Today - a flower told me she loves me not
and hung her wilted head
It's not that I won't - It's that I can't
thats what the flower said

I dropped my gaze - her eyes filled with pain
pain only I could see
The the tears fell from my flowers face -
she cried rain drops just for me

Today - someone else picked that pretty flower
my flower I knelt beside
I silently watched as she was carried away
while a piece of my soul died

She didn't kick like I thought she would
didn't even scream
My flower's finally happy like I wanted -
even though it's not with me

Today - I tried to let her go
'cause shes just a little too free
It didn't hurt to touch - to get close
the torns caught - but I didn't see

Now I have to realease the flower
and the thorns - they tear my skin
They rip and pull - and leave a hole
where my heart has alwas been
