small movements. He wondered what home was like... He had no trouble seeing it as being the complete opposite of the dismal place he had escaped from. Even the word "home" seemed to radiate a warm, fuzzy feeling from deep inside. He wished he could have dreams about that feeling. It made him happy. A small smile plays at his lips as he remains leaning against Garrett. This person...His friend, reminded him of that warm feeling too. Maybe they were tied together, but he wouldn't know until later.

------------------------------

Garrett laughs to himself a bit sadly. "Heh... You used to say that to me when I wouldn't wanna wake up." He seemed like it was a distant fond memory, a solemn look on his face as he would remember it. He sighs, helping Rievun up. "When I didn't feel like going to work you'd say that and I'd always call you crazy for waking me up so early." A small chuckle arose from Garrett's mouth as he lets Rievun sit up. Sniffling a bit, Garrett wipes his nose and gets a small bag he brought with him for his visiting hours. There was a water bottle, a small ham sandwich, two cookies and a juicebox in case he got hungry.

Sitting back down, he lets Rievun lay his head on him remembering all the other times he used to do that to him. He swipes at Rievun's hair a little detangling what he can noticing how long it grew from what it was. Combing it softly with his fingers he glances back at the clock noticing it was only about seven or so in the morning. Sighing, he continues petting his hair a bit, brushing at his scalp and letting him be in the comfort of his arms.

For a while he sits there letting Rievun get a slight bit comfy before he looks around to find that hospital wheelchair the doctor told Garrett he was allowed to borrow when Rievun awoke from his coma. So he was allowed to take Rievun home, right? Garrett makes Rievun sit up for a little while and then takes the wheelchair from the corner of the room, dusting it off a bit before taking the other and making him sit in the seat. He realizes the nurse had set up Rievun to be ready to go once he got up, the IV no longer attached, his bandages all clean again, and even though he was still wearing the same hospital gown, he looked a bit cleaner as if the nurse fixed him right up. Placing his little lunch in Rievun's lap he tells him to open it up anytime and eat the food inside. The lunch was originally made for Garrett but then he decided that he wasn't too hungry to eat it.

"Home is just three clicks of the heels, Dorothy." He muttered more to himself than Rievun. He wheeled his lover out into the hallway and tried not to stare at some of the invalids that wheeled by, not minding them any business. Interns passed by as well, taking count of syringes, needles, and other other equipment being in order. The hospital seemed like a busy place and Garrett never liked staying in here. The whole atmosphere seemed stressed and running in locomotion as if it should have no rest, a hive full of doctors, nurses and interns all working together.

"I know you don't know what a home is, but it's a place where a person lives and gets comfortable. Since we're really close friends, you live with me and sometimes we both take care of each other." Garrett said to keep Rievun's mind busy. He took him over to the main office in the front of the hospital, a checkout point where he signed a paper that indicated he was going to take Rievun home and received a small packet which told him how to take care of him to full health. He nodded at the woman as she explained a few more things to him. Garrett then continued with his little explanation as if he was a parent talking to a child. "I know this is all weird for you, I know you don't understand me and my words don't make sense but... You'll understand when we get there, alright?"

Sighing a little, Garrett turned to wheel Rievun out into the parking lot. He could still drive after that accident but there was certain limitations he had set for himself. "I hope my car is still out here..." Garrett said searching around the lot with his eyes a bit. The wind picked up and swept at his golden brown hair as it glinted through the sunlight.

------------------------------

Rievun gazes around observingly as Garrett wheels him out of the hospital. Garrett had assisted him into getting dressed into a pair of skinny jeans and a tight blue t-shirt that still managed to hang loosely around his frame. It made him happy to think he was escaping all of those sick people. The hospital had made him feel like he would end up catching something that would hurt him more rather than make him better. Home... He loved how Garrett had described it. It brought the mental image of cozy rooms with fluffy furniture that just seemed to embrace you when you sat down on it. He adds onto that image, placing Garrett beside him stroking his hair as he had been in the hospital room. Yes... He was quit certain he could trust this man. Who else would stay with him for the whole time he had been sick? Certainly not someone who hated him.

He upturns his blue eyes to smile at Garrett, a boyish grin that made him seem even younger. "What type of stuff do we do? I remember movies..." Not specifically seeing movies with Garrett, but movies in general. The bright colors and all too real characters parading across a big screen or on a small box TV set. He could easily recall how he wished he was in some of those movies. The one he remembered the most right now was The Sound of Music. He sings softly in a surprisingly beautiful soprano voice, "My day in the hills has come to an end, I know. A star has come out to tell me it's time to go.But deep in the dark green shadows, there are voices that urge me to stay.So I pause and I wait and I listen, for one more sound, for one more lovely thing that the hills might say!"

As he hears his own voice he gets caught off guard. Did he always have this lovely instrument with him? If only he had known! Or had he known before he got sick? He still referred to himself as having been sick because he didn't want to use that terrible word the doctor had. Coma. It just made shivers run down his spine. As they approach Garrett's car he fiddles with the lunch bag that had been put on his lap. He wasn't particularly hungry, but it seemed as if his friend needed to eat. He suddenly felt bad for not having been able to help take care of Garrett like the other had done for him these past few months.

"I shall take care of you when we get home." Rievun states, nodding his head decisively. "I owe you my life."

------------------------------

"Movies?" Garrett asks as he opens the door to his new Mustang his brother bought him after a few weeks to the accident. It was one of those new modeled ones, the ones with the somewhat square front and the other half of the body curving like a Porsche. His brother was sure to make this one extra safe with tested air bags within. Garrett's old car was that of a Thunderbird, bought from a used car lot. It was worn, old and the airbags wouldn't deploy as quick thus resulting in Rievun's head injury. Since the front airbag had not deployed in the passenger's seat Rievun collided his head onto the dashboard and cracked it open. "Oh yeah, that movie! That was your favorite, Rievun. The Sound of Music, was it? We can watch it again once we come home if you want, I have the whole thing on DVD since you asked me to buy it for you on your birthday."

He lifts Rievun off the wheelchair noting how light he had gotten and straps him into his seatbelt. Making sure it was safe, Garrett double checks his work of strapping the boy in, getting a sort of new obsessive compulsiveness by making sure the belt was tight and then safely closes the door. Making his way to the driver's end, he gets in, straps himself down and starts the engine trying not to seem panicked. Though he was. Nervously Garrett starts the engine again to be safe and then takes the car out of park to reverse slowly out of the car space slowly making sure in his rear view mirror he wasn't harming anyone if he went out too quickly. After a few moments, Garrett gets himself out of the lot and onto the streets refusing to go on any freeways. After a moment of silences, Garrett decides to answer Rievun's statement. "You don't really... Owe me your life." He said in a tragic daze while staring out at the road. He didn't seem to want to look at Rievun when he drove, seeming as if he was too afraid to look or to turn. "I'm just trying to help."

Garrett's nerves seemed apparent with Rievun in the passenger's seat. He could only use his right hand for steering on the two o clock of the wheel while his injured left hand was at the bottom base of the wheel he also was minding the gas and break pedals each time he made a stop, accelerated, or even turned always taking a moderate speed and wincing each time he made a blind corner hoping not to get hit. "Do you remember Ted?" Garrett asked not looking over but having a smile on his face, "Our dog? He's a lot bigger since the last time you saw him. I'm sure he's going to be really excited to find you coming through the door."

------------------------------

Rievun makes a mental note of how uncomfortable Garrett seemed to be while driving with him in the car. He chooses to ignore the comment about him not saving his life. He was wondering if the other always drove like this or if he was doing it just especially for him Garrett had taken great care to make sure everything was perfect. Rievun wished he could remember what exactly had happened, but he was afraid... Deathly afraid that he would never know who he was. Who this man was that called him his best friend. Then when Garrett mentioned a dog he looks towards the floorboards, his brow furrowed in deep thought as he tries to drag forth any memories.

"He's so cute! Can we get him? Oh please!"
"And who's going to take care of him?"
"I will! We'll name him Ted! He's so adorable!"

Once again the auditory hallucination slips away. A small image had appeared in his mind's eye this time though. A small puppy... He closes his eyes, trying desperately to conjure the picture back up. Brown...and black... G-Germ... German shephard! His eyes fly open as he looks at Garrett. "Is...he a German shephard?" He hoped he was right. He wanted to know he remembered something. It made him feel terrible he was putting so much strain on his new...no...old best friend. He presses his nose against the jacket Garrett had loaned him. It had a nice smell. It wasn't his own scent, so it had to be Garrett's.

------------------------------

"Mnn... Yeah, ba-Rievun." Shaking his head, Garrett had to get rid of calling Rievun 'babe'. He smiles a fond smile. It seemed that Rievun was able to remember most things, movies, his morning greeting, and even Ted. He was sure he could get him to remember a lot more things and he guessed it wasn't as hopeless as the doctors made it seem. "Ted, our little German Shepherd. Well... He's big now."

Parking into the driveway of their home, Garrett gets out taking his keys. He goes to the back trunk of the car and takes out the wheelchair from earlier, unfolds it, and wheels it over to Rievun's side of the car. Opening the door he helps Rievun unbuckle and places him within the wheelchair bringing him onto the front porch steps and onto the front door. The house was quaint, big enough for a couple as big windows looked out with velvet curtains on the other side. It was a white two story, new tiled roof adorning it's top. "Home sweet home." Garrett says gladly opening the door of the house and bringing Rievun in. A big dog, Ted, comes by the door entrance, sniffing and panting frantically a little too excited as if he had missed the two. "Calm down, Ted." Garrett laughs closing the door behind him. Ted makes his way over to Rievun and sniffs him out, sometimes licking him and placing his paws on the weak boy.

Garrett walks over to a plush beige couch stretching out across the living room. on the bottom of it was a square carpet full of intricate designs and a wooden coffee table with magazines, movies, a newspaper and a bouquet of flowers in the middle. They were in a array of sunflowers, daisies, petunias, roses, and basically a rainbow of flowers with an attention grabbing big red bow on it. A card attached saying, "Get well Garrett and Rievun, we love you!" within. Garrett sighs flexing his broken left arm which is sedated from the pain killers he took earlier, slowly stting up again and folding his hands down to his lap. "Anything I could get for you, Rievun?" He asks, watching Ted goof around.

There was an upstairs to the living room, which lead to a big TV and a hallway making it over to their bedroom along with a bathroom right beside it. Attached to the living room was a kitchen nearby and a door leading out to the backyard. The house really wasn't that big but it was really just big enough for a couple.

------------------------------

Rievun strokes Ted's head, smiling lovingly at the big dog. He was absolute gorgeous. Even better than what he had seen in the flashback. He hugs the dog weakly around his neck, closing his eyes at the softness. This place smelt wonderful and the flowers he had seen on the table were beautiful. The whole place was gorgeous... He just wished he could remember moving in here. The memories that seemed to seep out of the walls. He wanted it all back, but he had a terrible feeling it would be a long time, if ever, that he should get even the slightest bit back.

"Yeah, you can treat me like you always did before I got sick."

Rievun had a feeling that would help. At least a little bit. Getting into a normal routine of what they had always done might help. What did he know though? He was just a sick guy stuck in a wheelchair because he couldn't make his own way around.

------------------------------

"I dunno if you'd feel the same way if I treat you just the same..." Garrett muttered a bit cupping his face in his hands. He started getting a headache from the lack of comfortable sleep and yawned a bit getting slightly hungry. "Let's have some breakfast..." He says softly as he wheels Rievun into the kitchen.

Garrett places the other male on a table and starts the stove getting it hot. Ted runs around frantically and barks a little jumping up on Rievun telling him he's hungry. The dog treats were on the table along with a fruit basket full of fresh fruits to choose from. The cabinets along the walls were a dark brown and the counters right below. Garrett starts cooking eggs, bacon, and some ham with sausages. He also makes crepes on a separate pan getting the table set for the both of them, yawning again and bringing a hand to cover his mouth as he waits for the food to cook a bit.

Once the food was cooked perfectly, he grabs their plates and places food on them, putting some extra breakfast in the middle of them in case anyone wanted seconds. He looks over at the weak boy and remembers how his body wouldn't maneuver like it used to. "If you need me to help you eat, don't hesitate to ask, alright?" He states, taking in bits of bacon in his mouth and chewing on the bits slowly.

------------------------------

Rievun pets Ted gently, watching Garrett move around the kitchen and yawn multiple times. He gives Ted a couple of the dog treats from the table before the food is placed in front of him. It smelt absolutely marvelous. "I would prefer if you treated me like you did before. I think it might help me remember things better. And I would like you to get some sleep. I'll manage." He lifts the fork to his lips with a tiny bit of eggs and pops it in his mouth, chewing it slowly to make sure he'll be able to swallow it. He was determined to do this on his own. He didn't want his friend to feel the need to do everything for him. He didn't want to feel weak and helpless anymore. He wanted to be like he was before...however that might have been.

Slowly, but surely, he manages to eat at least half of what's on his plate before his stomach starts protesting to having to digest anymore. He sets the plate on his lap, knowing he wouldn't be able to stand, and wheels himself over to Ted's dog bowl. He scoops what little is left into the bowl then migrates to the dishwasher, opening it and putting his plate in. He remains sitting by the dishwasher after he closes it in order to catch his breath. His arms were already tired and starting to get sore. He was definitely going to have to work out. Do whatever physical therapy needed to get his strength back. This simply was not acceptable.

He opens his eyes a few moments later, not completely sure if he had dozed off or not until he sees Garrett putting things away. As he watches him Rievun feels an unfamiliar emotion rise into his chest. At least, it was unfamiliar now. He probably knew what it had been before. Before he had gotten sick. Before he had forgotten everything. Before he had become a burdern. He turns the wheelchair slowly so he's facing Garrett then wheels over beside him. He wraps his around Garrett's legs weakly. He would have wrapped them around his waist, but being in the wheelchair made him slightly too short. He lets his eyes slide closed and murmurs quietly, "Thank you..."
