grounderous' purging pad
Not that way! This is where I put random stuff that you might be interested in too.
Off the highway,
now I need to get where I want to be.

To be honest, today was a pretty bland day. It did start off pretty well; I managed to write a whole page based on what I thought was important to know during training. I also moved the computer arrangement I had at my desk, and I now have a much more convenient reminder for one of the more important but easily forgotten parts of my job.

I also went through all of the forms I hadn't prepared for processing yet and determined what needed to be done with each of them, making a note for acting on them tomorrow.

But despite all that I did, I don't feel like I did that much. I might be focusing too much on what I have to do besides the average stuff, or maybe what I did today isn't what I wanted to get done.

What I wanted to do was teach other people parts of my job so I wouldn't be as busy coding up and preparing documents for being processed. What I wanted to do was start working on a report I have to do. What I wanted to do was resolve some of the problems that have been weighing on my mind.

I'm just fooling myself when I say that. I canceled my cable today at lunch, which will help free up a little bit of money for me each month. And I did what I wanted to do at the time. All that I did today did need doing, and I went ahead and did them.

I suppose fixing the way you are doing things takes a different mindset than actually doing things. I'm happy with that.

I'll see how I am tomorrow, maybe I'll get a chance to see how well this change will work operationally. I can tell that I'm looking at things different now that I've read some of that book I have.

Actually, now I feel good about the day I've had today. I've put the ideas I've been having about organizational skills into practice, and it's changed my way of thinking and seeing things. The only thing I have to do now is keep it up, and once I've gotten the hang of a more organized way of thinking, I can relax a lot more.

Man, I never thought relaxation would come from just making a series of decisions each day! This book is awesome!

But only with time and perseverance will I become set in my ways. And all things have their time and place. My first challenge was to learn the basics, the second was to put it into practice. I don't know if I'm done with putting it into practice yet, but I've got to keep it going and see.

Second entry coming up once my mind gathers up all the scraps that weren't dealt with. smile
