grounderous' purging pad
Not that way! This is where I put random stuff that you might be interested in too.
Un-purging
I found out that there was little left in my head that could be "purged" this second time around, at least like the previous entries.

This is promising, it means that I'm recovering from what could be deemed a mental overload.

My mind was burdened with more information than it could deal with on its limited capabilities.

All minds are limited in some fashion. They are like muscles: only capable of holding what they are able to hold, no more. When the weight they are supporting is increased to beyond the limits, the knees start to buckle, the arms start to strain, the back starts to bend. But muscles have a tendency to send off pain signals to the brain, which tells our conscious mind that there is something wrong.

I'm not sure whether the brain can send off similar signals, but I've read a few times that the brain doesn't feel pain itself. You can, however, see other signs that a mind is starting to buckle under the pressure.

When a muscle is exerted to its breaking point, it starts doing just that: breaking. I'm assuming this, but I profess I have no medical knowledge worthy of making statements like these. But I believe that it would start breaking in small parts, until it would start breaking more noticeably. Even when the weight is removed, the muscle still requires more time to heal.

The same is with the brain. When the brain is subject to stress and is unable to cope with the vast amounts of information it is receiving, it starts to falter in the small areas of the mind that can break more easily. These are usually the parts that are not used as often.

When these small areas of the mind break, the other parts of the mind have to work harder to maintain the balance of the brain. This, coupled with the stress already there, forces the most favorable parts of the mind to become overworked and greatly increase their "processing power".

The same thing happens with an overworked heart (which as you should know is really a special muscle that regulates blood flow). When a heart is overworked, due to high blood pressure, narrowing arteries, or similar health problems, it increases in size because it is being used more than it used to be.

This is not a healthy thing to have happen, even if it happens in the mind.
An imbalance in the processing of the mind invites a certain instability to the whole construct. The metaphor of a glass sword applies here: while a glass sword may be very effective for its intended use, it is easily broken and must be well cared for.

Thankfully I have less to worry about now, but if I had stayed in the same situation for too long I may have had irreversible damage. If not irreversible, it would have taken a lot longer to cure this ailment and reverse its effects on my mental condition.

I'm glad I know where I'm at now, but I mustn't stop here. There are a lot more things that have to be done before my "scabs" heal over, but all I have to do is concentrate on what needs to be done now instead of what needs to be done in the future.

A simple plan. Who would ask for more?
