Ed has been quoted in telling his story. He told it as such:

"Let me spin you a tale... A young medicinal personnel, working in a run down hospital, takes in patients. The problem is no one knows what happens to those patients. Someone becomes suspicious of the aspiring young lad. 'But he is too nice!' the other employees thought. This one person was too smart though. The young one had to destroy the evidence. He had to destroy the facility." The jaws continue on. "He planted bombs in the foundation, and planted evidence to ensure the one attempting to find him guilty was taken instead. The time came to detonate the bombs, but the explosion came too soon. This child was caught in the explosion, but fear not listener, our anti-protagonist couldn't die here. It would make a horrible story, I think you could agree. This young medical man may have been crashed under tons and tons of rubble just like everyone else, but something was wrong. Were was everybody? He woke up under significantly less rubble than had tumbled onto him. There were bodies strewn about. Signs showed that some people had lived and had been taken to another medical facility. The ones that remained were dead. Why was our anti-hero here? He checked his pulse but nothing was there. A few curious by-standards saw him standing in the rubble amazed. He was pale as a ghost, and covered in blood, but stood as though perfectly healthy. The Grim Reaper had not come for him! Were was he to go now? He ran. He ran in search of knowledge. He began discovering the world's secrets and beyond. He never did discover why the Grim Reaper never lifted his spirit, though he did meet a Grim Reaper. That Grim said he knew nothing of the event, but was not the Grim reaper at that time. The child thought nothing more of it from then on. He only continued his quest for knowledge. As his knowledge grew, so did his understanding of how reality and beyond worked, functioned, and existed. It became his clay. He became the feared, Twist-Ed, Dr. Ed Twist. But that is not the end my dear listener, not by a long shot. The story continues, and shall for LONGER THAN EVEN ETERNITY IS EMPOWERED TO THRIVE!!"
