Name: Betty Lou Candletop.
Nickname/s: Kitty (because she's always covered in cats and her choked high pitches noises sounds like kitten complaints, often used by outsiders and strangers), Betsy (used by Bob only), Beatrice (used by Chastel and some other witch hunters, Betty Lou doesn't respond to it).
Age: Uncertain. 14-15 at most.
DoB: October 19th.
Race: Witch.
Race information: Witches are the female version of a wizard; a person who has magical abilities. You can't forcibly become a witch; you're born as one and it's completely random. When a witch and a wizard produce a child, they have no guarantee that their offspring will have magical powers, but it does heighten the chances. What they're able to do varies greatly. Elemental witches may only perform spells that relate to their element, practical witches can only perform magic on objects, white witches can only perform healing, black witches curses, psychics see the future and so on. What is common for all though, is that they can all make magical potions and get the same result depending on the quality of the ingredients. 'Are witches and wizards good or bad?' is a very hot debated topic. Some places they're hunted down, while in others they're a necessary part of the village. They have the tendency to become scrap-goats though if something goes bad.
Rank: Practical.
Abilities: Flying using a broom, move using mirrors as transport, make inanimate objects come to life (like a flying table, self-playing piano) and enchant objects to perform a new purpose (like giving a pair of shoes the ability to walk on water, make a candle that never burns out, a poisonous cup no matter what you drink out of it).
Ethnicity: European.
Birthplace: London.
Current home: Ragville, in the High Tower to the north, top floor.
Current home information: Ragville is a small abandoned village with the exception of Betty Lou, Auntie Pepper, Bob and the never ending supply of cats. The village is mainly parted into four locations; Ragville in the south, Ravenwood forest in the west, the Cemetery in the east and the High Tower in the North. Betty Lou and Auntie Pepper are the ones running Ragville, doing things like running the shop only when people visit or walk though, clean the houses if they're looking for something and lazily patch up anything that needs fixing just when it's about to crack down. Bob watches over Ravenwood and Cemetery. The High Tower used to be a mill, but is now the home of all the residents. Around the High Tower is a pumpkin field, together with large overgrown thorn bushes. The pumpkins are rarely eaten and more often smell and rot, but Auntie Pepper refuses to remove them as they remind of the fact that her dead terrier, Boston, liked the color orange. Ragville seems to be constantly trapped in the autumn season, as never spring or winter seems to make any changes.
Place in time: Unknown. between 1600 and late 1800s.
Family members/pets/friends/foes:
Auntie Pepper Candletop - It's uncertain if this woman really is Betty Lou's aunt or not. A very talkative redhead who can't stop chewing on the keys and monkey skulls that hang around her neck. She often wears two different shoes, a man's and a woman's, claiming it makes her driver skills better. Auntie Pepper also loves to wear large earrings. The bigger the better. If she's struggling to keep her head up, they're the right size. She's a psychic witch, being able to read minds, see the past and predict the future. Auntie Pepper runs a small business called "Needle" (a pun on the word need, which isn't all that funny), where she offers a bunch of different services ranging from potions, fortune telling, magical objects and protection. Betty Lou acts as her assistant. She refuses to respond to anything but Auntie Pepper, and get's offended if called Miss Pepper, Madame Pepper, Lady Pepper or Miss Witch.
Bob - Bob is an old, fat man with thin fingers who has lived together with Auntie Pepper for as long as he can remember... which isn't all that much. He's often found with a slightly too tall and small hat on his head, sitting on a chair in front of Ravenwood forest. His task is to make sure nobody comes out of there, but he doesn't care if somebody walks inn. They're not his problem. The only times he moves from his regular spot, is when dinner's ready. Heck, he even sleeps there. His best friend is his seemingly dying parrot, Polly, who snaps and bites at everything that moves, including Bob.
Missy - Missy is one of Betty Lou's favorite cats. She's fat, she's fluffy, missing an ear and eye, and got a flat face. She never purrs, except when people fail or do something stupid.
Jackie - Betty Lou's only friend outside of her family. He's a scarecrow she brought life to. He's very insightful, considering he has a head made of turnip. He's got a very mellow temper and a great gentleman. He enjoys reciting poetry and discuss the great mysteries of the universe. Jackie is the only one tackling Betty Lou's problem of selective mutism. While Auntie Pepper means that she'll talk when she's ready, Jackie says she needs help getting over her fears. Betty Lou usually tries to avoid this subject, but knows Jackie only means well. He can be found impressionating what he was originally, a scarecrow, just outside of the Cemetery. He's more then willing to talk to people if you offer him a cup of warm water and lemon.
Chastel Figurine - A witch hunter hellbent on shutting down Auntie Pepper's business and take Betty Lou away from her. Seeing as Betty Lou is still a child, she can be 'fixed' and live a normal life if his kind could take care of her. He has several times tried to lure Betty Lou out of the city and into Ravenwood forest, saying he's familiar with her family. Betty Lou ignores him completely.
Bio: Betty Lou was born in London, and later sent to Ragville to live with Auntie Pepper. Who Betty Lou's parents are is a mystery to her, but she couldn't care less about it. At an early age, it was apparent the girly had talent for magic and a few years later by the Yaga Council's primary test for youngsters, she was declared a practical witch. She's been learning potion making and flying skills since then. She's the future heiress to the "Needle" service.
Hair: Black, wild curls, uneven fringes that cover her eyes. Reaches to her anklets. Unkept and sometimes twigs get stuck in it.
Eyes: Dark brown.
Body: Childish, late bloomer. Exceptionally pale. Full of moles all over her body. Dimples.
Clothing: Long, sleeveless dresses. Often beautified rags full of patches and ribbons in dark blues, bright yellows, greens and purples. High gloves, and spiral shaped tips on her shoes. Large witch hat with button ornaments. All clothing are heavily rag doll inspired. No rings, but often bracelets.
Notable features: Upturned nose, large front teeth, unnaturally long hair and wears a pair of white rimmed round glasses.
Health: Except for her bad eyesight, there's nothing wrong with her physically. She's never sick. She suffers from selective mutism though. She's perfectly capable of talking to Auntie Pepper, Bob, Jackie and the cats, but any and all strangers she lacks the ability to talk to and make eye contact. If she does attempt to talk to a stranger, it's usually a customer that's arrived while Auntie Pepper is away. It will result in a choked, high pitched sound, followed by a long awkward silence. She'll repeat the process once to three times, before she gives up and puts up a 'Busy, please wait' sign.
Personality and general about: Betty Lou is rather shy and sensitive. She's not very easily frightened oddly enough, unless she's around strangers. She's not a very hard worker either, and like most teens she prefers to laze about and do her own thing. She absolutely hates being nagged at, and sometimes it can seem like she has selective hearing as well. While Betty Lou might seem very aloof with her head in the clouds, her brain is highly active and she makes details of things people don't normally think about. Betty Lou is very intelligent, but doesn't like to flaunt it. She's almost embarrassed by it, as a woman shouldn't be smarter then a man during her period of time. She does have the habit of forgetting the simplest things though. She'll probably not remember what she had for breakfast yesterday, or that she's eaten at all. Around people she's comfortable with, she talks freely and sometimes like a huge waterfall. Getting into her comfort zone is easier said then done. Betty Lou doesn't like strangers. She's highly unsure of them, even if they're harmless children or babies. So far Jackie is the only one who has gotten into her comfort zone outside of Auntie Pepper, Bob and the cats, but he was created by Betty Lou so she would be less lonely. The best way to get her confident enough to walk next to you at least, is by bringing an animal. Fuzzy creatures make her relax as they symbolize something familiar for her. Getting her to talk to you? Well, good luck; it's mission impossible.
Likes: Making potions together with Auntie Pepper, reading and having Jackie throw dead pumpkins at Chastel.
Adores: Talking to Jackie, cuddling with fuzzy things, fur, sleeping in, not having to do work and fly on her broom.
Dislikes: Jackie complaining that Betty Lou should get some new friends, smell of rotten pumpkin, having to fix the town and dealing with lots and lots of coins.
Hates: Having to move around the outskirts Ravenwood forest, people who try to forcibly make her talk when she's obviously not able to, the fact that she's forbidden by Auntie Pepper to ride a horse, having to conceal her powers and rainy days.
Fears: Strangers, witch hunters, any social interactions or uncomfortable situations.
Talents: Very musical.
Facinated by: Frogs and snakes.
