Yumi had been sitting in her office for quite some time. No one was injured at the moment. She had healed everyone as quickly as her master had told her to. It made the Akatsuki threat not as horrifying. She scanned through the pile of papers on her desk. The Kazekage was trying to get her to leave the Village again. He was going to try and put her on a team, but she never really liked fieldwork. Just as she was jogging the papers back into a perfect little pile, one of her medical team walked through the door, saying, "Lady Yumi. lord Kankuro claims that he is in an overwhelming amount of pain, but refuses medical help from anyone other than you." She rolled her eyes. That was the eighth time this week. She placed the stack of papers on her desk and sighed, "When did that make it to newsflash? He's always in some sort of pain." "Are you refusing to see him?" "No! Not at all! I'll be there in a second..." She picked up a file, a pen, and a clipboard before leaving the small room and walking into the examination room. Kankuro sat on the table, looking rather uncomfortable. The others had put him through a checkup, and he hadn't had time to put his shirt back on. That made it that much worse for the both of them. Yumi's silver eyes scanned him for a quick moment before she spoke. "You don't look like you're in to much pain... What seems to be the problem?" "My shoulder and my wrist are in a lot of pain, and my head and heart feel funny." "That's all?" "Yeah..." No... But I'm going to use them as excuses to come back to see you... "It could be a headache... By the way... Happy Valentine's Day!" She put what she was holding down and smiled. "Alright... So it's just your arm and head..." She charged up the chakra in her hands until you could see the bright blue energy on her hands. She place one hand on his shoulder and the other on his wrist. He paused for a long while. I forgot! I can't believe that I forgot! At least I haven't forgotten White Day... Yet. "Yeah... So how are you?" "Eh... The usual... Helping the sick and the people in pain... Just like my teacher taught me to." "Chiyo would be proud of you... You're the best medical ninja in our village, and you're humble about it." "Yes, but she's dead, and can't tell me herself... Anyways... Tell me about the funny feeling in your heart. It could be really serious." "It's nothing... Just a skip in the beat when I see someone..." "Really? Sounds like you're in love! Why are you telling me that, anyways?" Because the one that makes my heart skip a beat... It's you, Yumi... "No reason!" he lied. "So... Who's the lucky person?" "You know her." he replied, dodging the question as calmly and kindly as he could. A faint blush had crawled across both of their faces. Why is he playing games with me? "Fine! Be that way!" "I'm sorry! You wouldn't understand... This girl is amazing and beautiful and perfect. Not to mention she's graceful." Yumi looked confused and snorted a laugh. "How is this girl even real!? You just managed to disqualify everyone I know! I mean... You disqualified me all four times!" "How do you know that it's not you!?" "I'm not amazing or perfect... My birth parents might have kept me if I were... Beautiful is so far from what I am, it's not even funny... And you know that if I could retain one ounce of grace, the world as we know it would cease to exist." she replied, moving her the hand that she had placed on his shoulder to his head. His soft hair brushed against her fingers. Kankuro looked up and smiled weakly. It's funny to me how you don't see how perfect you really are... The soft, milk-white skin that never seems to have any blemishes on the worst of days. And that's not including the scar down your left cheek. The jet-black hair that's always perfectly smooth. And the eyes... Your liquid silver eyes... Gah! Stop thinking about it! Yumi stepped away slowly, a silent hope running through her mind. She wanted for him to grab her hand and keep her there, but no such luck. Okay... You should be feeling much better now... she sighed, turning away and walking off. "Wait... Yumi... I... I..." I can do this... I can tell her how I feel. "I... I... I..." Damn it! Spit it out! Yumi had only made it a few steps before he had told her to stay. She smiled weakly, but was only going to stay in the room for a little while longer. Please say something I've been waiting for... "I love you, Yumi!" Kankuro finally said. Yumi's jaw dropped. She had expected everything except that, and she wasn't exactly ready for it, either. "Please... Say something" "What is there for me to say?" "Something... Anything... I mean... I just told you who I'm in love with... Tell me who you love." "Some other time... I have other patients." "Yeah... The invisible kind, right? You know that I'm not leaving... And if you throw me out of here, I'll just come right back..." "You're just as stubborn as ever... It's my favorite quality of yours... You never give up..." She took a deep breath and sighed. "I guess that's why I fell for you..."
