The creatures, demons, ghouls, monsters, ghosts, whatever the things are that's haunting Lieselotte - Link to profile

Marianne Bennet, Lieselotte’s decreased mother – Just like her daughters, Lady Marianne was a rather petite, blond filled with spunk. She married rather late, and it was a miracle, according to the doctors, that she was able to get pregnant as quickly as she did. Just like her daughter, Marianne was able to see the horrible creatures, and she actually (as much as she hated to admit it) favored Lieselotte because of this. But unlike Lieselotte, she was able to chase the creatures away, which made things turn for the worse when she had a unexpected, unfortunate and rather suspicious death on her daughters’ 7th birthday.

Hans Lehmann, Lieselotte’s father – Hans is a large man, almost identical to a gray bear in a suit and eyes of a proud lion. His beard is all over the place, making up for his early bald spot. He’s a rather silent man, and enjoys a good, intelligent conversation. Witty and gentle Anneliese charmed him out of his quiet nature, and he obviously preferred her above the more introverted Lieselotte, who was pretty much glued to her mother’s skirt. But that didn’t mean he didn’t love her; he’s been the one who admitted her into the asylum, hoping the new trend of ‘mind doctors’ and medicine would cure her. He’s also been pretty stubborn about Lieselotte’s marriage opportunities, refusing to even considering giving her away until she’s healthy again. This could however be a strategy to save his image. A crazy daughter doesn’t exactly give one’s family a good rumor, and honor is all that matters in his mind.

Anneliese Lehmann, identical twin sister – If it wasn’t for the length of the hair, Lieselotte’s thin body and paleness of the skin, it would be impossible to tell the two girls apart. Their personalities however are as night and day. Anneliese rarely worries about anything, and is the prime example of how a young, social woman of her age should be. A mild temper, graceful movements and never caught off guard. She was quickly married away and still a huge favorite among the bachelors and ladies alike. She’s not nearly as attached to Lieselotte as she is. Sisters, yes, and she does without a doubt love her, but she often feels that Lieselotte is clingy. Especially when Lieselotte insists on sharing a bed when she visits. She hardly points it out though, as she believes that her sister is mentally ill rather than haunted. Anneliese often treats Lieselotte as a toddler because of this, something that often frustrates them both. "I'm not invalid!" is what they usually argue about, Anneliese insisting to correct and help Lieselotte.

Edward Yorker, Anneliese’s husband – Edward, much like Hans, has a passion for medicine. And now that he’s a newly educated doctor and heir to a large sum of money, he’s not afraid to flaunt his position. For some reason or another, he has a strange dislike towards Lieselotte. It might be that she was his original fiancé and it was called off, or the way she clings to his wife like her life depends on it. Either way, he has quiet bitter feelings towards her and uses every excuse to talk badly of her. And Lieselotte’s visit to the asylum is one of his most favored subjects. Lieselotte on the other hand, couldn’t care less about Edward, which seems to be distressing him. He’s currently in the position, thanks to a few discussions here and there, where he was the power to send Lieselotte back to the asylum or not. This makes him a dangerous foe.

Old lady Kelly – A strange and ancient looking old woman who wanders around the local town. Where she lives, nobody knows, but she obviously knows a lot about the occult. She speaks in riddles and rhymes, driving her long nails into people unlucky enough to pass by to tell her fortunes and warnings. She normally brings good news and herbs with her, despite her wicked appearance. But when she sees the face of evil, she won’t stay silent. She’s been calling Marianne nothing but a witch while she was alive, and condemns Lieselotte as the soulless spawn of the Devil. “The demons you see are your own kin! Be gone, and mingle with the hellish ghouls somewhere else!” is what she usually hisses and calls after Lieselotte.

Ashes, the alley cat – Ashes is a black cat that roams behind the church and cemetery. No spots of white on him. Truly a witch’s companion. While other animals shun Lieselotte, he can’t help himself and follow her everywhere she goes around the town, though he stays outside if she goes inside. His most preferred spot is around her neck where he hands like a loose scarf and purrs loudly. This isn’t what makes him so fascinating and strange though. Ashes is the ultimate sign of bad luck. Anywhere he goes, there’s doomed to be an accident. He has oddly enough been nothing but a good omen for Lieselotte. No evil creature dares to come close when he hangs by. Then again; nobody does. And to add to it, Ashes is a intelligent fella. Suspiciously smart even…

Ella, Lieselotte’s caretaker – A tall raised slave woman from America, with a shaved head and pointy fingers. She was hired at the Manor the year Marianne died, and immediately took over the role as Liselotte’s mother and protector. Ella, unlike the rest of the staff at Temperance Manor, is convinced that Lieselotte is haunted, even if she’s not religious herself. She too has experienced, and more importantly seen some of the horror Lieselotte goes through every day. Ella is her normal ‘bed buddy’, though everyone sees it as a huge bother and she has strict orders from Herman not to have such close contact with his daughter. She doesn’t really mind the threats at all, as she cares more about the young girl’s safety more than anything else. It’s rather difficult to believe that Ella was a former slave. Her attitude is rather rough, closer to a man, and she lacks fear of authority. She’s even brave enough to get herself into fist fights with monsters. Is she needs to sacrifice and arm to get her way, she will do it.

Bio: Lieselotte was born into a wealthy family, together with her twin sister. Each of them seemed to be favored by the other parent because of their personalities, which made them even more different with the years. As Lieselotte grew up, she started to discover more and more demonic monsters living around her. They would all wary in shapes and sizes, but all seemed to have the same goal; torment and tease her in every way possible. Bloody hallways, moving objects, shaking beds and shattered mirrors wasn’t all that unusual. Lieselotte’s mother, Marianne, made it a little easier to deal with the evil by whisking them away with her hands, and it was thanks to her that Lieselotte was able to keep her sightings and experiences a secret as long as she did. On Lieselotte and Anneliese’s 7th birthday, Marianne passed away in an accident. It was on her mother’s funeral she realized the creatures weren’t just limiting themselves to the house, but that they followed her around. Lieselotte tried explaining what she saw to several adults, asking her help, but was ignored. Childish imagination, a fragment of a nightmare is what they all probably were. Lieselotte tried whisking the creatures, specifically the Grinning Man, away like her mother did before bed, but discovered much to her dismay that he wouldn’t disappear. In fact, he bit off her favorite toy’s head to demonstrate how easily he could kill her if she were to do it again. Lieselotte has since been finding comfort in her sister’s bed, as the creatures don’t seem to crawl into the bed when she has company. This didn’t mean they would let the rest of the room be though. As Lieselotte got older, the creatures became more and more daring, even going against some people visiting the Manor to give her a real scare. Around her 16th birthday, Lieselotte was admitted into a asylum by her father after a episode where she ran in her sleeping wear and hid herself inside the church. For almost three years Lieselotte went on some odd, untested medical cures and treatments, causing her to rapidly lose weight in the last year. The trip to the asylum only confirmed what she already knew; she wasn’t insane, the creatures were real. Though Lieselotte’s health was going downhill and she became as pale as a ghost, she was declared mentally stabile enough to return home on a trial. She has since then, together with her caretaker Ella, been silently struggling with the creatures to avoid ever having to return. This has been proved a lot more difficult than expected, with Edward seemingly keeping a firm grip around her freedom and the doings of the monsters getting worse and more aggressive.

Hair: Golden blond, waist length, naturally wavy, often unkept. She refuses to put it up, as mirrors break every time she sits in front of one.
Eyes: Pale, light blue.
Body: Anorexic thin, bones showing, sickly pale, flat chested. Most of her fat hangs in her cheeks, giving her a childish appearance.
Clothing: Almost anything she’s given. She refuses to wear a corset and high heels, in case she’s forced to run. She prefers soft pale colors such as purple and blues.
Notable features: Constantly has a bruised ribcage and legs, seemingly hairless except on her head, three small moles on her neck. Small space between her front teeth. Almost a painted looking face, being dark around the eyes and very pink lips.
Health: Due to some treatments, Lieselotte has rapidly lost weight, leaving her looking anorexic. Even after she stopped taking the medication and came home, she's had a problem getting the weight back no matter how much she eats. Her anxiety issue (which is a product of being tormented and scared by the creatures) is causing her to be constantly stressed and unable to relax, which has also lead to insomnia. Allergic to pollen.

Personality and general about: While Lieselotte was a child, she had little worries. She preferred to hang around mom, where it was safe, and did as best to copy her. By default she’s a bit jumpy, and easily startled by sounds and sudden movements. She’s constantly expecting an attack, always keeping her senses on the very edge. To avoid potential harm, she developed habits to protect herself as well as others. Despite spending her days in fear and frustration, Lieselotte never takes it out on others and keeps it all bottled up. She hates being described as a burden, and therefore does her best to deal with her problems on her own. The fact that nobody seems to be able to help her might have something to do with it as well. Despite trying to do things on her own, Lieselotte depends a lot on others for protection. She can’t live without being attached to someone, and when things get bad, anyone will do. She completely loses all her problem solving skills once she’s caught off guard or starts to feel helpless. And getting out of the dark hole she digs herself is easier said than done. If it wasn’t for the creatures bothering her, Lieselotte would probably still have a quiet nature, but probably be a lot more social and actually talk to people without being spoken to first. Lieselotte is, as one can imagine, very emotional. Oddly enough Lieselotte has managed to hold on to her sense of humor, though it has gotten rather morbid and dark with the years.
Habits: Biting her nails, walking around restlessly in a circle when stressed, burst into tears when she doesn’t know what to do, stop and stare intensely when she hears a strange sound, mumbling her plans out loud and debate with herself when she believes no one can hear her, looking under tables every time she enters a new room (doesn’t matter if she has returned to the room several times before on the same day or hour), cling to the person closest to her when frightened or uncomfortable (really doesn’t matter if she knows them or not, man or woman), covering all mirrors she comes across, walking into puddles rather than avoiding them (can stand in them for several minutes until someone pulls her away), sharing a bed at night (though men are obviously out of the question) and chewing on her hair when bored.
Likes: Drinking tea, eating sweets and reading about great explorations.
Adores: Getting real attention (not out of pity or politeness), walking outside in the rain, swimming, and playing and cuddling with Ashes.
Dislikes: Being forced to wear formal clothes, going shopping with her sister, being locked up and being forcibly introduced to people.
Hates: Being forced to take medication, being talked like she’s a toddler or not able to understand normal speech/conversations, strangers acting too friendly with her, animals, people calling her mother crazy and flowers.
Fears: Being left alone, that she really is crazy and that the monsters will kill her or somebody else some day, and the creatures of course.
Talents: Great problem solver, surprisingly good dancer and run fast in high heels.
