The Journal of a Miss Chase
Genevieve
"I don't belong here." The word was like a comforting phrase to be murmured beneath her breath as she watched the neanderthals she called her classmates sway to the music against one another, smoking a joint in one hand and chugging down some creative mixture of booze and soda in the other. Genevieve was not one to be criticizing though. She had actually come to the party to be just like every single person she was turning her nose up at. The only difference was that she had changed her mind once the noisome smell of weed and vomit hit her nostrils when she had stepped through the door. It was evident that everyone else had chosen to ignore these signals for a bad party and embraced them. Or, at least, drowned it out beneath the very symptoms.

At the moment she was perched on the arm of a black leather couch accompanied by a goth girl smoking a fat cigarette, most likely rolled by herself, and a couple that occupied half the couch as they were half on top of each other, their legs sliding on the wooden floor in attempts to catch some gripping. Their mix of passionate teenage love and hormones did nothing to help make Genevieve feel a little less lonely and standing up in frustration she swiped a shot off of the nearest table and downed it in one gulp. The bitter taste made her face pucker up and setting the glass down she was doubly irritated by the fact that she could not simply let herself go and enjoy a damn glass of...whatever that was. She made her way to the kitchen where there were less people, the snacks and alcohol being served in the dining room, and she placed her hands on the counter in front of the sink, staring angrily out into the backyard. Her thoughts drifted to the very reason that she had come to the party that night. Her now ex-boyfriend. Genevieve had caught him only hours prior with his mouth mashed against some girl from school who she had only ever seen passed out beneath the bleachers during lunch period the few times she had gone out. While it was most likely that he had cheated on her spur of the moment, she could not help but point the finger at her personality. While she was fun-loving, funny, and overall a kind person she had never let herself go before like her classmates could. Their bodies were immune to consequences and their minds a blank slate for remorse. What Genevieve would not give to be one of them.

The backyard was well-manicured. Flowered bushes lining the fence made of freshly stained wood, a concrete birdbath with detailed carving surrounding the base and on the rim, and a few lawn chairs sprawled out. Genevieve could already imagine the host laying out on one of those to get his tan. The man was notoriously tan even during the dead of winter and already spring she could not imagine that he was neglecting his skin tone. Just beyond all of the signs of habitation though was a dense forest. It stuck out plainly with it's unkempt branches and gnarled roots looking like the Loch Ness monster from her angle as they rose and dipped back into the earth. The branches swayed to their own rhythm as a gentle breeze rolled by and the sight of the naturalness of the scene calmed her somewhat. Without her own knowledge, her feet carried her to the back door and as the first breath of crisp, cool air reached her face she finally came to her senses. Genevieve wanted to be there. Just for a moment or two. Perhaps get her head on straight or make up her mind and find someone at the party she could make out with for a while. It would certainly get her ex-boyfriend's blood boiling. He had always been so possessive of her.

Genevieve's feet padded lightly on the ground, with the dirt being moist and all from the nightly shower of rain, and reaching the edge of the woods she placed a hand on the trunk of the tree. She liked to imagine that it's serenity was being absorbed into her own flesh and closing her eyes she let her mind actually believe that it was. Another breeze whipped her hair around her face and Genevieve felt her clothes flap against her body. At least out here a tree would not care if her ridiculously short black dress exposed more of her skin than was safe when the wind caught it. She had spent most of her time during the party trying to pull it down to an acceptable length, despite it's original purpose. Finally, she opened her eyes and pulled her arm away. She may as well go home. Genevieve did not belong here. Just as she was about to turn away though a shadow rushed by thirty yards away. It could have passed for a branch shifting overhead beneath the weight of a squirrel or a bird but deep down she knew it could not be. Her mind told her to make a run back towards the house. This was the moment in the horror movies where the girl was slaughtered because of her own curiosity and the audience shook their head in unison, telling themselves that they would never be that person. Perhaps it was the severe lack of adventure in her night though that brought Genevieve to go against her better judgment. Clutching her hands into tight, white-knuckled fists at her sides she slowly began to creep back into the forest, each step defined and slow.

"H-Hello?" Her voice sounded foreign to her ears. It was small and uncertain and feeling a flush of color rise on her cheeks at the sound Genevieve pressed on, clearing her throat first. "Um...is there anyone out here?" She had wandered in about thirty feet and the light from the house was still clearly visible between the trees. Genevieve began to wring her hands out in front of her waist and biting her lower lip she peered around anxiously. It did not appear as if anyone was present. This revelation was much to her own relief and smiling nervously to herself she folded her arms to protect her body from the chill and turned her back to the forest, quickly trying to make her way back to the party.

((PM me to continue! You do not have to write this much, I got a little carried away. I have other RPCs and I am open to any ideas you have. There are also other starters that can be seen in My Posts or you can show me yours. Please be as creative as possible because this starter will not be returning to the party unless it is to blow everyone up. And someone told me recently that it is hard to respond to...really? You can be ANYTHING, a cyborg from the future, a wizard, a prince looking for a bride at a high school party, ANYTHING so long as it is interesting.))
